  1. J. Austin from the forums here makes a spring loaded moon clip holder. You load it up, and the spring pushes the next moon clip to the end. You always grab in the same place for a fresh moon. Tom
  2. I hope your making that announcement everywhere, and not just in the revolver forums. Don't want you to be accused of "profiling" anyone. Tom
  3. You flying or driving Stan? Need to plan accordingly if you are driving down
  4. How true it is Cliff I shoot the CR Speed. I also have the speed sec but do no like it as much as CR Speed. It is not that hard to convert to left handed. Just drill through the holes to the other side. Yes the lock is on the inside now, but to me it is safer that way. No chance of it ever getting bumped to unlocked. You don't have to "rebuild the whole piece". You are not going to find any holster that is ergonomic for a left handed revolver shooter. The market is to small. You make the best with what you can get. Carmoney was running a bladetech for a while for big matches. You don't loose any time with that type of holster. You can get a more agressive draw, because you don't have to worry about knocking the gun out of the holster. PM me if you need help with the CR. Tom
  5. Last year we were in Chicago hitting some blues clubs. I walk into the mens room, and walk up to the only available urinal. The guy to my right is doing his business, while he is texting on his cell phone He is practically standing on his tippy toes, to get his junk far enough into the urinal so as not to make a mess with his "freestyle" approach. I couldn't f#$*ing believe it. Tom
  6. I shot with Robbie at the Schultz match last month in Muskego WI. Pretty good shot for being from Oklahoma It was nice to meet some new faces from the forums. Have a good time in WI. I am shooting on Saturday, so maybe next time your in town we can meet up. Tom
  7. One more guy sign up so Mike can win a gun. Good stuff as always Cliff.
  8. First we need to know what kind of competition we are talking about. USPSA, ICORE, IDPA (ESR or SSR)etc.. In a nutshell, USPSA- 5" 625, some guys use a 610 as well. ICORE- the 627's are the most popular. 625 still work well here as well. IDPA- ESR, 4" 625 are the norm. SSR, Lots of choices, 686's are popular, lots of other choices as well. Tom
  9. You might want to check with the range holding the match to see if they allow dogs on the range. We do not allow dogs. Club members bring their dogs down to the range early, before shooting time starts to scrounge for brass etc.. They do not clean up after their dogs so we had to ban them outright. Tom
  10. They don't need a lock to get in Merlin. Not sure what kind of truck you have, but Fords are the easiest to get into. They just slip a screwdriver under the trim and unlock it that way. http://www.jimmijammer.com/JJ%20FAQs.htm Tom
  11. Sounds to me that these "RO's" are just guys at the range you shoot at correct. Most of these guys have never seen a women at the range before and just assume that 1. She is a women and doesn't know what she is doing with a firearm. 2. That nobody could possibly know more about firearms than they do, so it is there job to tell everybody how much they know. 95% of the people out there have no idea what IPSC/USPSA is and they have no desire to learn. They don't understand us "ammo wasters" and if you are not shooting their preferred discipline, why bother. Are their any other IPSC shooters at the club you shoot at? Is this just a public range, no organized IPSC program? Try to get some other shooters together to have a practice night. I bet if you get 3 or 4 ipsc shooters at the range at once, the "Old Farts" would be less likely to confront your wife. Pack mentality type of thing. Short of that, try to tell your wife not to let it bother her. She could probably out shoot all of the old timers easily. Maybe try to find a time at the range when it is less busy. At our club we don't have any Range Officers per say, so we can go shoot in a bay by our selves and not be bothered. Good luck to you and your wife. Tom
  12. I thought maybe you had to go get a labotomy
  13. Just remember you get what you pay for. My dad has a Cub Cadet zero turn and in my opinion it is a piece of shizzle. It is maybe one or two steps up from the cheapest they sell but it just can't take the pounding for the amount of grass we are cutting with it, 2 acres plus. Had it back for tranny issues and it is still not right. I have a Simplicity tractor with hydrostatic and a 50" deck and it serves me well. I got the tractor because I thought I was going to put a snowblower on it for doing my long drive. Then I scored a plow for my ATV and that was that. If all you are going to do is cut grass, get a zero-turn, but get a good one. Grasshopper, Lazer, Ferris, Dixon, all come to mind as more commercial, heavy duty type stuff.
  14. Here is an easy way to check on your classifiers. Go to USPSA home page. Click on Additional content on bottom left of home page. Click on Classifier and match uploading. Click on status of uploaded classifiers. Mark classifiers awating processing, and click on look-up. This will list all of the classifiers that have been sent into USPSA. It will also tell you if your club has paid the fee for the classifier or not. USPSA might have the results for the classifier, but until the bill is paid they will not post on the update. Tom
  15. A weeks worth of antibiotics should clear that right up. Tom
  16. What are you going to use the 2nd revo for? If all you shoot is IPSC, then I would try to find one with a 5" barrel. If you are going to try IDPA, then this would be a great gun for IDPA ESR division. Is it a screaming deal on a 625, hard saying. The 4" JM 625's are everywhere. I would think to shop around and see if you can find a better deal. Tom
  17. I personally am not a fan of classifiers at majors. I shoot enough classifiers at the local level. For a match that cost over $100, leave the classifier out and come up with a decent stage. Tom
  18. Looks like I have to get my hands on a 617 as well. Count me in Gary. Tom
  19. Paul, Were you shooting the Revo at the NISA match Sunday? I never saw you shoot. I was switching between revolver and production on the classifiers. Shot the field courses production only. Tom
  20. $500 is cheaper than $1200
  21. My first competition revolver was one of the PC guns with the 5" barrel and the shortened cylinder. I couldn't tell any difference between that guns accuracy and any of the others that I have. I never did any real testing with them either. For the kind of shooting we do, how much more accurate do you need. It is not like we are shooting 1,000 yd precision rifle here. Tom
  22. I own both and have used both. Guess which one has more dust on it. The Speedsec. I just flat out don't trust it when it is unlocked. When it is locked it is solid. But with the lock off, just a little bump and the gun is on the ground. It just is not worth the chance of getting a DQ. I like the speedsec because it truly is a one size fits all holster. My Cr does the same, it just takes a little adjusting to do it. The draw times between the two holsters is basically the same. Lets face it, with a 32 round field course, the difference between first and second on the stage is not going to be the draw time. Tom
  23. Matt, I just went to Comp-tac's website and they had all the options for a 4" left handed holster for a N frame revolver. It said $68 and a 8 day lead time. I have been happy with my comp-tac holster for my M&P. I had Ky-tac make me a left handed holster for my 4" V-Comp. But that was years ago, not sure I would try them now. Tom
