  1. When I started USPSA shooting in 1994, I was a "Senior". Didn't mean a thing to me then and still doesn't. In 2004 I totally screwed up the Mid-Atlantic Section match and much to my surprise, received a plaque in the mail for High Super Senior Open. This is nailed to the wall over my reloading bench but not nearly as important as my 2006 Kentucky Class B Multi-Gun plaque against all shooters. I know my best days as a shooter are behind me but it makes no difference as to how I approach or enjoy a match and I could care less about being a Senior or Super Senior. I will continue to try to beat the young whipper-snappers like Jim N and try keep up with the old sages like Dave S and Allan Z.
  2. I noticed that the last lot of WSP I bought had a brighter red dye on the underside. When filling primer tubes with my Dillon automatic primer tube filler, I was getting hangups. I shimmed up the clear piece with a piece of paper and now it seems to run alright. Anyone else notice this WSP change.
  3. The Ontelaunee IDPA club puts on an annual NE Regional Shotgun match. They kind of follow IDPA but mostly make up the rules as they go along. No one cares as it is a fun match and now, with no paybacks.
  4. Some stages may require them but I'm not sure about USPSA sanctioned events. If they're not required, I'm not sure why you would want one. I only use one if it is a stage requirement.
  5. What I do for 223 is set a caliper at 1.76", the max recommended length, and use the caliper as a go,no go gage. If a resized case, resize before measuring, doesn't cleanly past through the caliper, it gets trimmed to 1.75. New brass usually gets about 3 firings before it need to be trimmed. "Once" fired Blackhills Blue Box (reloaded) Lake City brass usually needs trimming.
  6. I've been shooting 3-gun for 9 years starting with a Bushmaster 16" V-Match. Later I used a JP upper on a Bushmaster lower to shoot Open class and was very satisfied with the JP quality and accuracy. Two years ago, after USPSA came up with Tactical, class I bought a JP-15 upper with the V-Tac fore-end, 18" med barrel w 1:9 twist, Aluminum LMOS, and BC Tactical comp. Today, I would not change a thing on my rifle. I'm using a BM lower with JP trigger. I have shot a 3/4" group at 200 yards using this rifle and Sierra 69 gr Matchkings.
  7. Send it to JP and let them do the swap and avoid a lot of aggravation.
  8. I just checked the USPSA Squadding site and see the Saturday is full but there are still 23 slots open for Sunday.
  9. There is no problem with using an 8 round tube on an 18" barrel. I've had good experience with the DMW tube.
  10. I don't have an issue with the stock recoil pad but its not very diffucult to grind an after market pad to size if you have some good sanding equipment and a little patience. Regarding the 3-gun Gear side saddle, I have one and use it for extra ammo, my primary reloads coming from belt mounted strippers as popularized by Kurt M. Cleaning the receiver with Alcohol or Acetone will work fine. Cut a little hole in the velcro so you can remove the trigger group.
  11. I haven't shot Open in several years but Open allows a 10 round magazine tube. This about matches a 26" barrel. Thats the barrel length I used but I can't see a 28" barrel as being a problem. In the old days Open shooters found ways to get 16 round tubes through the course.
  12. I run a standard Benelli configuration and have had issues similar to yours with low recoil slugs. Since I reload shotshells for clay games, I reload slugs with Lyman 525 gr @1250 for tactical or 3-gun games.
  13. Noah nailed the rule. The key is how fast you can get the next eight in.
  14. I use Butler Creek flip-up covers plus a Scope-Coat.
  15. I've been shooting a JP trigger for years and had some doubling in a BM lower with a trigger JP installed. I called them and they checked my records and noticed that I had a low mass bolt carrier (aluminum) and advised a titanium firing pin. Bought one from BM and the problem disappeared.
  16. Shot this match last year and highly recommend it. Long dirve from the Phila PA area but probably will do it again. Previous post about motel, stages, and range food were right on the money.
  17. I received an email from the match director this a.m. listing paid and unpaid shooters for the October 13 & 14 reschedule dates. These lists were a result of the cadet's calls. There looks like there is still a little confusion so check your email.
  18. I agree with Dan, 90% of the time IC is in my 21" M1. When there are lots of close stationary clay birds, I use Skeet choke. Very occassionally for longish 25-30 yards poppers or stationary clay birds I use Mod.
  19. FYI, confirmations are being sent, slowly, per Linda. Bill L
  20. Comfirming a previous post, my DWM easily holds 8 rounds with the standard length spring. Before posting this, I measured the tube and it is 11-3/4" oal.
  21. You can take some rebar and weld a piece of angle straight across a few inches below the top to form a "t" or you could buy some nice stands from GT Targets. I recommend the GT Target after having used them in several matches. Karl still hasn't given me a free hat.
  22. Sudden Death, yes the K-dot requires batteries and they are rather hard to find. I got my spares from Meopta.
  23. I'm sure that this load exceeds all published safe loads and should be used with caution, but when I shot pins I used 5.0 Clays under a 230 gr lead FP. If I remember correctly this yielded about a 210 power factor. Knocked pins off very well and I don't remember any extreme pressure signs on the fired brass.
