  1. As long as your holes are centered, 5/16(diameteter) lag bolts going into 4" of wood with hold great. I do it all the time with lots of my presses. However, by looking at your pic, you may be off center quite a bit and may have to drill through and see if you get by with out having to channel and chisel. Best of Luck
  2. You sound like you ought to buy a 650 and a 1050 though. (not for need, but perhaps for want? nothing wrong with that) A much wiser buy than 2 650s and a SDB. You'll never look back. Trust me.
  3. Whenever I run into primer issues with my 550, 99.9% of the time it is due to dirt and crud. After just taking 10 minutes to tear down the priming system and do a good cleaning. Things run smooth as silk.
  4. Yeah, that looks nice. It looks like it fits without being interferred by other dies. The only problem, no 1" size available for Dillon 1" rings.
  5. Sounds like a money making opportunity out there for someone.
  6. Dillons are like gun safes; you should buy the biggest and best you can afford - till it hurts. That way , you won't look back after you outgrew it and say "I wish......."
  7. I"m with jmorris, what's the point? You still have to take time to fill the tubes. So what if you do it watching TV, at some point you have to stop and change tubes, THAT is wasted time. There is NO saved time in my book. Just a wasted gadget without a collator.
  8. Exactly, doesn't matter if I'm loading on my 550, 1050, Hollywoods, Texans, Herters, Lyman, RCBS, or my Pacific. I can still feel the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
  9. I have used the Lyman Green off and on and have Never experienced that green stuff. My brass always came out great. Maybe try leaving it in for a few hours longer. Also, be sure your tumbler is full of brass, not just half way.
  10. I agree with the other posters about 38 spl in Nickel. There is a difference there. They seem to spit quicker than the Autos.
  11. Besides being messy, I don;t have the space for converting over to SS tumbling. I do use a full hard core Darth Varder allergy breathing mask when emptying my tumbler and separating.outside.
  12. It's been a while and no one has replied. Could there be confusion? Are you asking about manual powder measures or the newer Automatic Electonic ones? I'm curious myself.
  13. Well I hope folks remember well or write things down. There are a lot of so called legitimate business' out there scalping prices right now. I have vowed NEVER to do business with them again. I WILL remember that Powder Valley is one of the GOOD GUYS!
  14. FWIW - you do NOT have to roll crimp and buy new hulls to load slugs. A flold crimp works just fine. You just have to learn how to trim you wads. Don't make it any harder than you have to..
  15. I had a Dillon CV-500 for over 25 years that I would turn on and forget about it for days while it was in a shed in the Texas Summer heat! No telling how many times I abused it.. It finially gave up the ghost. I sent it to Dillon for an upgrade to put a CV 750 motor on it. I forgot how much it cost, but it was not cheap. I went ahead and bought a CV-750 as well. I'm abusing the hell out of both of them!
  16. So many guys who don't listen to good advice of competitive shooters suggesting Dillion loaders have cried on my shoulder after buying a different color. And they ALL said " I should have paid a litle bit more and got the Dillon".
  17. I have over 250k rounds of 38 on one 1050 with zero priming issues. Just set up a 1050 for my Brother in 45acp with not issues yet. My 9mm 1050 machine has not been put into service yet. Now I am worried!
  18. Oh I have 2 RL 1050's. 1 550 and a dozen or so old school presses- all active - but the 1050's are the favorites.
  19. That's an oxymoron - 1050 and "quick" conversion in the same sentence!
  20. What I am about to say goes against everything we have always been told about sights. However, Massad Ayoob, wrote an article about this confirming my own personal experience. We have always been told longer barrels, i.e., longer sight radi-i is better, right? Well what happened to me around 45 years of age is that all of a sudden I could shoot my Officers framed 45's and 2" Pythons better than my Gubmit models and 6" pythons. I could not explain it. Then one day while reading American Handgunner, Ayoob was explaining how as we age our eyes adapt "better" to a shorter sight radius over the traditional longer one. I would have chalked it up to total BS if I had not been experiencing it for the previous 6 months myself. It all made sense the way he explained it. Forgive me for not knowing the proper explanation. That MAy be part of the OP problem. Which of course is why I asked his age. Don't fight it, just go with it.
  21. PAcanis, once you get ahold of some normal ol 45 acp brass, you will be chugging along with your Dillon like a sewing machine. Sorry to hear about your first time bad luck start. Best to ya!
