Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I like the bullet loading manuals. Also, you can buy loading books that are caliber soecific. I also recommend buying.... and reading, a handloading book. It helped me a lot. Horandy puts out a good dvd on reloading too. Good luck, Jason
  2. Thanks for the opinions. I am leaning towards the SA, but am still trying to figure out the model I want. Jason
  3. How do you like STI? I looked at a Ranger I, which I like the feel of. I just don't know much about STI. Jason
  4. I have a Springfield TRP that I picked up unfired but sitting in a safe for $950. It is dead nuts accurate. just my two cents. Jason
  5. After 10 years of not owning a 1911, I returned and purchased a Springfield TRP, which I truly love shooting. Now, I want to get back to carrying one and am looking to see if anyone here carries one too. I can't swing an Ed Brown or Wilson, so I am looking for either a Springfield Armory LW Champion Operator or a Kimber Super Carry Pro. I like that both are light weight, 45's, and have 4 inch barrels. Anyone have any recommendations or advice? Thanks, Jason
  6. Robot, I actually have 2 safes-1 bed side safe for my defense pistol and a full size Fort Knox. I bought the Fort Knox because my brother's house in San Antonio burnt down just prior to purchasing a safe. They had the highest fire rating at the time (1998). I have a bed side safe that is disguised as an alarm clock. It works too. Keeps the kids away from it. I figure that I have time to get it once because by the time any intruder got by our German Shepard or Pointer, and then got upstairs... they won't be happy with me :-). Jason
  7. I attended a business conference last week. Here is my newest affirmation- There is no chance, no fate, no destiny that can circumvent, or hinder, or control the firm resolve of a determined soul -- Ella Wheeler Wilcox Jason
  8. Israel was AMAZING! I think that every American should travel there. Seeing rifles everywhere made me feel very unarmed. I saw Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, Masada, and Quamram. Swimming in Dead Sea is an odd experience. The highlight for me was my wife's cousin who lives in Jerusalem is also a pilot. He owns the airfield near Masada and a few airplanes. We flew over Masada and the Dead Sea. It was amazing. Thanks for all of the advice. Pictures will be up soon. Jason
  9. I can't wait!!! Tron was one of my favorite movies when I was younger.
  10. This is Bo, the cranky old man! He's a Basset Hound. This is Emee & Bosko. Emee is a White German Shepard and Bosko is a German Shorthair pointer. What can I say, I'm a sucker for dogs. They are great with our kids and Emee would protect our family, no doubt there. Jason
  11. Airlines generally don't know anything about firearms, parts, or scopes. I would recommend checking all parts. TSA is never standard. You could get through one check point in LA, but fail to get through in Denver. It's very subjective, so checking is the only way to get around that. As for traveling through Hong Kong, that's a calculated risk. I know that in the US, if you have a firearm and divert to a state that has restriction, you are subject to that states restrictions. The same would apply to magazines or other restricted parts. Whatever Hong Kong's restrictions are will apply, especially if there is a maintenance problem that causes you to reboard at a later time requiring you to recheck in. I have traveled around the US with firearms, parts, ammo, etc. problem free. I am sure there are others here could chime in on international procedures. Good luck. Jason
  12. I know that a lot of people are upset about the prices of primers, PMAG's, etc. and GunBroker is an easy target. I would rather deal with free enterprise and allowing the free market to set the price anyday of the week. Would you rather have the government set the price? Do you really believe that this administration is going to have a "primer supply bail out?" All of the animosity towards sellers isn't going to help the situation either. If they can get 200% for their primers, let them. If you don't want to pay it, don't. It just amazes me how much energy we waste getting angry over the prices. Jason
  13. First Class is great to sit in, no matter what the service. It usually is better, although in recent years, it has declined. Carry candy for the gate agents (rememberm they make very little money, deal with mostly unhappy people, and are the gate keepers). Also, be respectful of the flight attendants. The employees are just people and most will respond VERY nicely to someone being polite to them. I fly for a major airline out of Denver and our First Class seats are cheaper at check in, but that always depends upon availability. Food is usually served, drinks are free, the passengers around you are less likely to talk your ear off the entire flight, and the best part is the extra room. Given your size description, if the extra cost fits into your budget, go for it. Jason
  14. I always buy movies as they go on sale each Tuesday at Best Buy. They usually deep discount new releases on Tues and Wed. Also, there are always a variety of movies that are cheaper. Remember, your Blue Ray player should upconvert old DVD's too. Jason
  15. I saw it this afternoon with my 10 year old daughter. I thought it was well done. I expected it to be long since the book is over 500 pages. I and my kids have read all of the books and I understand why they are going to split the last movie. There is just too much that will have to be taken out of the story to make it into one movie. Just my thoughts. Jason
