I like the bullet loading manuals. Also, you can buy loading books that are caliber soecific. I also recommend buying.... and reading, a handloading book. It helped me a lot. Horandy puts out a good dvd on reloading too. Good luck, Jason

best SS pistol right out of the box?
Fast Shooter Wannabe replied to XDman's topic in 1911-style Pistols
I have a Springfield TRP that I picked up unfired but sitting in a safe for $950. It is dead nuts accurate. just my two cents. Jason -
After 10 years of not owning a 1911, I returned and purchased a Springfield TRP, which I truly love shooting. Now, I want to get back to carrying one and am looking to see if anyone here carries one too. I can't swing an Ed Brown or Wilson, so I am looking for either a Springfield Armory LW Champion Operator or a Kimber Super Carry Pro. I like that both are light weight, 45's, and have 4 inch barrels. Anyone have any recommendations or advice? Thanks, Jason

Robot, I actually have 2 safes-1 bed side safe for my defense pistol and a full size Fort Knox. I bought the Fort Knox because my brother's house in San Antonio burnt down just prior to purchasing a safe. They had the highest fire rating at the time (1998). I have a bed side safe that is disguised as an alarm clock. It works too. Keeps the kids away from it. I figure that I have time to get it once because by the time any intruder got by our German Shepard or Pointer, and then got upstairs... they won't be happy with me :-). Jason

Israel was AMAZING! I think that every American should travel there. Seeing rifles everywhere made me feel very unarmed. I saw Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, Masada, and Quamram. Swimming in Dead Sea is an odd experience. The highlight for me was my wife's cousin who lives in Jerusalem is also a pilot. He owns the airfield near Masada and a few airplanes. We flew over Masada and the Dead Sea. It was amazing. Thanks for all of the advice. Pictures will be up soon. Jason

Tron coming in 2010 - in 3D
Fast Shooter Wannabe replied to GlockSpeed31's topic in Books, Movies, TV & Music
I can't wait!!! Tron was one of my favorite movies when I was younger. -
This is Bo, the cranky old man! He's a Basset Hound. This is Emee & Bosko. Emee is a White German Shepard and Bosko is a German Shorthair pointer. What can I say, I'm a sucker for dogs. They are great with our kids and Emee would protect our family, no doubt there. Jason

Traveling with a tactical scope...
Fast Shooter Wannabe replied to sandman_sy's topic in Travel, Locations, Ranges, etc.
Airlines generally don't know anything about firearms, parts, or scopes. I would recommend checking all parts. TSA is never standard. You could get through one check point in LA, but fail to get through in Denver. It's very subjective, so checking is the only way to get around that. As for traveling through Hong Kong, that's a calculated risk. I know that in the US, if you have a firearm and divert to a state that has restriction, you are subject to that states restrictions. The same would apply to magazines or other restricted parts. Whatever Hong Kong's restrictions are will apply, especially if there is a maintenance problem that causes you to reboard at a later time requiring you to recheck in. I have traveled around the US with firearms, parts, ammo, etc. problem free. I am sure there are others here could chime in on international procedures. Good luck. Jason -
Primer Availability
Fast Shooter Wannabe replied to Hi-Power Jack's topic in Miscellaneous BEginners
I know that a lot of people are upset about the prices of primers, PMAG's, etc. and GunBroker is an easy target. I would rather deal with free enterprise and allowing the free market to set the price anyday of the week. Would you rather have the government set the price? Do you really believe that this administration is going to have a "primer supply bail out?" All of the animosity towards sellers isn't going to help the situation either. If they can get 200% for their primers, let them. If you don't want to pay it, don't. It just amazes me how much energy we waste getting angry over the prices. Jason -
Flying First Class
Fast Shooter Wannabe replied to cripple's topic in Travel, Locations, Ranges, etc.
First Class is great to sit in, no matter what the service. It usually is better, although in recent years, it has declined. Carry candy for the gate agents (rememberm they make very little money, deal with mostly unhappy people, and are the gate keepers). Also, be respectful of the flight attendants. The employees are just people and most will respond VERY nicely to someone being polite to them. I fly for a major airline out of Denver and our First Class seats are cheaper at check in, but that always depends upon availability. Food is usually served, drinks are free, the passengers around you are less likely to talk your ear off the entire flight, and the best part is the extra room. Given your size description, if the extra cost fits into your budget, go for it. Jason -
Where do you buy movies on Blu Ray / DVD online?
Fast Shooter Wannabe replied to benos's topic in Books, Movies, TV & Music
I always buy movies as they go on sale each Tuesday at Best Buy. They usually deep discount new releases on Tues and Wed. Also, there are always a variety of movies that are cheaper. Remember, your Blue Ray player should upconvert old DVD's too. Jason -
HP and the Half Blood Prince
Fast Shooter Wannabe replied to Micah's topic in Books, Movies, TV & Music
I saw it this afternoon with my 10 year old daughter. I thought it was well done. I expected it to be long since the book is over 500 pages. I and my kids have read all of the books and I understand why they are going to split the last movie. There is just too much that will have to be taken out of the story to make it into one movie. Just my thoughts. Jason -
I lived in AZ for 22 years. Great place to live, but the heat takes a little getting used to. Tons of places to shoot and lots of firearms related businesses. I moved to CO 2 years ago and love it here. Lots of outdoor life, sports is a religion here, and there are some great places to shoot (although it takes a little looking for). I would recommend either AZ or CO. Good luck in your choices or endeavors. Let me know if you want any information on homes in the Denver/Surrounding area as I am a real estate broker here. It's a good life, Jason

