  1. I remeber reading an article in front sight about the texas windmills (not texas star) a few isues back. Was tinking about buying one for our club and can't find that issue. Any one have a link or phone number for the manufacturer. Last but not least, does anyone have any expereince with this prop?
  2. From what I have noticed from the few that have wound up in my brass bag is that the AP rimless has a slightly larger rim than the Starline supercomp. As far as the durabilty of the AP, I have heard from the other guys I shoot with, if you shoot 115 gr bullets dont expect more than 1 or 2 uses out of it. With 124s you can get about 5 or so before they start to split
  3. Shooters Connectionhas Safariland belts up to 58'' you pay a little extra for the length but at least they are avalible. Erik-
  4. I caught myself focusing on the targets instead of my sights several times. I think its very easy to do when everything is so close and you are going for max hose speed. My points told the story. I was down 10-20 every stage. Anyone know if results are on the web yet?
  5. I think every one had a good time despite weather and stage malfunctions. I shot very consistant and only had one mike on a stacked aray on stage 10. I just hosed it too fast and didn't call it. I got lucky re-shoot on stage 5 where I engaged 9 tragets from around the side of a barricade when all the shots where suposed to be though ports. 18 procedurals would have hurt! But because the RO didnt give us a walk through and there was no visible posted course decription, I was given a reshoot. After all the match was figgured out I ended up with 3rd B limited. Eventhough the plate rack stage wasnt Uspsa leagal this wasn't a sanctioned match so the stages didnt have to comply to the rules. Same reason you can shoot steel rabbits at a club match. The timer situation was a whole different story and the stage should have been thrown out becasue of the incosistancys.
  6. THe only reason i shot the left side first is because its easier for my to reload from left to right. standing far enough back in the box i could easily see the outside two targets so i squared up of T1 and went from there.
  7. I shot this one yesterday. 40pts 6.95sec = 5.755HF Sure droped aot of points, I havent held my limited gun in months, but was shooing in open class. Im sure it won't equate too much. Im a right handed shooter and I drew to T1 and shot T2 and T3. Nailed the reload and landed on T6 and shot T5 then T4. Any better way to do it?
  8. The best solution is next time you have a timed fire stage have your score keeper not mark down misses
  9. THe origional tread must have been lost in the switch so I'll start a new one... Best of the best match is here again... May 3&4 in Reno, NV 10 stages 300+ rounds Trophys, raffled prizes, and cash payout. The deadline for fee increase is soon....4/15 SO who's going....anyone squadding together?
  10. California isnt a "10 round state" Like Hawaii. We can own and use Hicap mags we allready have, we just cant by "new" pre-ban mags. Getting new guns is a diffrent story, the must be on the state's aproved list. So what "pinch" is Area 2 in. California lacks major matches is simply because nobody wants to go throught the effort of putting them on and most wont come form out of state because the are affraid of having their mags taken away.
  11. I use a CED...Its great.... It has a very lage display. It has just about every calculation you could want. You can upload your data to your computer.... Very easy to set up nad the mont and sky screens are very sturdy. It's used at most major matches. And the best part is it has infra-red adapters for chronoing indoors.
  12. I was at the Springfield Armory Promotional Demostration today at Reed's Indoor Range in Santa Clara, CA where Rob Letham Gave a bit if lecture about the various shooting sports and about the firearms offered from Springfield up flollowed by a live fire demostration with the most popular pistols in the springfield line up. Ive seen im shoot several places, nationals, area matches but nothing compairs to this all out speed demostration that he put on. 0.70 draw and double tap with a sub compact XD for a concealment holster and a 1.6 bill drill with the same gun! He also ran similar numbers with a micro compact single stack .45 with fatcory 230 ball! Numbers were even better form the midsize XD in 9mm, full size XD in .40 and 5'' 1911. Most impressive was the 1.37 bill drill with his 9mm steel gun from a 012 holster and 3.6 el prez with the 5'' .45 1911 from a carry holster. All with factory PMC ammo. He truely is great and deserves to be called "The Great One". He will be at the range tomorrow giving a nother demo from 9-12 so if your in the are go check it out.
