  8. Except it answers a question that wasn't asked. The question I believe is why are there two percentages shown and which one indicates my actual classification. Actual classification would be "C" Current Percentage is 47.52% and the highest Classification percentage obtained is 55.79% In USPSA per the classification policies a member can not move down in classifications (eg: Drop to D Class from C Class). The exception there is a process where an MD can submit a letter to USPSA requesting a member be moved down in class due to extenuating circumstances, i.e an injury that has severe impact on their ability to perform at the classification level they had achieved. (going from memory on this one at this time). In short the USPSA Classification system is a system that promotes based on performance but does not demote to a lower class.

  13. The TSA approved lock is for normal checked baggage. Firearms, specifically handguns are a special handling.
  14. Traveling with firearms is generally not an issue. NYC excluded. For handguns, have them in a locked hard case and declare them at the counter. I have had the counter agent walk me to the TSA xray and wait while they get screened, I have alos had them point me to the TSA xray and I waited while they were screened. I have a gear bag that my range bag will fit in and regardless if I am flying or driving to a major match the range bag is in the gear bag, out of sight out of mind, not conspicuous.
  15. TSA locks are combination locks. With a master key that only TSA has. From the TSA website: # The container must be locked. A locked container is defined as one that completely secures the firearm from access by anyone other than you. Cases that can be pulled open with little effort do not meet this criterion. The pictures provided here illustrate the difference between a properly packaged and an improperly packaged firearm. # We recommend that you provide the key or combination to the security officer if he or she needs to open the container. You should remain present during screening to take the key back after the container is cleared. If you are not present and the security officer must open the container, we or the airline will make a reasonable attempt to contact you. If we can't contact you, the container will not be placed on the plane. Federal regulations prohibit unlocked gun cases (or cases with broken locks) on aircraft.
  16. As far as using TSA locks on a hardside case, check the Airline Reg. The last couple of times I checked it stated that the handguns had to be locked in a case that only the owner had the keys or combo to. Alan
  17. your leaf spring might not be installed correctly, where it engages the sear and disconnector

  20. When did you start shooting open? I started in 1988 when there was only one division Was 40 your first caliber in open? Started with a 9mm, then a 45 to a 38 Super and the 40 S&W right about the time the cartridge was announce. Had a little inside info. Why did you choose 40? Initially cause I could not get my gun to run in 10mm reliably and I had know about the Centimeter, but the commercial 40 s&w made so much more sense What make is your gun? I initially started with a Colt Delta Elite and then upgraded the frame to a Caspian Hi-Cap Who built it? With the exception of the barrel installation which, was done by Bar-Sto everything else was pretty much installed by myself. What barrel length, comp and optic are you using? It was 5", started with a Two Port Plaxco comp then had a 3 port wide front side baffles installed by a Gunsmith friend T Face in CA when I was living there. Started with a Tasco, then a Holosight and then a C-More Do you run a big stick, and what capacity are you getting? Big stick gets 25 rds What have you settled on for a load? Used HS-6/WW540 pushing a Nosler 135gr JHP Last match shot had a PF of 186 and won my class What's your open classification? B Where do you live? VA I retired this open gun back in 2004 after shooting her for 12 years on the hi-cap frame, still the best open gun I ever had. Going to 9Major in 2004 has done nothing to improve my performance. I am and have been contemplating building another .40 Open. Alan
  21. One point of order for everybody. The Agenda item for the discussion of the WS Teams was not added as an addendum to the last agenda. Therefore it was posted on the USPSA Members area prior to the Nov Board meeting. I did not receive any input from any members on that item. Frankly the more I read this thread, and the accusations of good ole boy, and back room deals and other insinuations becomes disheartening. This was posted on the agenda, it was discussed at length during the Board meeting and a decision was made. Are some members unhappy with the decision, absolutely, as evidenced by this thread. For clarification, I am not blaming the economy for my decision but is was one of the points that I considered. That was based on discussions that I have had in my own Area with concerns of MDs of dropping participation levels. Currently there are in the handgun arena, 2 Nationals, 8 Area matches and a host of other Major Matches that have great match reputations. So how do we fit into that schedule a series of qualifier matches into an already fairly active season of major matches, and not conflict or pull participation from the other established matches, especially when no clubs/individuals have shown an interest to host these qualifier matches. I am confident that the Team Manager will make the decision based on members participation in Major Matches, Area Championships and the Nationals. So how is that not basing a decision on match performance?
  22. damned good water landing by the pilot!!
