  1. Wsf, makes major pretty easily with room to spare,
  2. Waiting on the slide if their thumb was riding it back into battery, maybe...
  3. The triggers usually need work. If you buy the hp edge from brazos he sets them close to 3 lbs and cleans up the slop. I have shot 1911's with and without trigger jobs and would go with one that has had the work done already. 40 is more popular because you give up mag capacity with the .45
  4. Pull a bullet and you should barely see a line on the pulled bullet. If you see a deep ring, you have to much crimp
  5. I am currently loading 200gr bayous over 4.5 grains of wsf and it is soft. I don't think it feels sluggish but perceived recoil is different from person to person. I have used solo 1000 with 180GR bayou bullets and that is also very soft. If I had more solo I would work up a load with the 200gr bullet. Buy a couple sample packs of each and see what you like best then make your choice and crank that handle.
  6. I just started loading wsf under 200gr bayous making major. Very soft shooting. And makes major easily
  7. It's not that you don't want the slide to lock back on an empty mag, if you are shooting USPSA, you don't want to go empty so you plan to reload before slide lock. The other reason people modify the slide stop is if they are running tuned mags with grams guts you run the risk of the slide locking back with a round left in the magazine
  8. Disable the slide stop or trim the followers
  9. It should be close to drop in, you may have to take a little material off to make sure it moves freely, but it really is simple if need be. And I am by no means a qualified gunsmith.
  10. I had brand new mags that were out of spec and choked my gun up pretty good. Had them tuned, the guy that tuned them said they were not even close to being in spec. I was a bit disappointed that factory new mags wouldn't work in the gun.
  11. I'd just buy the tuned mags from brazos if I were to do it again. Tuned mags fixed the feeding issues that I was having.
  12. The hodgon website only has data for jacketed Hornady xtp rounds. Doesn't it require less powder considering it's coated lead?
  13. Good luck on powder. That is the toughest to come by at the moment. You should be able to find all the rest. Check out the BEnos store, he offers a 550 package that will get you everything you need to get going. If you don't want to get the scale and such you can check places like Amazon. I got my tumbler and media etc. From there for a reasonable price.
  14. I have some 231 on the way and I was looking for load data on where to start I looked for data in the Lyman manual but it didn't have anything for 200gr Bullets. I want to work my way up to major with this combination. I'm not against loading long since I will be loading for a double stack. Any info would be appreciated.
  15. 200 gr would give less recoil and requires less powder to make major than the 180's
  16. Thanks, please send me the info. I appreciate it. I have heard of ramshot and it's on the top of my list. Unfortunately all powders that I need seem to be unobtainium. I should have found powder before I bought the 650 it's getting hungry. To gunbot.net I go... lol
  17. Do you know how the recoil feels in comparison with titegroup or solo 1000?
  18. That first pic looks strange. Mine don't look like that at all. When I get home I will see if I can take a few pics of it. I think their mold was off or the bags were mislabeled...
  19. I just got the 650. I am brand new to reloading. It really wasn't too difficult to setup after reading the step by step directions and watching the dillon dvd. The main reason that I wanted it was for the auto indexing which I believe would reduce the likelihood of squibs and doubles.
  20. Assuming you were talking about the competition mag holders
  21. I have them and haven't had an issue at all. They fit snug enough to hang onto them but release quick enough for fast reloads.
  22. Anyone using either of these powders to make major with coated lead (loaded long).
  23. New era hats are nice. Never mind they don't have plain hats (thought they did)
