  1. I think I'm going to enter my dog into the HM division at three different major matches. Even without firing a shot and zeroing every stage, he'll still be ranked top 50 in the nation!
  2. Trapr, I think you are mixing to different issues together. The idea of using pump shotguns, or open pistols, or iron sighted rifles in shoot-offs is a great one. I would think that this would spice things up and the vast majority of shooters in all divisions would support it. The issue at hand is selecting the best shooters and ranking them accordingly. There is no 100% fair way to do this and we all know life isn't fair. The most fair way is to chose by percentage in division. The new method proposed rewards small divisions to a extraordinary extent. When a guy could literally sign up for HM, shoot one stage and go home and place last, let's say 10th place. He gets more points that the guy that busted his butt for years to truly earn an 11th place finish in tac optics at a major match. It just isn't rewarding the right people. I'm trying to be as objective as possible.
  3. 3G Nation is great for the sport but this new scoring method is unfortunate. They won't be getting all the best shooters for the championship series. Lots of excellent shooters in that place high, percentage-wise, in tac ops and open will be left out. If a dude shoots three of the qualifying matches in the heavy divisions, he's basically guaranteed a spot in the top 50 even if he blows it every time and ends up at the bottom of every match. Since you only have to shoot 3 of the 9 eligible matches, there will be a huge glut of heavy shooters taking tons of the spots from the tac ops and open guys. It's really disappointing.

  5. You can cycle 7/8 oz or even 3/4 oz loads in your Benelli. I would stick with 1 oz or 1 1/8 oz though. 1 1/8 oz gives you a little more room for error.
  6. You need an M2 forearm, or just dremel your existing M1 forearm.
  7. M1/M2 barrels interchange but they do use different chokes. The forearms are slightly different as well. M1 barrel works with M1 or M2 forearm. M2 barrel works with M2 forearm only.
  8. Tom Knapp's Benelli M1 had over 500,000 rounds on it before he donated it to the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, WY. Did the mag tube entrance of your M1 get hogged out with a dremel or something?
  9. If you can't find a 21" VR Benelli M2, get a 24" M2 instead. It's much better suited to 3gun than a 18" rifle sighted Benelli. Or pick up a 21" or 24" Benelli M1 for $700 on gunbroker.
  10. I use pretty much any brass for 9mm major. I don't have scientific pressure numbers, but I'd say any truly 9mm major load has way more pressure than any +P+ factory load out there.
  11. I use a Glock 34 for everything. I shoot a lot of outlaw matches but very few USPSA matches.
  12. My M2's tube is a multi-part tube. It has a two sided male threaded section that screws into the main body of the tube and into the receiver. With some heat and a strap-wrench, it would come apart. I'd imagine your M1 tube is the same way.
  13. These areas you list are normal with any lifter. I've never had any reliability issues due to it.
  14. Benelli uses a threadlocker. Use a heat gun to heat up the threaded area for 60 seconds or so. Use a strap wrench to turn the tube off or leather gloves if you have a strong grip. Once the tube starts turning keep going. If it cools off it'll lock itself back in place.
  15. I think they look great. If the 60 rounders work as promised then you are going to see them all over the place in 3gun matches.
  16. I'm from the show-me state so that makes me skeptical. 10x is just too much. 6x is already more than enough for 3gun IMO.
  17. Yeah, it's best to avoid any thread locker on handguard nut threads. There's so much surface area that even with enough blue loctite, you can effectively make the assembly permanent. Been there, done that. I use moly grease on the threads.
  18. I use 147 gr Hornady XTPs for my suppressed Glock 34 and HK MP5K-N. You need 147's to allow cycling while remaining subsonic. There's a LOT of powders out there that you could use. Solo 1000 is my favorite but you can definitely achieve good results with most 9mm compatible powders.
  19. Benelli receivers are anodized for sure. I think it's just Type II anodizing, not the Type III hardcoat that you see on most quality AR15 receivers. The aluminum is very soft without anodizing. You could have the entire receiver chemically stripped of anodizing and re-anodized for less than $100 probably.
  20. Scottsdale Gun Club has them but you probably know that already.
  21. Use a choked barrel so you can use light birdshot, your shoulder will thank you!
  22. Noveske has stainless barrels worth a look. Bravo Company has stainless and chrome lined offerings.
  23. Cool. Personally I have never got Tac to group like I wanted. Never tried 8208 XBR what brand is that powder? Pat It's an IMR powder. Not the tightest groups I've ever seen with 69's but high velocity is a cinch.
  24. I have a chrono. You can hit 2900 with TAC or 8208 XBR pretty easily. I'll shoot at 100/200/300/400 again today.
  25. Just checked my BRT reticle booklet that came with the scope and it says the marks in the reticle are 1 mil each. Here is a photo of the info from page 1. Doug When I tried working with mine at first, I zeroed at 200 with 69SMKs at ~2900 fps and assumed 1 mil drops. Nothing hit where it was supposed to on my flash targets set out to 400 yards. I'm using the G5 drag profile for the SMK. Maybe I'm wrong.