Which vibratory case cleaner should I buy?
Fast Shooter Wannabe replied to bball97's topic in Miscellaneous BEginners
I have the Dillon small tumbler, which I can easily recommend. But, I found that Flitz polish is better for cleaning the brass rather than the Dillon polish. Just another man's opinion. Jason -
Congrats, it's a moment none of us forget-mine was in 1993. Did your instructor cut your shirt? I hope this tradition hasn't died! Keep flying safe. Jason

My wife and I saw this movie last weekend. We laughed at all of the parts the younger audiance didn't get. What a great flick. My wife enjoyed it too. Gotta hand it to the cast and crew. Taking this series to this level. It was also great to see the backgrounds of the original characters. Jason

Wingman, I am an American Citizen and have done some research on the dangers of Israel. I do appreciate the warning and understand it's importance. I also have been to some unsafe countries (El Salvador, Mexico City(It could be a country with it's large population), & Greece-before the Olympics). It's a concern, but I am not going to let it deter me. Everyone I have talked to about their trip has said to go no matter what. A big second to Merlin and Shred, because it seems to be a common sentiment. I'll look into the Dead Sea. Jerusalem is a must. Petra, well, let's just say I am a big Indiana Jones fan. Thanks for all of your suggestions. I am very grateful. Jason

From what I understand, the border crossing between Jordan and Israel is pretty routine, and only costs $15/person. I am looking to hire a private guide for my family, but it depends upon the cost. I really appreciate the suggestions. If someone could get me Saul Kirsh's information, it would be helpful. Thanks, Jason

I am planning a trip to Israel this summer and wanted to see if anyone here has any recommendations? We are spending a week there and have never been. We want to see Jerusalem and I want to see Petra. Any other suggestions? Any place to shoot there (I meant leagally as a tourist!!!). Let me know your suggestions. We are staying in Tel Aviv. Thanks, Jason

Blake's Travel Tip #1
Fast Shooter Wannabe replied to BlakeM's topic in Travel, Locations, Ranges, etc.
I too went through security with 2 stripper clips of 38 Special that I had stuck into my computer bag the last time that I went shooting. This was in 2004, and was given the option of checking it or "donating it." My wife wasn't too happy about the delay (not that I had ammo at the airport ). I grabbed the local officer, asked if he had a 38 Special-which he said he did- and gave him the 10 rounds of Hydra Shoks and the 2 Bianchi stripper clips. I think I made his day, because he even looked up what gate our flight was leaving from so we could get there quickly and was genuinely thankful. Our dekay was only a couple of minutes, but we were running behind. I understand that today, things are more time consuming. Jason -
Seller & Bellot [ Small Rifle primers]
Fast Shooter Wannabe replied to k&j223's topic in Miscellaneous BEginners
Thanks for the intel on where to get some small rifle primers. We haven't seen any of those here in Denver since the last sighting of the yetti! I am placing my order tomorrow, as well as some of my friends... Thanks, Jason -
I will preface this post wtih the fact that I have not shot at an Appleseed yet, but I am planning on taking my daughter (10 years old) to one. Here is the link to their web site. They also have a forum, but the web site gives most of the information about the event. I think that these are great in getting new shooters and a safe place to take one's kids to shoot. I would love to see a IPSC/USPSA event like this geared towards newbie's! Any volunteers? http://www.appleseedinfo.org/index.htm Jason
