  1. Looking forward to this match. Thank god Tulsa isnt that far from KC...lol. See you all there... Bass
  2. My chrono is pretty much dead on as well. Usually doesnt matter if its sunny, or a bit cloudy. Good luck with the Solo... Bass
  3. Its just not a good idea to do it, but it does happen. People often forget count on reloads and such, and theres always a chance a slug will hit steel and a somewhat close distance. But is dangerous to be sure. Theres a reason you can use shot and slugs on a course of fire. Bass
  4. Two strokes were no longer able to be produced as of 2006. So its not necessarily that people wanted 4 strokes more. Its just by law no one could manufacture 2 strokes any more. I would imagine it would be the same for piston/DI if the government said no more DI guns could be made. Then by default, everyone would either go to a piston gun or change platforms altogether. Bass
  5. I have really, really tried to like this powder and make it work for my 9mm minor loads with 124gr bullets. Out of my M&P I cant get up to 130PF like I want without going way over max, and not really feeling comfortable with it. I do however use it in some .40 and .45 loads though. I just wish it worked in 9mm for me. work up your loads slowly, and make sure you really watch the chrono. Good luck... Bass
  6. I honestly tried a 2.5-10 right before the FN Midwest 3gun and almost went with it. But the FOV and relief werent even close to what I was used to with the TR24G I normally use. I figured I would be better off using something I was really familiar with than using something that I wasnt, even if it meant giving up some magnification. I still think I was right... Bass
  7. I am seriously thinking about taking one of Mannys classes. I know I dont know so I hope I can get better. I think this is the way to do it. Bass
  8. The Brownells spring is pretty much the right length, but the one from Nordic is longer out of the package. I cut mine down to about 13" out of the tube and it feeds really well. It doesnt take that much force to put that last shell in and still feeds the last one reliably. Bass
  9. I picked up a couple pairs of these at a competition, and I have to say, I will not go back. They are comfortable and do a great job of reducing noise. Bass
  10. Yeah, thats a pretty good deal on Hornady bullets. I might have to order some of these myself... Bass
  11. I use Clays in my 9mm minor production loads for competition. I switched from Titegroup because I like the recoil impulse from Clays so much better. I ran 3.6gr Clays under a PD 124 JHP at area 5 and it made 129.9 PF, but the temps were kind of low. I have chrono'd this load extensively and found that Clays isnt really temp sensitive at all (maybe 10-15fps change). I load out to 1.12 for my M&P 9Pro. If you need any more info, dont hesitate to contact me, or just post back here. Bass
  12. I have to agree with this. If the projectiles you are using are plated, then thats exactly the amount of Titegroup I use. Bass
  13. Its too bad Matt isnt shooting area 3. I had a chance to watch him at area 5 and I must say it was very entertaining. I wish I could watch again at area 3. I wont be running a wheel gun this year, but hopefully in the near future. Bass
  14. I have a pro as well, and after about 2000 rounds through it, it smoothed up and still breaks clean. I might want a trigger job done on it in the future, but I always shoot my guns for a couple thousand rounds first. Bass
  15. Already reserved my room, going to send my registration in, in a couple weeks. Cant wait for this one. Bass
  16. Kurt, I have to say it is nice to see that one of the regular good ole boys has a great attitude and did very well in this event despite conditions and glitches. Its attitudes like this that will bring more and more people out to see what 3 gun is all about. And they will learn its all about having a good time, and getting to shoot great stages and the BS with people like you. Thank you for that. Bass
  17. I was on a squad that had 2 DQ's on the same stage, and almost one after the other. It was just not making sure that the chamber was empty. Plain and simple, nothing more nothing less. One of the two said this was not his first time it had happened. Rules are rules, and if you dont know them, and abide by them, its your fault, not the RO's, MD's, or any one else. And yes, you can just shoot the last round out till your gun is empty. Both had thought they did this, and both had not. I take personal responsibility for making sure my weapons are empty when I place them in the barrel. If I make a mistake, its my fault, not anyone elses, and knowing that I was unsafe would bother me more than being DQ'd. Many people forget that outside our world of shooting, people dont see things the same way. All it would take is one accident where someone got shot, or even killed, and it would all pretty much be done. There is no room in any match for any safety issues. Let me put my flame suit on... Bass
