retired shooter considering coming back to the action
fishhunter3 replied to candyman's topic in Introduce Yourself
I quit in the early 90's and started up a few years ago after 15 years off. the fun part is if you start back up with a new club, I showed up with my old wilson LE and E hill speed leather gear. most had never seen such a thing, one of the RO's(an older shooter) pulled me to the side and told me I was p---ing off some the guys as a new was beating there scores with gear the never seen before. -
I have 2 open glock 22's with conversion barrels, you have to change the ejector( some guns will need an extended ejector) and lowering the ejection port to function. and I use 10 lb ismi springs.I think the big issue with the 35 conversion is weight of the slide and barrel(a lot of mass to move around), you have to use 9mm major loads to function, and the will not function reliably with minor loads. there is no safety issues with the breach face.

Need load recs for my new open major Glock
fishhunter3 replied to waynes_world_45's topic in Open Pistols
Some controversy re: using FMJ in open guns at 9mm major levels. My experience is that after shooting a few thousand of them in my TruBor, my comp was clogged - guess if I had devoted some time to spraying it before I shot it and cleaning it after I finished, I may not have had a problem. BUT, lot easier to just use JHP's rather than FMJ in 9mm major. Or just us MG 124 cmj and 6.8-7.2 WAC, mine 6.8 for a 172 PF -
G2 g22 are every were and cheap to buy, add a 9mm 40 conversion barrel.Gen 2 have no finger groves, making stippling easy. and the 9mm conversion barrel is a thicker heavy barrel

Questionable Power Factor at a local match
fishhunter3 replied to bthoefer's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
I have one person at the local club that is always says things about my load for my revo being light, shot the same load at the revo nationals and it came in at 182.some powders are just not as loud as others. -
do you have the slide stop in backwards,if it is the barrel is set back a bit and you will have feed issues
-
I've had 2 open guns done by bobby carver very nice and good turn around
-
more who is not shooting a 625 besides me? I'm shooting a 5" 610 (no dash) with 40 S&W.
-
it's a gen 2 g22 police trade in, with a kkm 9mm conversion barrel SJC 11 port comp and a SJC 90 deg c more mount, bobby carver did the slide work and I did the frame stipple and mount cuts, Zev tec trigger and carver mag well. next time I"ll let carver do the mount not to difficult but nerve racking.

Explain Why You like shooting Revolvers Or
fishhunter3 replied to IPSC_PRO's topic in Revolver Forum
I had a big K boom with my open glock and started shooting my old 610 while the glock was down. I forgot how much fun it is beating autos with a revo, I don't finish on top overall with a revo but usually better than half way. And besides when I show up at some clubs some people say "not larry I hate getting beat by a revo" and the open gun is running, but is in the safe and has not been to a match in 6 months. -
been shooting revo for the last 6 months getting ready for nationals, everything is coming along went from a 32% classifier score to a 58% in 3 months and starting to shoot with the local Ltd guy as of late, I am starting to notice the gun locking up and I have to push the trigger forward a bit (not even enough that you would notice) I don't think I'm fully resetting the trigger. replaced the springs with a new Wilson spring kit and used the 13# rebound spring. everything else looks good. I can sit here and dry fire and get it to lock up but if I focus on trigger reset all is well and work fine, I think I'm just trying to push to hard

at those prices if I sold my 22 ammo I could almost get that Barrett I been looking at, not for a few hundred investment 3 months ago

coolest and funnest stage ive ever seen
fishhunter3 replied to littletoe's topic in Stage Comments or Questions
The most fun match was my 1st. it was with the old eifel combat pistol team (a bunch of US and Can military and a some locals) 1984 while I was stationed in Germany. It was called fort apache night fight it was 1 stage with 12 targets and no shoots, we shot it at night the only light was several buckets with fire burning in them, placed 2nd D class and I have been hooked from that time on. I have always wanted to try that again.
