Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I wear Peltor TacSports, the sound quality closely rivals the Sordins I have worn and they only cost around $100. They are light and comfortable, and I forget they are on. They even have a jack for plugging in Ipods or a timer. The TacSports are like the step up from the Pro 6's. Avoid the $30 Remington ear muffs, the sound quality is terrible and usually only in one ear. Not to mention they are usually huge.
  2. Camp Allen Weapons range holds rogue matches twice a month, they are like a combination of IDPA and USPSA. Good for practice.
  3. I really like my Safariland holster that has the space for lights. LAPolicegear usually has good deals on holsters.
  4. You look like you are leaning forward a little bit, but you may be resting on your heels. Shift your weight to the balls of your feet, try to get your chin in front of your toes.
  5. Forearms strength is important to recoil management. How often and how intense of a forearm workout are you guys doing? Right now I am doing some light stuff at the end of each workout 3 times a week.
  6. I'm going to have to disagree with Pelican82. You want to look that mag into the gun. Get it done smooth and fast then find your target(you should KNOW where it is through good planning anyway). Plan your reloads with your movement as much as possible. In Production a good school of thought is to reload whenever your foot leaves the ground unless you have a good reason not to. I agree with you that a quick visual reference should be made to insure you have everything properly lined up right before you lock in a mag, even possibly using your peripheral vision to do this. I don't see other experienced shooters looking at their pistols with their head down the entire time they are reloading though.
  7. This is fascinating. Because the slide and frame on a G17, G22, G34 and G35 are all interchangeable. You can even swap mags in between each. I am not advocating breaking the rules, but I don't think the frame is marked anywhere what kind of caliber or model Glock it belongs to.
  8. They make ambi mag releases for Glocks, but I hear they are iffy. Never used one though. In the meantime you can simply release the mag with your right pointer finger by reaching around in front of the grip. That way you do not break your master grip. For releasing the slide simply slingshot it with your right hand.
  9. Are you primarily shooting inside our outside?

Possible your long arms could be slowing you up I guess. Your brain signal also has a longer distance to travel not just more muscle mass to manipulate and control.
  11. Welcome, to another WA shooter. I am new around here, but have enjoyed my time. Everyone seems professional... enough
  12. I would say as long as an individual shows dedication to do as much as I can to help them out. Maybe instead of letting him borrow your equipment, you tell him that you are going to "sponsor" or "stake him" until he can get all his gear. Tell him you get 50% of the prize money from his winnings and endorsements I doubt that any reasonable person would have a problem with someone shooting a .22 as long as the scores are not officially taken and the safety rules are observed.
  13. Work on not looking at your gun when you reload. It is difficult to do and I catch myself doing it sometimes. Your eyes should be up acquiring your next target. That should help out your speed.
  14. Low left can also be anticipation or the position of your finger on the trigger. You would be experiencing more recoil with shooting the smaller Glocks, and that may of lead to anticipation.
