  1. New 5.4" Sight Tracker. Going off to hard chrome this week. I will give it a spotlight post with a full breakdown when hard chrome is completed! Basic Info: 5.4" Infinity Hybrid Barrel, 5" STI Slide, Phoenix Trinity 17-4 stainless frame. Builder: Jimmy Vidanes (1911 Speed Shop, Riverside, California).
  2. I prefer the new style. It takes up less room on the belt. But even then, the new ghost belt attachment is still bulky as hell also. You better use velcro on the back. If you run a lot of them, you will have an entire portion of belt that doesn't get velcro'd to the inner belt. They release smooth as hell, but man, that attachment friggin' blows. I went back to my DAA Racer pouches. I wish I could combine the belt attachment of the DAA Racer to the pouch of the Ghost 360! The belt attachment is narrow and allows tons of velcro to still be useful. Now I am at a dilemma with my racer pouches. I hate how they rattle when no mag is inserted. I hate the work around of shaving the thick spacer for the Glock mag. It still never feels just right. I am looking into the Safariland pouches now. I am fed up with pouches. Can't you tell?
  3. Yea, this gets into one person's firm grip being tougher than the next person's death grip. All the more reason to exercise and develop grip strength so that the threshold is increased.
  4. Pat, I feel the same away about weak hand shooting. Sunday night I had an awesome training session. We ended the session with some weak hand shooting on HARD targets (totally illegal no shoots, minimal A zone, etc). I find that even with strong and weak hand shooting, gripping the gun hard as hell just makes my accuracy go through the roof. This is especially true when you do not have the strength of that second hand to keep your firing hand in check and steady. Lots of people preach just "relaxing the grip" when shooting weak and strong hand. Nu uh, I don't buy it. Bad trigger technique under the pressure of a timer or anything else REALLY shows its ugly head when you don't have that support hand keeping it steady, so might as well grip that gun as solidly as you can, regardless.
  5. yep, it's almost like cheating. You see the sight image and the target both at the same time. You don't have to lose either one. When I got my shooting glasses, I take a business card to the optometrist and hold it at arms length to represent the gun's sight distance. The right eye gets corrected to there. The left eye (for target) gets corrected to infinity like normal distance glasses are. So, stare into the distance and the left eye sees target distance and the right eye is focused at front sight distance. Do you think this would be an option if someone is left eye dominant but still aligns the gun to the their right eye? I don't like turning my head either way and I am able to keep a consistent index. Would I then have my right eye still the one focused at arm's length, even though I am naturally left eye dominant?
  6. Yo, call and ask about the "USPSA kit." It's a sort of Ghost Stinger like attachment that allows the Kydex to be much more adjustable.
  7. Understood. Been reading a lot of your post on keeping the 40's running. Thanks for the info! Tons of reloads with the Glock has taught me to aim for the rear. I guess my OCD just makes me worry about those rare instances where your brain may fart. That is all. As with many things, I am worrying about trivial issues that I know I shouldn't sweat.
  8. That's understood, man! LOL I am already going with the techwell. I mean, might as well run zero mag well since my hands are too small for it to benefit my grip anyway, right? LOL. As I keep saying, I understand I should not be using anything as a sole crutch. It would just be "what if insurance," but it's not that serious. I have already decided on the Techwell anyway. Can a man talk out loud and voice his concerns, even those that are trivial? I have had clean driving record for years, but I ain't gonna cancel my insurance tomorrow. It's not big concern. I was just curious. Thanks, trp. The pics helped a lot. Definitely going with the Techwell/Tripp combo, (and practice).
  9. Yes, that is understood, and is also common sense, but things do happen in the heat of the stage, sir. I am not looking at a way out of practicing. It would just be insurance. C'mon now. I am sure I am gonna give the System/XT combo a try anyway. I like what I am seeing in terms of how much pad is still exposed! Another plus is not having to buy separate pads. I think I have my choice made.
  10. I played with one (Dawson no gap) over the weekend and I liked how if you snagged the front, the mag still went in since it did not get caught up on the frame. Admittedly I have never tried the XT techwell, just the TGO with the entire front cut out. My only gripe with the Dawson set up is that only the heel area of the basepad is exposed a decent portion. I like how the Techwell has a good sized portion of the entire base bottom exposed. So it hasn't been an issue? I have a TRP here with a factory mag well (basically nothing). In comparison to the Ice No Gap I tried this weekend, I am not sure about people saying magwells don't really help on a single stack. It was super easy to load. I know that is not what you are saying.
  11. Yes, I have searched the SS picture thread. I am wondering if anyone out there can provide a picture of a Tripp system/corey magazine inserted into a Techwell XT magwell? Most pics people take do not include the magazine being inserted. I am trying to see how much of the base pad is exposed as compared to a Dawson/Dawson arrangement. Thanks!
  12. Crucified?? On these forums?? Not a good idea to lube since it only attracts more gunky crap. Besides, the plate under the bar is teflon coated. It's meant to be run dry, and it should run dry as long as everything is correctly adjusted and nothing is fouled up. Its not hard to wipe any excess stuff off once in a while. I've heard that time and time again. Like I said, I always heard it, and followed it, messed with the rod, made sure the primer assembly screws weren't too tight, checked all Brian's tips. etc. Been there, done that. Would work for a few hundred perfectly, then need adjustment again. Perhaps it needed a few new parts since the machine is old, but hey, a couple quick shots of wd40 fixed all my woes, regardless of what is recommended.
  13. I will probably be crucified for saying this. Everyone says to keep it dry, but to be honest, ever since I started spraying the bar with WD-40, I haven't had one issue again. Just be careful where you spray it (only on the bar and friction prone areas). I never have any issues with contamination, etc. We wet lube and grease everything else that has metal to metal contact, so.... I never have to bend the rod or any of that stuff anymore. Nor do I have to leave the bolts loose as hell.
  14. This. STANDARD LEE! I can't remember the last time I case gauged or had a jan due to bad piece of brass. (knock on wood..LOL)
  15. Alright, alright. That's it. I'm gonna grab a SP-01 for sure asap. I can't handle it anymore. The 2011's and my G34's will have to get over it.
  16. Search gear and accessories. You will find opinions on all of them.
  17. The fiber should only draw attention to the sight. Use the top of the post for alignment, not the dot. I am a long time hater of fiber optic, but I finally put the time into long practice wit the fiber and it doesn't distract me from proper sight alignment anymore.
  18. I just received a 5.4" barrel from Brandon at Infinity. Not listed on the site, but cost the same as their 6" offerings.
