I am laid up due to back surgery i had a few weeks ago. So to help pass the time I decided to build a CCO model 1911. I have no intention of competeing with the gun, it is going to be a nice winter carry gun. I used a remsport frame and slide. These are the guys that many custom shops have manufacture the house brand parts. I recieved my frame one week ago today. When i got it, the slide to frame fit was excellent. I had requested they leave it needing some fitting, but all it needed was polishing on the frame rails. I also had to remove some burrs that were left from the machinig processes, but it was nothing major. I also had to debur and chamfer the disconnector hole, but again that was a 30 second job. I am very happy with the product. Now i will say that they arn't the easiest people to get a hold of right now due to contracts and some personal problems. I will guarantee their products are the smae quality and siginificantly cheaper than buying something from brownells. If you are interested in getting something from them, message me and I will give you the contact info for the sales guy i dealt with. Now for the obligatory picture:
And yes, i did make my own slide lapping tool. Even with buying a 3' length of the closest drill rod, it was less than half the cost of a marvel unit. I will hook you up with a short length to make your own if you want. Just message me. For the bushing, i used a sarco bushing as i had a inkling they would be extremely loose on the tolerances and fit most slides with minimal filing. I was right on that one.
