  1. I think you're better off not using the FCD with the plated bullets, FMJ, CMJ, JHP, yes. I would hazard a guess that when you use the FCD, it is resizing the bullet while in the case & when it comes back out of the die the brass springs back a little enough for the the bullet to be loose enough to setback. I tried using the FCD with lead & had setback issues. Went back to a regular crimp die & haven't had any issues since.
  2. The magwell will help where you are looking to gain some speed, & can be removed for your IDPA needs. The heavy insert on the DP Ice would be a good addition for you.
  3. Sounds good! Good luck & have fun.
  4. Nice! I don't know why I ever sold my previous Gen2 17's..
  5. Your gun sounds good to go. Like others have said, you can shoot as is or add on a magwell & call it done for limited.
  6. Disassemble the slide & get a light & a magnifying glass & look down the striker channel & see if there are any gouges or excessive powder fouling or other crud buildup in the channel liner. The striker spring might be binding inside of it during firing or worst case is so worn it slides along with the striker assembly. Check the extractor channel also.
  7. An undersize die might be good to go with lead if the case is properly expanded & belled. Nimitz I am assuming you are using a Dillon press if so, the powder/expander funnel should be within spec for a lead bullet. A Lee CFCD will probably work but may deform the bullet after being run through it. The case may spring back but the bullet won't. YMMV.
  8. Are the Missouri bullet profiles the same as the others you tried? That can make a big difference in how they can be loaded to a specific application. How far into shooting them did the problems occur? Was it from the get go or progressively?
  9. Hi hal1955 I use a Burris FFIII on a slide ride like yours, Just for comparison, my major load 6.6grns. of WAC under a 124grn MG HP 167PF locks the slide back with a 15lb. Wolff spring. G17 with a Carver 4 port comp & KKM barrel. Did some experimenting today at the range to chrono & tried firing a round with no mag in & all three times it shot the case straight down through the grip. I get consistent ejection till slidelock then it seems to go any direction off the top of the follower. I took a non-LCI bearing from my old spare parts & put that in & it added more tension on the extractor, you could try that if you have one around. I've heard of all the erratic extraction/ejection problems so I'm trying to find my old other spare parts to try & find my early Gen 2 extractors & compare them to the new LCI ones.
  10. Do you still have your factory guide rod assembly? Try that first. I had issues like that with my G21 with a Wolff style guide rod & springs. I went with an ISMI flat spring & guide rod. No hang ups & my brass goes flying about 8-10 feet to the 4 o'clock after that.
  11. I don't recall seeing a tungsten guide rod for a 6", but I just use a machined 1/4" bolt for a guide rod the length of the slide.
  12. My open Glock steel load, 4.4 W231 under a 124grn MG HP. 10lb. recoil spring. Very soft load for me. Chrono average 1000fps.
  13. One of the guys in our club has one. He borrowed my Rock Chucker to push through some .40's. I told him to use a Dillon die with the decapping stem removed. He tried & tried to get it to work but couldn't get enough leverage to push them through. He got frustrated & ordered the Casemaster Jr. Long story short, I showed him that the press has all the leverage you need just by adjusting the die height in the press head & allowing the ram to go almost to the end of the stroke. He had the die screwed all the way down in the press & couldn't get the needed leverage.
  14. If you wanted to, you could combine the attributes of the available options, For my .45 Para-Ord. Comminolli Framesaver tungsten guide rod, Officer's ACP spring cut in half for the main buffer, steel ring spacer, then a Commander recoil spring. So I have a recoil system that is muzzle heavy, with a heavy buffer spring, that I can tune to different loads by changing the main (Commander)recoil spring. The spacer provides the break point where the buffer spring comes in to play. At the last 3/4" of travel the buffer spring starts to compress, acting like the recoilmaster. I use reduced variable power Wolff Commander springs that can be had in spring weights from 7 to 21 pounds, so it's very tunable for various loads. I've never had to go higher than 14lbs. with 185PF loads back in the late 90's.
  15. I think that's the Casemaster Jr. from Magma Engineering. If I remember correctly it's an arbor press with a Dillon sizing die mounted in it. I use a 9mm Makarov die that was opened up to .391 on my Rock Chucker II, it only sizes the case web area. I run them through the press after that.
  16. Good to know I should send them an email to find out when I can get mine.
  17. Hmmmmm.....McGlock, I wonder if this something I may have PM'ed you about a little while back.....
  18. Pretty much my take on it. I did see a highlight where one of the contestants said, "It's cool to have an opportunity like this because people like me don't get chances to do this stuff." Couldn't think of any other place to do stuff like this, huh? CM Stephen Colbert talked about it on his show. Something to the effect of if they wanted to know what it would have been like to be in a military battle, they should have enlisted. That pretty much made up my mind that this show is nothing but a circus for sheep. Funny that an anti-gun network wants to get ratings by turning war scenarios in to games. If they really wanted reality send them to a hotspot.
  19. Thanks Nox, I was using a 16lb. spring in that video with those 184PF loads. It should be clarified that adding a comp to a Glock can dramatically reduce ejection from the loss of slide recoil inertia. I put the ejector in for a little insurance.
  20. The PPSA have always hosted excellent matches. Never been to Mindanao, only matches in Luzon. My friend's family is inviting me over next time to stay in Bohol, Cebu for a few days, just planning right now. Their little girl calls me Tito Troy!
  21. I don't really want to drill my frame so I'm going to get a Carver mount, & machine a 90 degree mount for a C-More for it. My buddy has some aluminum angle scrap that we are going to adapt to fit to the Carver mount.
  22. My very first 2011 open build, Caspian slide, STI frame, Shuemann fitted barrel with EGW 7 port comp, C-More Serendipity, .38 Super in 1996. Sold it a couple months later. Second, factory built SVI Infinity in .38 Super also, first year the interchangeable breechfaces came out (1998?) Tasco Optima slide cut. Same as the attached pic but not with the hybri-ports. Sold that caused I needed the money for my wife's medical treatment. For me the S_I grip frame never felt comfortable. I always shot my Glocks & was very comfortable with them. I went with an open Glock due to cost & easier availability of components.
  23. That is pretty weird, try Coco's suggestion of using another chrono, other than that maybe it's the different rifling used between the Para & your HK. CocoBolo, factory ammo is hella expensive in the PI, as is owning a gun & competing in IPSC for that matter. If I remember correctly, you have to have a permit to own a loading press. Last time I was there, .45 brass sold for $1.25 a piece US. VV powder is very reasonable though. They sure can throw a match though, you will actually get every piece of brass that you fired out of your gun. They can have a field course ready for another shooter in 30 seconds or less. You will always have some one to attend to you along with awesome Philippine cuisine & let's just say that after the shooting day is done, the nightlife is just well, very interesting.
  24. No expert on bullet design, but RN was probably used to make mimic practice ammo that would function in military styled pistols for reliability. TC/FN supposedly would transfer more energy during impact with an object & flatten more to prevent over penetration. All conjecture on my part though.
