  1. Mister, Les Baer is building the H.C.40 on a Caspian Hi-Cap frame. While I have not shot one I have handled them a tthe shot show and the build seems good. The H.C. 40 mags do not confirm to the box as delivered. They are using an extended base pad that conforms to the Mag Gauge used in USPSA. Using a Grams Tanfoglio spring and follower I can get 20 rounds in my Caspian Hi-Cap .40 mags. Caspian has an IDPA base pad that when used with the Grams Tanfoglio spring and follower and tuning the spring I should be able to get 18 rounds. BTW Travis Tomasie used a Caspian Hi-Cap .40 to win the 2008 USPSA Limited Division and the 2008 IPSC Standard Division Championship Alan
  2. You could always introduce them to it by setting the star so it does not rotate for the first couple of matches and then "Free the Star" Alan
  3. If I was attending the match I would suggest you use your 6" limited gun. ( while I would use my 5" singlestack 38 Super) But I will not be there so shoot the single stack.
  4. "So the trick is learning to operate at the upper levels of your speed capabilities, but not so far that accuracy is affected negatively enough to cause you to score poorly. Here is the challenge: “What is too fast?”. I think it is when you are shooting at a speed that causes error to happen. Not when you can’t catch the problem, but when you cause the problem. This then is merely a lack of skill and is simple to identify although not easy to correct. Most of my practice is trying to learn to do something I am not sure I am capable of, and some of my practiceis spent operating at a pace I can repeat easily to give me confidence. I spend more time on the former than the latter, but realize I am more apt to shoot a score in a match that is on the lower side of my skill range than the higher. In summary, I think shooting fast is when you find the balance between speed and accuracy where you shoot to the highest level of your ability." Rob Leatham from Rob Leathams blog - "What is fast?" 5. Another tip. look to setup for a cross bay shot, where the shooter is moving between 45 and 90 degrees. Better chance of having the berm in the background.
  6. Nope, Linda Chico is doing stats and the squadding. Just include your squad requests when you send in your app Alan Thanks.... There is plenty of room on the bottom of the appllcation for squad requests. Or just email your request. My policy on squadding is real simple: I intend to honor all squad requests. Period. I am a shooter, too, and I think when you spend that much money on a big match, you should be able to shoot with your friends. There are only 3 reasons why I would NOT be able to honor a request 1. The person you want to shoot with is not in the match (they never registered or they withdrew from the match) 2. The person you requested to squad with is shooting on a different day. 3. There are more than 10 shooters who wish to be squadded together. I will email you if there is any problem with your squad request. If you do not hear from me, everything is fine. If you get to the match & it is not right, I will fix it. See you at the range. Linda Chico (L-2035) 2009 Area 8 Statistician All of the above are some of the reasons why I asked Linda to be the Area 8 Stats officer this year. Thanks in advance Linda for the great job you will do. Alan

  8. Looking at the stage results (interim) on USPSA.org there are a lot of ties on the stage. It appears to be the standards, fixed time, no HF, points shot are your stage points. But I am in VA and things could look different in IL.
  9. I am sure has a slot laying around his house still. He probably even has it framed by now.

  11. I'm also interested in an answer to this question. Has this been submitted to DNROI for interpretation/ruling. That is where the official process begins
  12. Yep ChuckS it is those darn left coasters causing trouble again
  13. The combined USPSA Rule book that is on the USPSA Web is just a combination of the previously existing USPSA Rule Books. The pending ruling on Production Division is not incorporated into the any of the rule books at this time. The Production Division ruling is not implemented yet. Alan
  14. Here is the notice from the 2009 Area 8 Multigun Match Director that was sent to the staff. The 1 1/2 day format has been changed to a Single Day Match as outlined below. Alan Meek USPSA Director Area 8 A8MGC staff, Dean and I appreciate the very helpful suggestions you have sent and we think we have reached a conclusion that will satisfy everyone. There are two major issues we needed to address. Cutting costs to remain financially viable and attracting more shooters. To these ends we have decided to change the match to a single day format. This should help with both of our major goals. A single day match should attract those shooters that were reluctant to pay for a hotel room, and shoot two days. It will also save us a night hotel stay for all of our staff. -We will cut the match to 7 stages. We can run up to 70 shooters in one day on 7 stages. We did it last year without a problem. -We will review the stages we have already designed. Keep the best ones, and make some modifications to better suit the new format. -We have decided to keep the entry fee the same. It is the same as we charged last year for the same number of stages we propose for this year now. Changing the fee at this point would only complicate matters. -We will cut set-up staff on Thursday to a skeleton crew to save on hotel expenses that night. -Staff will still shoot on Friday as planned. Squads will be small. It worked last year. -All staff who shoot on Friday and work on Saturday will still have hotels paid for Friday night as previously planned. -Saturday we will tear down after the match. Shooters and all staff will be asked to help. If everyone pitches in this should take minutes. The Topton club has a new system of palletizing props and targets that makes set-up and tear-down much quicker and easier. -We will do prize distribution only after teardown is complete. Staff reimbursement will not be quite as generous as previously planned, but we won't be asking nearly as much work of you. Most of you will only be needed Friday and Saturday, where we were asking for 4 full days before. I hope these changes suit you. For the most part they are the same as many of you suggested. Dean and I assure you that with these measures now in place this match is positively still on. We have faith that with your help it will still be a great match. Thanks, Howard
  15. Last year they did run the Chrono, just no scale or a box. I would bet this year they will have the USPSA box and a scale along with the Chrono.
  16. Tried to setup a shot this last weekend. Did not come out well as I was holding the camera with the left hand and shooting strong hand. I will try again this coming weekend and see what I might be able to work out
  17. But George is the expert on the slide forward range command
