  1. The rule seems to vary a little from match to match but is usually 44 caliber or larger and limited to 10 rounds at the start.
  2. Richie, Contact Chuck @ www.shootersconnection.com Heck of a nice guy and he can take care of all your needs. Rodney
  3. TGO won the match. Shot in the rain all morning to pull off the win. Excellent acceptance speech. He's truly is TGO. Friday's weather was great and today was the slop all day. Rain until lunch and no rain with a temperature drop and wind after lunch. Another truly great match despite the weather!
  4. Richard, I use Metalform 10rd 10mm mags(steel follower) since I load to 1.2"OAL. They have worked flawlessly. The Metalform 9 rd mags with the nylon follower usually need to have the follower tuned, and the Metalform 8rd magzines with thestel folower also work great. Rodney
  5. That is fairly normal, especially when using a buff which limits slide stroke.
  6. Not trying to drift the thread. Consider trying Zero 180 JHP's. They feed great with excellent accuracy and you can buy them from Shooters Connection for much less than the HAP's I have seen in bulk lately.
  7. BrianH at Experimental Machining , and fellow forum member, installs tungsten barrel sleeves. If you are not set on an AET barrel the standard Schuemann barrel shoots just as good (my opinion, do a search on the AET vs. non AET for more info) and cost less. The price difference would almost cover the cost of having the barrel sleeved.
  8. My 9mm shorty specs out like this: 8 5/8" OAL shortened goverment slide Nowlin barrel and new style Brazos cone comp
  9. Jerry, I expected to see a Gold. Are your headed to the dark side? Looks good though.
  10. I have never had any problems with Schuemann barrels and have used the standard and AET type. I have never used anything except jacketed bullets.
  11. Rhino, You bet, I am looking forward to the warmer weather.
  12. Harmongreer, I was weighing as I made the milling cuts on the sides and the top and can not remember the exact amount since I did not write them down, but I think it was around 0.8 oz for the spring plug area. How flat does it shoot realative to perceived recoil? That is a good question. But the reality is I can 'see' and 'track' the sights much better than with my 5" pistol. So based on that, it is much better for me and I am sure that 'seeing' better will = better shooting with all the other variables kept constant. IMO...anything will work for anyone, it just comes down to what we individually shoot the best at a given point in our development as a shooter.
  13. Monster, Here are the details. The slide weights 12oz. The reverse plug is from EGW, frame-saver stainless guide rod with 12.5 lb spring, the complete pistol is just over 37oz. SV hammer, EGW sear, EGW disconnector, SV ambi, STI grip safety, the barrel is from Schuemann and the bushing is from SV. After it is plated, I will post an updated picture.
  14. Here is my new limited gun. After handling the fat free 6" Benny built as the prize gun at Jeff's shotgun match, I really liked the balance and was inspired to build this one. Thanks Benny! Doug Jones did the Accurail installation and I did the rest of the work. It is in the white and will go out for chroming after a few thousand rounds.
  15. Try George Smith @ EGW. Evolution Gun Works
  16. All that is needed is a quick call to Mr. Heinie. Is there any other sight?. Flex, what is an adjustable sight? Is that the new dovetail front sight thingy (technical term) for changing point of impact if someone would happen to make a huge change in the load thay were using?
  17. If I remember the one on my old limited pistol weighed around 3-3.5 ounces.
  18. Try the wilson extended type mag release. You probably will not have to shift your grip for this one . Just make sure your grip does not engage the magazine release. Here is the link from brownells website. Extended Mag release
  19. I would email Russell Cluver (link with email address is below) and ask. I have used Safariland 077 mag pouches for four years and there was never a problem. I thought TGO used 771's or 773's in 2002. Russell can clarify the rule if you have questions. 1911 Socitty FAQ's If you would not mind, post you answer when you get it. Rodney
  20. Anything you can share about the pistol? Is it new? A new barrel? Could there be a tight chamber problem? A tight chamber can give you fits when working up load data. I had similar problem about four years ago after a pistol was rebarreled and traced it back to a very tight chamber. Once it was reamed to spec the pressure problem went away.
  21. Justin, The CR pouches mentioned above are very good mag pouches, but here is a link to Holsters.com where you can pick up some Safariland 077 mag pouches (not the most current Safariland mag pouc, but still very good) for only $6.00 each. Good Mag Pouches for Cheap!
  22. Mike, The elastic side saddle and 2-shell holder are both available (made by) 3 Gun Gear. Here is the link 3 Gun Gear I have their side saddle on my Browning Gold and my Competition Master and they work great and with the velcro attachment thay are easy to add and remove as needed. Hope this helps. Rodney
  23. Kurtm: The new firing pin arrived and the design is different than the broken original. The total mass is the same, but the area that fractured has an increased cross sectional area (about 25% more area). This should be a big help. I'll post results after the next few thousand rounds as to how it is holding up. But I now have a spare so it will probably never break again.
  24. I had a Ghost Rocket and it was OK. I just got my G34 back from Charlie Vanek and I have been smiling ever since. There is something about a perfectly smooth 1.5lb Glock trigger combined with minimal/no overtravel and reduced reset that will do that to you. My input, drop the Rocket, and drop Charlie a line (gunner5@cox-internet.com). He turned my G34 around in two days.
  25. Bryant, The correct dimension is 0.850" -0/+0.010". My AET barrel was about 0.005" short in the chamber and I had the exact problem you are describing. Touched it up with a finish reamer, brought it into spec and now it runs great.
