I mentioned it to a couple of fellow wheelgunners and they sound interested in the USPSA part but none of us are IDPA members and aren't looking to join. I know membership is required for regionals and such, would that be the case here. And if IDPA membership is required, could we just shoot the USPSA side of the match? Maxfire and HKS both make & 7 shot speedloaders. Dillon has the maxfire and the HKS ones you can get about anywhere. I haven't tried Maxfire but i have a handful of the HKS ones around somewhere. Chris

I just bought a new computer and I was wondering if there was a good way to transfer files from my old pc to my new one. The old one doesn't have a cd/rw or anything that easy and there are quite a few mp3 files and the like that I would like to keep. The old is an EMachine with Windows 98 if that matters and the new is a Dell with XP. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Chris

Was my fav of the three. Had the same Wizard of Oz thought. The cavalry charge was right up there with The Lighthorseman charge scene (also liked the cavalry coming down the hill at the end of LOTR II). Was worth the wait but wanted to see the battle of the shire from the book. Good flik. Chris

I thought it was you could only shoot a max of 6 shots between reloads, but could reload what ever the cylinder held. Am I missing it? Chris

Chad, There is a .38 super 6 shot 686 set up with moon clips available now. I'm sure that is the one to which downzero is referring. I haven't shot or tried to reload the .38 super 686 but comparing my 625 to my moon clipped 6 and 7 shoot 686's is no contest. The .45's always land in the right spot. But from a shooting stand point I love the L frame. If I could only have one, I'd take an L. Chris

Yeah, I meant to write (flame) this POS the day I saw it. Really liked the book but the movie was a real stinker. Loved the part about the gun maker advertising his product as "finger print resistant" so criminals would be more likely to buy it. And that was one b*tt-ugly pistol. They did everything to villify the gun guys except give 'em pitch forks and barbed tails, while the grabbers always held the moral high ground. At least I only paid the twilight fee for it instead of full price. Chris

I know the feeling, last Christmas my wife and I gave my 12 year old son a S&W 686+. When he open the box I was expecting a big reaction, but he just sat and stared at it for about 5 minutes. Then he looked up and asked "did I open the wrong box?" When he was sure it was really his, he left the rest of his presents un-opened and went to his room. Came back in a few minutes fully dressed and carrying his eyes and ears. Best money I ever spent and I shot more film then bullets when he took it to his first steel match. Now, what to get him for USPSA?? I love kids. Chris

Hi, first let me say that I am a revolver guy and that I don't think anyone needs a reason to buy a new gun, I just have a question (that was intended as a "flame-proof" disclaimer). Is a 686 in .38super a good IDPA (which I've never shot) set-up or is there another need driving the develpoment? Pardon my ignorance if this comes out as a stupid question but I've been curious about a possible use since I saw that S&W was producing one. Thanks, Chris

Hey Duck, A Texas Star is a hub with five arms, each arm holds a steel plate which can be knocked off when shot. When a plate comes off the star becomes unbalanced and rotates on the hub. You can get one for $400.00 which includes extra parts form Terry Ashton tel #915-655-2809. There is a video and a couple of pictures under the competition section of KRTraining.com, just scroll down about half way. There is also a doc file with ordering information for the star. I've shot one several times in steel matches and it's a fun target. Hope this helps. Chris