  18. Yeah, I forgot to mention (damn theres a lot of stuff going on in my head after this weekend) the prize table was absolutely phenomenal. Everyone got some great stuff. I mean everyone. All entires down to the last place finisher got a prize or grab bag of truly great stuff. The USPSA could learn a lot from this event and the other 3 gun events. There is HUGE industry support for these matches. Bass
  19. My first major 3 gun match, and my mind is still swimming with thoughts and replays of the weekend. Learned so much, and obtained a couple goals I set for myself. I didnt get a DQ, I didnt finish dead last, and actually had a decent stage or two and a decent section of a stage or two. I had a rifle problem on stage 1 and had to take 135 seconds for not engaging and neutralizing 9 targets. What a bummer, but after a trip back home (over 2 hours drive) and a swap of BCG, I crossed my fingers and came back on day 2 and had a good day. Now if I could just shoot a little bit better. Maybe next year. The FNH guys that ran this event did one hell of a job and even with a couple issues, I think everyone walked away pretty happy. I know I will be back next year. Many thanks to the ROs who worked tirelessly and with competitors that werent always happy, they shined. On another note, I had the privilege of watching a fine display of rifle marksmanship on our last stage that we had to shoot at 7am this morning. On stage 6, there were 7 long range rifle targets. One of the targets, the 402 yard target, was a bonus target, and did not have to be engaged, and then the other 6 were from 100+ to almost 300 yds. My friend and fellow KC area shooter, fired just 7 shots from his AR and hit all 7 targets. Not one extra round was fired. After his run, even the "pro" shooters from the next squad to shoot, gave him a round of applause. It was really good to see someone shoot so well. Many thanks to all that I gleaned tips, and info from all weekend long, see you all next year... Bass
  20. To be aware of everything around you, but to not be consumed by it. Bass
  21. Well since I wont technically have a classification in Production until after Area 5 is over...and I have been dying to shoot my 625 in a match, I am going to try like hell to make it over there for this. I should know in the next day or two. Bass
  22. I usually tend to stay out of things like this, but I wanted to say that I am fairly new to reloading, and own a 550B. I chose this press because it was more versatile for me for loading the 5 pistol, and two rifle calibers I currently load for. I have had a squib with a single stage, and was really embarrassed by it. I have not had a double charge, or a squib with the 550 and think its almost tougher to do that than load properly with it. I like the fact it doesnt index with every handle stroke, it reminds me to visually check every case before I seat a bullet. To each their own I guess. I guess it just kind of irks me that people say "Dont get the 550B because its not as safe to use as the 650". It is, because it all boils down to paying attention to what you are doing, and taking responsibility for your actions. I truly believe there are some people out there that arent suited to reloading their own ammunition. They arent detail oriented enough, or dont have the time to pay attention. But again, just my opinion. And as far as the anti-lock break comment. I dont agree. I worked as an ASE certified mechanic for over a decade, and believe that people that can drive well, and pay attention are more able to escape situations without anti-lock brakes. While I do think its a great technological advance, it basically came about because people are lazy and dont pay attention to what they are doing when they drive. Do they save lives, of course, but so does paying better attention and actually taking the time to become a good driver. Bass
  23. Are the "Rugged Gear" type 3 gun carts going to be allowed if you have to carry from stage to stage muzzle up? Bass
  24. I use the Bladetech belt holster, not the DOH. The rules dont allow the DOH in SS. Bass
  25. I have the Converse suede tan side zipper 8" boots. I am on my second pair because I absolutely love these boots. They are all I shoot in if its outdoors. Great traction, the soles seem to self clean free of mud and debris. They are lightweight, and wear like a tennis shoe, very comfortable especially when wearing them all day and its really hot outside. They breathe pretty well too. I wear Under Armor socks in them, so I never feel like my feet are sweating no matter how hot it is. I usually buy one pair a year whether I need them or not...lol. Bass
