I don't have my book handy, but I'm pretty sure you can't calibrate plates, only poppers. Plates either fall when hit or REF.

I have one and I love it. Adjustable gas, piston driven so it stays clean, left side charge, newer models have ambi-safety and mag release (I think on the mag release). They've had the XCR in production now for a few years, so most of the issues are worked out. Some people have had issues, but most really like theirs. Check out XCR Forum for a ton of info

I did something similar with mine. I milled a groove in the sight instead of drilling. Then just epoxied a fiber in and lightly tapped the new 'wings' on the top to lock it down. Finally shaved the fiber to follow the contour of the rib and to allow a good surface to catch the light.

As far as allowing a competitor to add/change a production gun to make it more relevant in open, I would argue that those changes attempt to skirt the part of 5.1.7 that says you have to use the same gun and sights unless it has broken or become unsafe. 5.1.7.1 only allows for the replacement under the broken aspect of the parent rule. It also seems that 5.2.5.3 is relevant under 5.2.5, that is, as long as you are not in violation of some distance rule and are not instructed by an RO or WBS, you cannot move your equipment. I would agree that you could use whatever magazines are relevant to your current division (if you bump to open; load them up, find a big stick or whatever). My 2 pennies.

I saw that episode too. They sure didn't use any standard setup for measuring that 144 dB level. Most companies will measure at a distance of 1 meter from the muzzle (results look better), their 'range' didn't look much wider than a meter. And I bet they get plenty of echo down that hallway. That said, as we know, muzzle blast is extremely directional. With 144 near the muzzle, perceived levels at the shooter's ear may be much lower than that.

This happened about 10 years ago to a friend of mine. Fortunately he was driving a jeep and had taken the doors off. All the cars were piled in a corner of the lot (like the video) and the jeep hadn't moved from its spot, the water just flowed thru!

Isn't the point of having a fire-rated gun safe to have your guns survive a fire? I'd be pretty pissed off if my firearms were worthless after a fire, I might as well lock them up in a closet and let them burn...

I've used that one on about 2k of .40 push thru sizing (with lube!) without any issues.

I've been wearing my Traser watch for about a year now, no growths yet From what I recall reading, the gas (H3) decays into helium and a beta particle. The phosphor inside the tube absorbs the particle, raising its energy state. As the phosphor decays back to its stable state, it release a photon. The whole process converts the radioactivity to light with no other harmful by-product.

I've been using it at work for about 6 months now. I love it, most of our legacy 32-bit stuff runs on x64. The Win 7 allows you to "install" a virtual XP machine, which I have done to run the two programs we have that won't work under Win7. No problems working that way.

I had to practice without the dot today...halfway thru my last stage! Rheostat crapped out. I sure can't hit steel plates at 20yds and I pull right on all the paper. At least I finished the stage, only left 2 steel and a couple mikes. At least it was my last stage, I think maybe I'll practice that a little more.

At one of the matches I shoot the owners keep the leftover brass. You are only supposed to pick up your brass and before you leave the stage. Once the match is over, brass belongs to the range...

I've wondered about this, why is it that the system doesn't really account for moving shooters down? What if a GM works hard, makes the grade, then after a couple years relaxes, only shoots a few matches a month, goes fishing more..blah blah. Why shouldn't he (or she) get moved down if their performance doesn't make the grade anymore? The current system does seem to bias the curve upward (although I'm not sure I'd expect a normal distribution).
