Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I'm looking at one of these too. Trying to decide if I want to go this way or with the cheaper Leatherwood CMR. I like everything about the scope except the reticle .. I like more of a TMR reticle.. but I think I'm going to order one and see how it works. Midway is usually really good with returns just in case. I'll post a review also when it arrives.
  2. Check out my signature... I like the 10-8 .140 wide rear with the Warren trintium front sight on my carry guns.. I prefer the thinnest all black (non-trintium) front Warren has on my Production gun.. same rear. Love the big wide rear with the thin front for fast aquisition. http://www.10-8performance.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=24_32&products_id=39&osCsid=2e8ffa86cb4c75ba395bcd58a8b2d9e0
  3. Well said... can't put it in any better context than that. I'll start doubleing up and look for a pair of low profile passives and some MSA's. Hopefully I can find a comfortable combination for rifle as well. Thanks everyone for your input.
  4. So it seems different protection for different circumstances.. makes sense. I do 95% of my shooting outdoor.. hate indoor ranges. So if I'm going to double plug, are electronics needed? Could I get away with a decent pair of passives? Does the electronics do more to help than just give me a better ability to hear others? I do want to protect my hearing first and foremost. Also, what molded plugs do you use(passive)?
  5. I started out years ago when I was poor using a plain ol' 24db set of ear muffs. I found them really hot in the summer and cumbersome on the bench shooting rifle. So I deligated them for use with power tools around the house and went with the orange ear plugs (32db I believe). They work great when used properly and I can still hear most people if I'm close enough. I was thinking about getting some electronic muff but don't want to drop the cash if I'm going to find them as uncomfortable as my old pair.

Thanks guys... I'll see how they run.. they are my backup mags at the moment. I'll probably just pick up some new factory mags since the price is back down to resonable prices (for Glock mags at least).

I have a bunch of various year manufacture regular capacity (15rd .40cal ) mags all FML factory. They have a mixed bag of followers (5,6,8). I've noticed the 6's and 8's eject with authority.. but the 5's just kind of slide out. Are the followers interchangeable among the mags? Is there one follower better than the other?

    g35 or g34

You can't swap out the barrels for production from one caliber to the other.. I wish b/c I have that setup. What I have done is loaded down my .40 reloads to about factory 9mm specs. I have a bigger/heavier bullet with the same recoil as 9mm basically. Now if I want to use the G35 in Limited I just have to load up my rounds to major factor, pop on a mag well and I'm ready to roll with my same rig. Save some money and just get a Lee Pro progressive.. they are like $150 with dies and gives you a auto powder feeder and auto indexing.. you just have to do the bullets by hand. It's not a Dillon or Hornady but it's also 1/3rd the cost. I can load 200 rounds in 2 hrs and 1K in a week.. I don't need them faster than that. Just my .02
  9. All I did was upgrade my sights (see my signature).. I stuck with a plain black front as I prefer it for Production and really like the .140 wide rear notch..gives plenty of light around the narrow front sight. Filed down the mag release corners to make less sharp/pointy. Then dremeled off the extended slide release (the bump part) b/c my thumb kept hitting causeing the slide to stay back and me to LOSE TIME!!! Gerrr.. Pretty much it so far... the more I use it the more I'll find out what I want to change. Good luck!
  10. Excellent! I follow what you guys are saying now. Thanks for all the help.
  11. Great thread.. I've found I suffer from this same issue.
  12. So from what I'm reading.. I want to establish a good form and be able to repeatidly have my sight picture based on my form. Then once I have that base form set it should be instinctive for my form to follow my eyes. In all essence I don't use my sights any longer once I have that base form locked down b/c my form will automatically form my sight picture. Is this correct? Once I can do that I would need to practice my trigger technique and syncing my release with my target aquision?
  13. Thanks guys.. I found some good threads via the search and went ahead and ordered the 3 book package on Brian's site. This should give me a good base to work from along with all the great information on here. Can't wait till the books get here.
  14. I shot my second match this last weekend and first time in a year. I noticed a few things and need to understand how to improve on them going forward. On setup I take my time an do a mental runthrough of how I am going to attack the stage as well as physically walk it and do my setups and amining with my hands. Problem comes once I hear that beep. All the sudden the stage is over and I have no idea what I did.. can't remember if I used my front sight or just did point shooting, my grip placement, if I ran or walked.. everything is a blur. Does this just come with practice and experience. I shoot OK but not great and had a few miss hits but overal mostly A-C's. Thanks
