  1. Get rid of the shok buff, for one.
  2. Polish plate rack: 2,3,4,1. That seemed to work best for most folks. I disagree on the side matches. I really think the addition of a 7th stage was better. Here's my match, most of it anyway. Stage 3 didn't get taped (user error on the part of the guy with the camera ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9352fzUTbU
  3. I shot Friday afternoon and learned a lot about shooting small targets (as in I suck) - particularly stage 7 which looked like a treeline rising and falling. I also learned that regardless of what the weather is in the morning, bring extra clothing. The afternoon was cold and drizzled the whole time and I only had my cheap poncho which was overkill and a PITA to keep putting on and taking off. A few comments... The RO's and staff were all great and I really appreciated the work that went into running stage 5 (Polish plate rack) and having extra help to set that. I missed the fact that there would be a 7th stage as did almost everyone in the squad and the flyer only listed 6 stages. As a result, most people barely had enough ammo to finish and may not have had enough if they had to reshoot a stage. Even now, the web site still says 6 stages as did the score sheets. Everyone in my squad was surprised to find that the rules had been changed this year to limit the time to 90 seconds rather than shooting till you are out of ammo. I can understand why this was done but it was not in the rules and not mentioned in the briefing. It was only found out when one shooter reached the time limit and was stopped. I was really bothered by the fact that about half of my squad bugged out immediately after finishing shooting the last stage (stage 5), this left only about 5 of us who had not shot to reset a complicated stage and slowed everything down. Between that and some equipment problems, we didn't finish until well after everyone else was gone. This is no reflection on the shootout itself but does not speak well of the people who left early. I know that this cannot be done, but I would like to see the RO's hold the yellow copies till everyone is finished with the last stage and anyone who leaves early forfeits the last stage. As for next year, I do think I'll do this again and might even plan on spending a couple days there rather than commuting 2 hrs from Delaware. At the shooter's meeting this morning, it was mentioned that anyone leaving before the squad was finished would not have their scoresheet handed in, and that everyone was expected to help reset steel and pick up brass. The match was awesome.
  4. I use Winchester small rifle primers in my open gun, which has a 1.75# trigger pull. No issues. It has an extended firing pin.
  5. Sounds like the least competitive open gun possible . Get rid of the red dot and magwell and shoot production.
  6. Only if your a bad shot. Minor A's count the same as Major A's (5 points). Being a "bad shot" has nothing to do with it. Look at the results from any match and look at the top of the open division. See any M's or GM's shooting open minor? Nope. Think they're "bad shots"?
  7. I did a lot of testing to figure out EXACTLY how I wanted them adjusted, then used copious amounts of red loc tite. They'll never move. If you really don't want to loc tite them, try plumber's thread tape on the screws.
  8. I'm still trying to find a shooter or shooters to carpool with to this one.
  9. Is it safe to make a sandwish with this stuff at home and have it in a range bag all day in the heat of summer? There's probably enough preservatives that it's fine. . just wondering.
  10. If it's a USPSA match, it's a DQ, period. Without regard to which club it is or how new the shooter is.
  11. You guys think it's a hassle with your credit cards? Try having someone get ahold of your debit card info and spending $1,100 of your actual money from your bank account.
  12. Huh, interesting. I sent them two emails and left two voicemails regarding availability of 147gr 9mm bullets. It's been nearly a month, haven't heard a word from them.
  13. Taking the safety off in the holster = DQ at a USPSA match if the RO is paying attention.
  14. You're loading your ammo short for a Glock, right? Mine is loaded to 1.170". There's your difference.
  15. Update. Chocolate Brownie flavor Clif bars SUCK. All of the other flavors are good, though.
  16. I'm shooting 3.3gr of Solo 1000 under a 147gr Berry's bullet. Shoots SOFT and makes minor comfortably. Gun is a S&W M&P 9 Pro.
  17. 7.0gr plenty safe and @150 pf, with 7.7gr HS6 my 5" gun hits 174pf (1403 fps) with 124gr RN set to 1.165 (magnum primers), 7.9gr with SPP gave me 166pf (1338 fps). Have not shot it with small rife primers but I would expect results similar to SPM. I'm still amazed every time I see you list this HS-6 data. I need 8.4gr to make 172pf, and a bunch of people I know load 8.3gr. I think you are the only person I've ever seen make major with 7.7gr. Pro2, you're using 115 grain bullets? Might make it with 124 grain bullets?? Jack 124gr Montana Gold. I need 9.0 to make 170pf with a 115.
  18. Never saw that before. The only time my safety is engaged is when I holster the pistol at make ready. I've never engaged it to make movement between positions. My finger is indexed along the frame when not engaging targets. The gun isn't going to go bang without the trigger being pressed. Engaging the safety to make movement would only lead to the possibility/probability of me trying to engage the next array of targets without remembering to disengage it.

  20. Why would you want to run an OAL that short in a 2011? Take the barrel out of the gun and load a dummy round and see how long you can go and still have it fall in and out of the chamber properly. Longer OAL in these guns usually means better feeding. It also means more case capacity, which is a good thing with 9mm major.
  21. I load both to 1.170". I get a little bit higher PF with the CMJs, I suppose because they're longer which gives less case volume. More importantly, my point of impact is about 3" different with the two bullets. Check your zero before shooting a match!
  22. Right around 750 right now. After this semester is over and I have free time, that number will likely double.
  23. Which powder are you guys pushing these with? I'm thinking Benchmark.
