  1. At MO3GC we run 14-15 man squads, 75 min time per stage, have a 30 min lunch break, (if any are behind they shoot through lunch) very seldom run behind. Usually finish between 4-5:30 A couple of KEY things that many matches fail at START ON TIME ! Stage times must be fairly close in total time. A 120 avg time and a 40 avg time will screw everybody. Keep walk through at the 5 min. regardless. Use a countdown timer with alarm. it's so easy to burn an extra 5-10 per squad jacking around before/after stage brief. We run a 2 day, 10 stage , ~180 shooters, and do prize table about 3-4pm on 2nd day. Our biggest holdup has been RO's entering scores on the wrong stage. That was actually our fault as RM/MD we missed it , until tallying the finals and everything was jacked.
  2. Yep, coming soon to a range near you. Don't get me wrong PCC could be a good division, unfortunately I see the majority (at least the vocal majority) calling for bigger targets and closer distances, and special concessions to include it in 3 gun. The way many matches are now, it belongs in USPSA with pistol stages. I hope it doesn't go that way, but pistol is also losing favor as "it's too hard to master".
  3. When practicing for my first pcc match we shot skinny sammies at 100 yds with the Eotech XPS, wasn't that hard to hit at least 3/5. I sure don't understand why so many PPC'ers think 100 yds is near impossible ? ? ?
  4. My opinion, we have let the tacops rules get out of line. SG tubes that hold 13+, shell placement that is, in the loading port but not "in" the port, drums in rifles, muzzle supporting devices that are not "bipods", triple/quad coupled mags that are "monopods", wings on base pads, etc. Racing is racing, and if you aren't pushing the envelope, you probably aren't winning. But you also have to have a rule set that delineates the divisions or you end up with essentially one. The guys who can afford to throw down the $$ (may not win) but will discourage beginners who can't/wont, drop the big bucks just to try out a new hobbie. When they see many with $10K+ of stuff, compared to their $2k.
  5. I agree. Kinda like pcc, while it is growing, it hasn't been the FLOOD of new shooters, that pcc'ers said, . some big matches barely got 1/2 the slots filled. I think they will do better next year, hope so. Trying to cater to every whim the "I would shoot competition IF . . . . . " guys toss out there will gain very few, and cost other regulars. Been there, tried that, in other racing sports. The - "I would shoot IF" , guys will ALWAYS be the - "I would shoot IF . . . " guys.
  6. the reason Open shooters are saying "just shoot open" is everybody is pushing to get as close to open without going open. a few examples 13-20 rnd tubes on the SG, so they only load right after the buzzer D-60 drums tri coupled mags, to get around bipod restrictions wings or other mag base additions - see above Starting with SG shells in the mag well/attached at the magwell tac sack or other muzzle supporting devices claiming they, "are not muzzle supporting devices". ie: bipods I could go on The pistol is the only thing left that hasn't been pushed to non TO status. IMO one of the reasons PCC is popular with TO shooters is it's an open "pistol" I would rather shoot my open 2011 than a PCC, but that's not allowed in PCC matches, but it Should be in 3 gun . . . . I've been involved in racing of some sort for 20+ years, the envelope always gets pushed, but you have to have hard and fast rules delineating the divisions otherwise you end up with everybody with the $$ with setups that rival the "top" class division.
  7. VERY few matches design stages that give an Open shooter any advantage, shotgun is the only gun that may give an Open guy an advantage. If your not worried about winning, WHY aren't you shooting your CO gun in Open? I don't think anybody is 100% against a CO division, I just don't see more than 3-5 shooters in most matches. CO is no where near the numbers that "Tac Ops" was when that division was created. When it gets close, I'm sure there will be a division.
  8. TO was created because the majority of shooters already had an optic on their rifle, it, almost immediately, became the biggest division. Once CO pistols are 50% or more of pistols sold/possessed THEN a CO division will be viable. Now - we would be pushing shooters to change what they already have. OR - if allowed in an existing division would force those without a RDS to buy one to stay competitive.
  9. Never shot a steel challenge or similar match but, WOW ! Sweeping your hand while, uncasing an EMPTY gun is a DQ ? (assuming I read that correctly) Yet, Sweeping your leg/foot, while drawing a HOT gun from a holster is OK.
  10. Allowing a dot in Tac is a BAD idea at this point, maybe later when more have them Allowing a 1x dot in irons HAS killed "irons" locally , initially it was done to keep irons entries up. And it did that for a while, now(at least in our monthly's) true Irons is dead and buried. If I remember correctly only 1 last year in all our local matches, I think 3-4 started, but switched to a dot. This year none, that I know of(they have switched to Tac), good chance Irons will go the way of HM. In our Major - paid entries so far - breakdown is, Irons has a good showing, not sure how many will be true IRONS Division Count Tactical Optics 106 Tactical Irons 23 Open 24 Heavy Optics 6 Heavy Irons 2 Our Mid West 3 Gun Series has 3 "irons" at least 2 are shooting a dot, not 100% sure of 3rd. Allowing a dot in Tac will force everyone who wants to be competitive to go there as well. BAD for new shooters. In the end you will lose more shooters than you gain.
  11. Still have Senior in every division - for those who have to "win" something

  17. Take your gear, signup, tell your squad it's your first match, they will help and you will both learn 10X as much as watching and asking questions, and have a ton of fun at the same time.
  18. Shooting a black steel target, in the shadows(trees), late in the afternoon. The black reticle was still visible on the target, but red was quicker.
