  1. Engraved 1911's are so nice. Yet another item I need to add to my collection.
  2. I use polarized sunglasses for shooting. The only issue I have is it is difficult to read LED displays like on most timers. You have to tilt the display to just the right angle to be able to read it.

    Glock Ad = Dq

Wow, new trigger bar design. Since Glocks last so long I haven't had the need to buy a new one in several years. Now I'm behind the curve. LOL. Why is it important for the G-21's?
  4. If you bake it I'd take the plastic channel liner out. Channel liners are cheap and easy to replace so it isn't worth the risk. In case you aren't familiar with removing the liner here is one version from http://www.glockfaq.com/gunsmithing.htm How do I remove/install the channel liner? Channel liner removal: Go to the local hardware store and check out the wood screw section. Find a 3 1/2 long 5/16 Lag bolt. The average price is .55 cents. Insert the lag bolt, give it 1 or 2 twists by hand (you will feel it bite into the liner). Now just wiggle it out. The liner will be ruined but they only cost $2 each. Channel liner installation: There are two ends of the channel liner you need to be concerned with. The beveled end and the square cut end. The beveled end needs to be inserted into the slide. Push the channel liner in as far as you can with your finger. Then take a 3/8 dowel and finish pushing it in (the dowel should be pushing on the square cut end). It will be fully installed when you cannot push it in any more. [JR]
  5. I don't have an issue with allowing a slide milling for alternative notch/post sights. It would be interesting to hear from someone who is against allowing the slide to be modified to install some non-factory version of a notch/post sight.

    Glock Ad = Dq

I've never seen a cruciform like the one show in your "top view of cruciforms.jpg" image. It may be that the extra forming is part of the modifications in the kit. Has anyone seen a factory cruciform made like the one shown?

    Glock Ad = Dq

I've seen a couple home gunsmith'ed Glocks that would fire as described. In each case the "take-up" on the trigger had been reduced to the point where the drop safety and the firing pin safety had been disabled. Usually via a set screw, pin, block, etc. in the "muzzle" end of the ejector housing "window".
  8. Here is some spring info from Matt Kartozian of Custom Glock Racing: http://www.custom-glock.com/springtech.html
  9. I've found this is usually operator error. With the Glock slide lock lever it doesn't take much to keep it from activating. Does it happen when the gun is shot left hand only? Could the recoil spring be too strong for the load?
  10. From what I can see the Pro uses dovetailed in Heinie style sights where the original 24/7 did not. This is a good step forward.

    Ccf Raceframe

I like the idea of a stainless Glock frame but the devil is always in the details. I'd be interested in hearing what Matt has to say after trying one out. Any larger than factory magwell options? Seems like the stainless frame would be a candidate for a weld-on magwell, but that would be pretty expensive.
  12. Nice! Your SV collection is getting pretty big.
  13. Many people will always do whatever it takes to win, including taking whatever performance enhancers they can get away with. In our modern world the dopers are often one step ahead of the testers so this year's riders are using something they will figure out how to identify next year. Stuff like EPO that creates a physiological response. It won't be long before it is gene therapy. Start with a good foundation and then leave the details to the doctors.
  14. The standard cool wraps are suprisingly effective and a lot cheaper. It's the other phase change - evaporation. The cap inserts and neck wraps work pretty well. They work best when you have at least a small cooler with you so you can "recharge" them with cool water during the match. Here's some examples: http://www.thermo-cool.com/PeopleCooling.html http://heatreliefdepot.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=21_34
  15. If it's not a problem for you then leave it alone. No use disengaging it for no reason. However it it is a problem (and it is for many people) then pin it and forget it.
  16. SVI/STI magazines are a racket for sure! However the problem is purely market driven. Tooling up to make comparable mags would cost too much for a competitor to stay in business in the relatively small market that is practical shooting. Why haven't the SVI/STI tubes been updated to the new legal size so we don't need expensive basepads? Where are the Caspian 140mm .40 mags? Where are the Glock 140mm and 170mm magazine tubes? I'd say the answer to all of the above is that the practical shooting market is so small that a business can't afford to make these items happen.
  17. YES! you are risking an FTDR by taking an extra shot. Of course people do it all the time and you will never know when that FTDR is coming your way. The question you need to ask yourself is do I want to run that risk or do I want to play it by the book. It is usually better to just shoot to slide-lock where-ever in the target sequence that may be. The difference between reloading on a transition between targets isn't enough to make up for the difference between a slide-lock reload and a reload-with-retention. I think that most shooters over play the gain of reloading on a transition between targets. Find another way to save time.
  18. The other part of Open is the magazine capacity. Not having to reload as often allows the shooter to concentrate on other aspects of the shooting.
  19. Wow Dave, that is a cool blaster! I especially like the checkering on the slide where it is usually serrated and the custom mag button - very trick.
  20. Got a letter in the mail today from USPSA saying that I was bumped to A class in Open for my B class win at Space City Challenge. So it looks like USPSA agrees with Sniper, Shred, and XRE that the B card didn't suit me. LOL. They say that getting out of B is half the battle. Only time will tell.
  21. The headstamp is * 38 SUPERCOMP * so it's easy to tell apart by reading the headstamp. On the ground it's a bit harder.
  22. This same email went out an the texassouthsection email list. It says: ---------- I heard third hand that: "The word came down today from Ken Hicks that Area 4 will happen on Nov 30-Dec 3." Just letting you know. ---------- Still sounds like rumor to me. Hopefully it will be confirmed or denied soon.
  23. A small hand jigsaw wth a fine tooth blade also works well. Clean up with a dremel. I also like the "polish" the edges with a clean cloth buffing wheel on a dremel. At high speed you're really kinda melting the edges but it comes out nice.
  24. Those have to be the biggest iron sights I have ever seen on a shotgun. Can we get a better look at the rear sight?
