  1. I run Tripp System mags with the hybrid follower (10 round 10mm tubes cut down to fit the box, shaved pads, hold 9) and use them with a Dawson Ice No Gap. I trimmed down the front of the base pad until they fit. There is still some of the pad that prevents over insertion. I personally like this set up more than the regular cobra mags with Dawson Pads. I feel like more of the pad is exposed even towards the front of the mag. I am not sure if you would experience the same since the 9mm mags are shorter than the system mags from the get go.
  2. I contacted both emails on the wsssc match page and never got a response. I really wanted to shoot this match.
  3. In my experience, the FCD is a waste of time if you already have a Lee die (standard or U) doing the job first. If it is getting to the crimp station while still not being in spec, that to me says there is an issue at station 1. When I got my standard Lee die, the FCD went bye bye.
  4. I think the Undersized dies from Lee/EGW are over kill. I think the standard Lee sizer is perfect. I use and swear by them in 9 and 40. Factory glock barrels, KKM glock barrels, STI barrels, SVI barrels, whatever. My ammo runs.
  5. I think he meant the Rangemaster frame, from STI, not Racemaster. The base of this gun:
  6. Those are not Perman grips. I made the grip panels myself, shaped from 1/4 inch basswood with a handplane, then wrapped in skateboard tape. $5 in materials and a little patience and I love the result. The shape is very similar to my limited guns, and it is very light. And yes, the square trigger guard is a huge improvement, in my opinion. Damn. Fooled me with the with the grip tape wraps around in the front!
  7. You're doing it right! I love these Perman 19-20 grips. I posted mine above. But you have that square trigger guard. I want a square guard really bad. My support hand is begging for it!
  8. My new Trojan. Tri topped, chromed, with DSPerman 19-20 grips. Now I need mags!
  9. Hell no. My 550 sits lonely and depressed. Matter of fact, I now recommend a 1050 as FIRST PRESS to my friends who have common sense and a basic understanding of mechanics. I added the Mr. Bulletfeeder over the holidays. What have I been doing with my life???????????
  10. Ok, two years later, I gotta update my opinion. I used the DAA for quite a bit, but ran into issues with it snagging at the wrong time. I tried all sorts of positions. Maybe it was just mine? I took the time to position it in a way that was most ergonomically efficient for myself. I ended up trying a Safariland 014. I LOOOOOVE this thing. It never snags no matter what. And it feels extremely solid with the muzzle end cup device. Keep the 014 in your list of possible choices. I still love my DAA pouches, but my nod goes to the 014 holster.

    Mag pouches

Be careful with mounting the Racers at 90*. The don't have the same attachment for 90* that they do for bullets forward. The belt attachment has a cog like attach point. The mag pouch has a cog like attach point on the side for bullets pointing forward method. The pouch is very secure with the cogs lining up. When you switch to 90*, the mag pouch is a smooth flat surface. You can still mount it, but there is no matching cog like surface so they have the tendency to rotate. I wanted to mount mine 90*, but because of this, I had to go back to bullets forward. I'm looking to move over to the Ghost 360's because I've been told they are very solid and mount 90* with no issues. This isn't true. That cog you're talking about pops out so you can place it on the rear of the pouch.

  13. broken slide stop

  15. Thanks a lot, sir. I am gonna order a tube to have my smith modify my frame. I've been wanting to try some SV tubes for quite some time now.
  16. The interference is on the sides of the mag area, correct? The issue is not front to back?
  17. So which mag catch are you using successfully when said frame opening is done?
  18. I was aware about the frame mods, but does there still need to be any modification done to the mag catch hole on the tube if we have already addressed the frame? Will the STI catch work?
  19. I want to shoot this match, but nobody will respond to PM, or both of the emails listed... I just wanna know if there are slots still available.... I have emailed singlestack40@gmail.com, and WSSSC1@gmail.com No response. Anyone got another reliable way to contact them?
  20. FYI, my 5" bull and 5.4" sight tracker with 5" slide weigh exactly the same. The balance is a little different, but total weight is the same.
  21. This depends on how light the slide is on the normal bull barreled gun. I have a conventional 5" Bull Barrel with a chopped slide, and I also have a 5.4" Sight Tracker that utilizes a 5" slide as shown here, built using an SV Infinity barrel: The 5.4 gun does cycle just a bit faster than my 5" bull barrel gun with the slide cuts. The sight tracker slide is super light for obvious reasons (big gaping hole cut out of it) but I can go between them with ease. It isn't drastic. Both of them are much different than a full profiled slide though. Some folks make a big deal out of dust cover length, but I am personally not affected by it that much. My 5" bull gun has a butler cut. The gun pictured above is a little bit further than a short dust cover.
  22. If you have to race to C class, you are simply not practicing at all. Sounds harsh, but it is totally true. I never understood the "shoot for a C mentality." You should be shooting for the top, and if you so happen to fall at a, b, c, or whatever, then so be it. But aiming for the C? I dunno about all that. If you aim towards better long term goals, you will meet all of those other lower levels along the way. Ben's newest book has a great reality check section for shooters with the "settle for X" mindset.
  23. Depends on your own experience with BMW. I don't think they are all that. LOL
