  1. I almost look forward to the interview with the "loser" (for lack of a better term) more than the actual show.
  2. Craig you shot a great match last weekend. In the short time I've known you you're getting much better quickly. Keep it up
  3. Went with the VideoPad Editor. Just what I was looking for Thanks
  4. I just installed the Hogue release and I'm kind of disappointed in the amount of wiggle between it and the frame. The screw is tight, yet it still has quite a bit of play. Is this normal?
  5. Looking for a fairly inexpensive software to edit my shooting videos with. Windows Movie Maker doesn't work with .MP4 files, and I'm sick of uploading each stage as a separate video. It doesn't need all the fancy bells and whistles, just the basic cut and paste to make a single video with multiple files and trim out some of the non-shooting footage. Any suggestions?
  6. Just signed up and you're not kidding, it seemed a bit confusing. Looking forward to the match
  7. I'll be there but need to sign up yet. Likely sat pm/sun am or all day sat for me.
  8. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Jerry was a GM at skipping rocks. LOL, I actually had a hard time thinking of something that might be hard for JM
  9. Lets face it, we make up a very small percentage of the viewing community. We have our favorites, and we know who can shoot in our crowd. But from what I can see, the producers want to have an interesting show....and from what I can tell so far they have. No doubt in my mind someone like Jerry Miculek would dominate this thing, but make him shoot a slingshot or skip stones across a pond at targets, there is going to be someone better/luckier. Thats what makes this show good in my opinion. It takes phenomenal shooters and puts them on the spot in situations that they are uncomfortable in. It's how a person performs in an unfamiliar situation that makes them special. One last thought, if the higher seed always won in the March Madness bracket, how many of us would seriously still watch? Isn't that the reason we seem to watch Top Shot week after week?
  10. Congrats on the new card. You've reached a milestone many of us strive for but few reach. You should be proud!
  11. Anytime I stay at a hotel I compare all the online rates between the major websites. When I find the best rate I'll search online for coupon codes to save a little more. I've actually used the AARP code more than once
  12. We have our first match of the year tomorrow and invited a new shooter to help with setup and "show the ropes" a day early to minimize the pressure tomorrow. Anyways, he had a number of minor issues to work with. We helped with his "hollywood teacup" stance, but I got the impression that he thought we were a bit pushy. (It really reminded me of the latest top shot episode!) On top of all this, he is using a nylon holster that appears less than secure and I am worried it may lead to an issue tomorrow. I have a holster that I have offered to let him use, but he is satisfied with using his own. I really don't want to come off pushy, but I have that gut feeling that we're going to end up with a gun and holster on the ground tomorrow. What would you do?
  13. I've always lovee the look of weims. The picture with his head in the food bag is priceless! We named our german shorthair "cooper" or "coop" for short. The one syllable name comes in handy when you need to praise/punish them. I do like Kaspar though
  14. Several years ago when my mom passed away my aunt pulled some strings to buy our house for what was left on the loan so we could "keep it in the family". 6 months later she sold it for a hefty profit. We haven't talked since.... All you can do is move forward
  15. Thanks for the kind words guys. It gives me a little extra motivation to go after those last 10 pounds. I hope the best for all of you looking to lose a few, and hope to read this in a few months with some more comparison pics!
  16. Portion control and cutting out the crap was the key for me. In October 2009 I weighed 230 pounds in all my glory. As of mid summer 2010 I was down to 180, where I've stayed for the past 6 months plus or minus 5 pounds. I'd like to get to around 165ish, but I'm happy where I am for now. I feel great, and my BP and resting HR has dropped dramatically. I have more energy and the best part is I don't sweat when it's 70 degrees outside anymore. and Stick with it brother, it's definitely worth it in the long run. I still smile when my friends and family ask if I've lost weight
  17. Stages look spectacular Jake This is quite a drive for me but I've got it on my radar!
  18. When I started shooting USPSA i used a Beretta. Mec Gars were my favorites. You will have no regrets with them
  19. G35 with KKM bbl, Jager extended steel guiderod with a 14# Wolf recoil spring, extra strength trigger spring, reduced plunger spring, stock striker spring. I was using the reduced striker spring but I felt the reset was not as crisp as with the stock spring. YMMV
  20. Sorry Tim, but I couldn't disagree more about the problem with unloaded starts when someone "forgets" to take the extra round out. If one extra round isn't that big of a deal, why do so many limited and open shooters go through so much trouble to get one more extra round in the magazine? EDIT: Not being disrespectful, just don't agree
  21. Still new at revolver, but I'm hoping to meet some new faces at A3, A5, IL Sectional, and hopefully MCC if I can save enough vacation
  22. No funny videos here, but I started shooting revo last fall and I still haven't been able to get that elusive 7th shot
  23. We had a guy at our local club that was DQ'd 3 times I think in the past year and a half. It never seemed to matter what he did, when the buzzer went off his mind went blank and he had a hard time with safe gun handling. I finally took him aside and asked what was up. We found out a couple of things which I firmly believe were working against him. #1 He felt pressured to "keep up" with other shooters in his division. When a squadmate posts a blazing run, it's easy to feel pressured to keep up with them. He would get so caught up with going fast that he wouldn't have a clear mind when shooting the stage. Also, it wasn't just keeping up with others in the squad. Complicated props and such would really throw him off mentally. He described the same "auto-pilot" thing as you did above. My advise is to work on your pre-stage visualization a lot. Before a stage, go through it in your head 3-4 times with a goal of only shooting safely. Don't worry about speed, just call your shots and be safe. Don't even look at your scoresheet, and don't pay attention to your squadmates' times. One easy way would be to request to shoot first, therefore eliminating the feeling to keep up with your squad. When you're done, reload your mags and have a good time socializing with your squad and pasting/resetting. You have to totally eliminate the feeling that you are competing, and instead feel like you are just shooting for fun. #2 Might be just my thinking, but he was an avid paintballer, and never previously had to worry about breaking the 180. When the adrenaline started pumping he had just learned to go fast and keep moving, not necessarily paying attention to his muzzle direction. This may or may not have been part of his problem, and unfortunately he never showed up to our local matches after his last DQ late summer. I guess what I'm getting at is there might be other subconscious thoughts you have learned somewhere that might be contributing to the issue. Stick with it, work on the mental game, and forget about your time next match.

    G35s for sale?

Hell I bought a G35 for production. This way I can jump into Lim or Lim10 when I eventually felt like it. IMHO, there is no better starter pistol for a new shooter in USPSA or IDPA. If you search hard enough you can find quality bullets....especially lead or moly if you have an aftermarked barrel for a good price. Alot of the new shooters at our local club were shocked when I told them I can reload .40 for under a dime a round last year (not counting brass) My guess is that these guys are upgrading to a 2011 style limited gun