  13. Bullets and brass: from mailorder either from manufacturer or distributor Primers: from local store or gun show Powder: from the back of some guy's car trunk seems shadey but good prices all otehr suplies: localy
  14. Glancing throught the minuits of the last BOD meeting in the current issure of Front Sight, I came across some motions of a proposed boundy change betweeen A1 and A2 and a possible addition of an Area 9?!?. Anybody have any idea of what the proposals were and why? I think the current boundys are ok.... but A1 is rather large. If it aint broke dont fix it... right? However, if there had to be a change and I had my way New Mexico would move to A4, Colorado would go to A3 or A4 and A2 would get Nevada and Utah. Seems logical to me, even up the actual size of the areas...
  15. Another thing...allways check ther headstamp of 38 super cases. Ive been marking the rebate with a felt pen. Other shooters picked up a bunch of brass with my mark on it. but aparently some one else shooting on the range uses the same color on the same place. After I loaded a few hundred I notrice that I had a few super comp cases in the mix
  16. Realoading the other night I had to change my tool head over. In my last session I was loading .40. Took the powder measure off then the tool head. Then opened my cabinent and grabed what I thought were my 38 super dies...I guess I only saw "38" and assumed that it was the right one. put a piece of 38 super brass in the resizeing station and pulled the handle. It resizes.... I notice that that case was buldged at bottom and figgure that it was just a bad case. More over to the powder drop pull the handle to get a inital charge.....CRUNCH my 38 super case looks like a 1 quart funnel! I then pull everything apart and found that i Had put the 38/357 tool head on the machine with the 38 super powder funnel. So now I labled all my tool heads and powder funnels. But the interesting thing is that the 38/357 die sizes smaller than the 38 super die. But a 38/357 case has a bullet diameter of .357 and a 38 super .355 case wall thickness? Guess I could get out the calipers.....
  17. FWIW, Bolth guns are virtually the same. The frames are made under the same patent. And as far as all the other parts they are all virtually identical as well. The SV guns tends have more enfesis on looks as far as shape of the slide and serrations. STI is to SV as Ford is to Lincon. Ford Expedition and Linncon Navitgator are identical underneith thier skin. All in all, it boils down to how well its fitteted and put together. If your going to build one from a frame research many different gunsmiths.
  18. If your gun doenst like hollow points but you like the enclosed base, MG offers a 180 CMJ, withs is a flat point bullet with an enclosed base.more expensive than the MFJs but less expensive than the HPs I use the 180 MG CMJs in my limited gun. MG also offers CMJs in other calibers
  19. Its been said before, that the SV and and STI mag release catch openings are at little bit diffrent heights and that SV mags may not work in STIs or vise versa. Lots of people get them to work either way but make sure that the mag is engaging the mag release catch and there is enough tension on the mag release spring. Here it is.... http://www.stiguns.com/faq.html probably just a sales tactic to get you to buy STI mags
  20. Everyone has diffrent methods for cleaning their guns. we all agree that they should be cleaned ever so often. but that is besides the point..... The term "tupperwear" should be reserved for certain austiran line of guns (Edited by TheOtherErik at 1:33 pm on Mar. 10, 2003)
  21. TDean I take it you have a bad experence at the Croc? I thought it was the funest matches I have been to.
  22. The case wall of PMC is a bit thicker than most. I ran across a bunch of once fired form a glock I wasnt able to be resized. The size die just pushed the bulge down further to the base. If you use a fully suported barrel and its new stuff you should be fine. The primer pockets are also really tight.
  23. I plan on shooting the same matches as Kathy as well...probably won't go to Area1 but might go to Crazy Croc match.
  24. you might be experiencing what is know as torque steer. Very common on FWD cars. The front drive axles are two different lengths, ther car is going to pull to the side of the shorter axle under heavly acceleration. As for your noise, try to find a pattern with it and be able to duplicate it on a regular basis. Then bring it to the dealer and ask to road test with the Technician and demostrate the noise for him. We cant fix it if we dont know what the problem is.
