  1. Missed this year unfortunately but not missing 2015. It is a very fun match.
  2. Barney mag is a mag that you use to put a round in the chamber and then remove it and insert a full magazine so you are topped off. Usually it's supposed to only have 1 round in it like Barney Fife and his one bullet but I use a full mag. I keep a barney mag in my back pocket as a "just in case" mag as I can actually load 9 in my Tripp Corey mags so I just load the first with 9 so I have one in the chamber and 8 in the mag to be at SS major capacity.
  3. I finally got registered at 12 minutes after too and if Charles posted that there are still spots then I guess there might be hope.
  4. What type of feeding issues? Mine was nose diving when i got it and I sent it to Tripp for their reliability work and it runs great now. There were some that were having similar problems due to the feedramp angle being off and STI fixed them under warranty. I didn't want to wait the weeks to get STI to fix mine so spent the money and had Tripp do the work. Only thing I did to mine was change the recoil spring to 13 pound Wolf, and 17 pound mainspring. Shoots great. I bout it as a Dawson CRP so it came with Dawson Precision fiber optic front sight, Dawson large mag release button and Dawson ICE magwell.
  5. No promotion email yet for Eastern match. Hopefully the 12 minutes it took me to get through to register due to the hackers didn't bite me in the ass. Oh well.
  6. AR15.com doesn't seem to be working now either. Maybe the hackers left Rangelog and went there LOL
  7. This is great. Maybe they only had one day notice like us LOL
  8. I know that is exactly what Dan was saying but I was just adding to his statement.
  9. That's another way to go about it. My buddy, who works for Vortex, zeros using the 400 yard hashmark at 400 yards and then inside that is not off enough to miss on 3 gun style targets.
  10. For the Vortex BDC reticle look at the MOA that each line represents and then take your ballistic program data from your load you are shooting and assign the line to the proper data. Simple. No wasted ammo. Example, the crosshair is a 200 yard zero and the first line is supposed to be 300. For my load it's actually 285. Second line is supposed to be 400 and for my load it's 375. Next line is supposed to be 500 and for me it's 475. See what i am saying? For Jerry's load the lines are 300, 400, 500 but that doesn;t work for mine but knowing what they are allows me to still make accurate holds. You just need to figure it out first and you need to have ballistic program data anyways with any reticle. below is the reticle break down for the MOA markings. I have a pic of the reticle printed out with the yard line for each line written next t them and laminated in my 3 gun log book. I have one for 55grn and 75grn bullets.
  11. Dawson ICE magwells on both my Trojan .40 and 9mm. Excellent magwell and really helps the load.
  12. Finally got to get out and get my second Razor II zeroed on my .308. Went as easy as the first and once again the "clickless" zeroing system allowed for a perfect zero and and the lines inside the cap used to adjust were right on. After first shot at 25 yards I looked through the scope and needed to come down 3.5 mil and left 1.3 mils. I dialed the small dials under the caps (pictured below) with the tool provided (picture below) and it moved down 3.5 mils and left 1.3 mils and next impact was exactly where it was supposed to be. Didn't get to shoot a tracking test today but will next time out but not expecting anything different than above or what others have seen. Pics borrowed from my buddy Vu's review.
  13. Try it with a 10 pound recoil spring. Works great.
  14. SH joined Scout Media. That's it. No deep dark secrets. The new site is getting updates and will get better but don't try and make it sound like some conspiracy theory. Some people, including Frank, had to change their names as SH joined a group that has many million members so of course there is going to be some overlap. I was lucky in that there were no Rob01s there but if there was i would have just been SHRob01 to show i came from the old site. Nothing earth shaking.
  15. Paying for premium content was the same as the old Hide as it's for the Online Training section. It's a premium service that takes time and money to put together. If you figure the cost of all the training videos you get for the price it's a great value. That said you don;t have to pay for it if you don't want.
  16. You sure you're not just showing off? Nice looking glass. Nah just a reminder of what the S&B looks like as it was sold and I got another Razor II
  17. Pick up an STI Trojan in .40.
  18. Yeah hitting a steel plate at that distance with a slug is an easy thing to see. They fly pretty good. Don't ask me how I know
  19. Main reason I went with a .40 in my SS. I load for 9mm and .40 and didn't want to get into a whole other caliber. Happy with my Trojan .40 and 9mm, which I got slightly used with 4 mags for $725 off Gunbroker.
  20. Most of the time no. If you have 20+ rounds in a mag you are usually fine. Not saying in every instance but like I said earlier reliability is the key. It will take more time to clear a jam than insert a new mag and one or two more rounds for me isn't worth it.
