  1. Hello Mike,

My name is Jim Wheeler.  I was talking to Bob Purdue and he mentioned you used to do trigger jobs?  If you are, I bought a JM 625 2 years ago and was wondering if it made sense to do a trigger job on it ?  If you are doing them still, would you consider doing one on my gun?

Hi Jim.  Bob Perdue is actually on a fishing trip with me at my lake place here in Iowa right now--coincidence you would mention him!  But no, I haven't done any gun work since 2011.  You might check with Tom at TK Custom in IL.

      Later,

      Mike

Thanks Mike for the reply, I hope you have fun fishing, I miss doing that when I lived up in Buffalo, NY.  We had the best of both worlds, with having the ability to fish for multitude of different fish.

  2. Thanks everyone for your replies, all good things to consider. So today I hope to receive the "Jerry" video in the mail. Will watch several times then will proceed. Seeing that I have already purchased the spring kit from Jerry's site and its installed, I may start experimenting with the different rebound springs to get the personal feel and to ensure the primers ignite. I did notice that I am seeing the hammer hitting the left side underneath the firing pin, this might be causing a little bit of the light strike issue when I have the pull set at 7-7.5 lbs. I may need to shim the hammer a bit. Also the hammed where it hits the firing pin does not look like it hits it flush. Not sure if this is a hugh issue or not.
  3. Thanks everyone, So I dont think the issue is with my primer depth. I just reloaded a bunch and found on the average they are seated @ .003 Unless I am totally of base and they should be deeper so I am on to the next step and have ordered JM's trigger video. Once that is off my checklist, I would think the next logical thing is to try different rebound slide springs.
  4. Stupid question...... do you have to remove the Compensator for it to be USPSA legal ?
  5. Hello, I recently purchased a 625JM along with Jerry's spring kit. I have also added the Cylinder & Slide extended firing pin. I have a Dillon 650 press that I use for my .45 loads. Primmers are Federal. I have been reading that people are setting or have thier trigger pull under 7lbs. I have mine set at 7.5 and have been getting some very light strikes. I use a Lyman digital scale to measure the pull. What the hell am I doing wrong.... besides getting into shooting a 6 shot revolver when all the other kids have 8 shots. I try to seat the primmers the same everytime and did see that cool device Alecmc created to stop the preassure on his press, but I have a strong mount on mine so don't think that would work. Right now I am setting it at 8.5 and it seems to work more consistently but knowing the lighter pull is better so reducing would be better Please help a NOOB out...... Any and all suggestions are welcome
  6. They have cut down on the amount of time it takes to get the results completed and posted.... Same night ! Our first time using them we tried the "walk up" feature and it was hard to manage, so we score the ones that are walk ups on paper then add them to the match. This saved lots of time and was very easy to do (better then the walk up feature). Since we have online registration, and run 4 squads (2 AM & 2 PM), I can enter all the shooters Friday or Sat before the match, and then place them into squad 5 for AM and squad 6 for PM. then the morning of the match, I can sort by squad 5, and squad the Am shooters to either squad 1 or 2 depending on sign up and in the PM do the same thing with squad 6.
  7. Put the plow on the FJ and since it is your wife's truck, have her go out and plaw to make extra money for your shooting habit....
  8. Knowing Sonny is mainly an IDPA shooter, I would assume that he did his homework and if he said it's legal it shoud be legal.
  9. My daughter thought of some ideas and one was to put cardboard wings on a target (back) to make it look like Bat wings. Not sure if this is legal or not, still looking through the rules but haven't found anything yet. As we are level 1 match, many of the shooters are saying who cares do what you want and if you complain, don't show up.... it is for fun at least this match is......
  10. Been here, and loved it..... I am stealing the idea of the hard cover Vamp's I am going to play with wrapping targets in toilet paper to mimic Mummy's. I figured the TP was easy enough to replace or stick a new piece on with some spray adhesive. Going to use some large sheets of cardborad to create tombstones..... As we don't have power at the range (would need to run generator), i was thinking of doing that idea someone had of using a strobe light on swingers, but this may cause issues. Maybe throw some dry ice into the mix..... but having a limited budget may not be able to afford the dry ice
  11. i had the same problem but adjusted the little plastic screw on where the trigger guard sets on. and it seems to help a lot
  12. When you all did a Halloween Match were all the stages created around the Halloween theme or just a single stage?
  13. Check out this site http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp I reload for my G35 and use that site to get a ballpark. bullet wt multipled by velocity divided by 1000 = Power factor so if you use 231 at the starting load 4.1grs you would get this... 180 x 797 /1000 = 143pf make sure you watch you pressure ratings too.
