  1. Does anybody know who is in charge of this match? What rules they are running? Major/minor, etc. Any info appreciated, thanks. Smitty
  2. Awesome match as always at Barry. These folks know how to put on a shootin' match and this wasn't their first rodeo. No BS, no roller coasters, no 32 round squirt fests. Straight up who is the best shooter kind of match; if you think you got what it takes....bring it. Unfortunately it wasn't me but once I saw the competition signed up I figured I would be happy with a top 10 in that crowd. I'm pretty sure that is the highest caliber and volume of top competitors at one match in one division that I have seen. It's always good to get back to Barry....and for once we had good weather for the Single Stack. Yeah, the gnats were a little annoying but I'll take that over washing mags out in the mud puddle between stages as I've done more than once there. Plus I wore shorts both days....pretty sure I've never done that at that match either. Excellent job crew......Thanks! Smitty
  3. In the mean time, just turn your regular poppers around backwards. Voila....forward falling poppers.
  4. Big thanks to the staff for putting on another great A6. It's been a lot of years there and I'm sure they are getting worn out, but still doing a great job. 380 some shooters....that's pretty amazing. Someone earlier said "spring nationals", that's a pretty good description. Congrats to Bob for an awesome Limited win....now go back to Production. Congrats to all the other winners as well. This is hard for me to believe. Is this something a RO just did without range master approval? How could a RO possibly think this would be ok?
  5. Can't say I know any Rocket Scientists but I did spank a revolver GM once......in a totally non-gay way. -S

  7. Enjoyed shooting with you also...we had an excellent squad that worked well together. Although I have to be honest and say I was cussing you a bit on the last stage when you shot ahead leaving me to go first without knowing it....... It was an easy stage though so no worries. As usual another tough Florida Open. I was mentioning to some squad mates on stage 2 that a normal match a 32 yard paper target would be the talk of the match....but nobody seemed to even recognize them with all the 'stuff' going on on that stage. I also mentioned I don't think I shot many splits under a half a second....but that is pretty much the standard for the Open. I made a 50 point colossal mistake on stage three that I figured at the time would cost me the match, unfortunately I was right. I was glad to see my buddy Mike Burrell win it though, he definitely shot a good match to win. Also huge congrats to Tammy for the Lady Open title....I have been very impressed with her progress over the past couple years. That guy she runs around with has been coming on strong also and perhaps most importantly they both do a huge amount for the sport and their local clubs. Great job! Thanks to Wadette for putting on the match and all the RO's! -S
  8. That's not even a practical motorcycle. Riding like that would get you killed on the street. Sure he's good but if I had equipment like that I could do it to. I'd like to see him try that with a real bike.
  9. Thanks Rob, just the info I was looking for. It's the 4-12x40. I will look at Burris.
  10. I have a LR308 with the raised picatinny, I'll be mounting a Leupold Mark II Anyone know what height rings to go with? I'm not sure with the raised rail. Would be interested in any brand recommendations also, I don't know much about rings. Thanks.

So is this supposed to solve the alleged FTF's with a weapon mounted light? If so does anyone know how it's supposed to fix it? I haven't experienced these alleged problems myself but read it on the internet so obviously it's true.

  14. Awesome match Hop and all the gang that made it happen. I know putting on a big match is a ton of work and it doesn't go unnoticed. Also special thanks to the RO's for working their butts off all day. Weather for us was perfect, I heard they had some sprinkles on Friday but I didn't notice. Got to shoot with Professor, National Champ, Bob, Phil and a bunch of cool (for revolver guys) dudes. I was lucky enough to get one of Bob's moon clip holders so ya'll will quit making fun of my old school basket weave and california clip holders. I was also lucky enough to grab one of Sons of Nemo key fobs......will definitely put that to use. Pretty cool of a young start up to make such a large donation to the sport. As Professor mentioned above....one bad shot and I coulda been a contender! Next year!!!
  15. Cool. I'll check them out thanks.
  16. Is that something you can handle Rich?
  17. Title says it all, I've looked around and haven't seen one. Anyone?
  18. As long as he gets a trophy for his Division win, Class win, and a medal for the stage win....that is what matters!
  19. We still have room in the match. If you're thinking about it send in your app. It will be a fun, well run match.
  20. Perfectly summed up. One of the better matches I've shot. Huge thanks to all the staff and crew involved!!
  21. 1.1.5 That should be all that is needed to be said but obviously it ain't. I think a lot of folks whining about intent this and unsportsmanlike that or gaming this just don't get it. How many of you have honestly read the rule book cover to cover? It shouldn't be us against them, stage designers against shooters. You shouldn't be scouring the rule book in search of a penalty for some action you didn't want the shooter to do. That is ridiculous. It isn't personal; stage designer designs the stage, shooter figures the best course of action that will yield the highest hit factor. Sure at the local level if you spot a gaping hole because of poor course layout that may be a different story. I've seen that also, either tell the md at the beginning or just tell everyone not to do it. But that is way different and we aren't talking about the local level. If that is all you shoot then you probably aren't getting it anyway. How many really grasp how the hit factor works? Phil threw down an awesome run shooting it while moving the cans (as intended for some of you). What would Taran have had to do to beat him? One would have had to go almost 4 seconds faster that Phil to yield a higher HF. I was the one that brought it up on our squad but I was the on deck shooter and didn't have time to figure it out or think it through. Taran was the fist one to try it and we still weren't sure at that point it was worth it. Taran was in contention for the match win, we thought he was leading at that point because Todd was on a different squad. So it was a huge gamble for Taran to try it without really knowing if it was worth it. It wasn't a sure deal. A high B shooter would have had to go over 5 seconds faster; high C 6 and a half seconds faster. (than they otherwise would) to gain a marginally better HF. This included some long range steel. That is what makes a cool stage. Trying to figure that and having legit ways to shoot. Not sheep like following what everybody else did because that is what someone 'intended'. Please, it isn't about you mister stage designer if your feelings are hurt that bad take up badminton or something. Just don't make two or three points of badminton a requirement of a USPSA stage. Good stage, good match, good stuff.
  22. That exactly what the best stages have for a wsb. The goal of our stages are to get the highest hit factor. Don't get upset with someone who comes up with a better plan. It isn't personal, folks are just trying to score the best within the rules. There are no ftdr's in USPSA.
  23. May not qualify as north Florida but WAC Practical Shooters in Pinellas Park, FL (north St. Pete) is having one on 8/29.
  24. How do they score it? Time plus? Hit factor? What is the penalty for running? It might be worth it to run anyway. You could be one of those 'gamer' people. What type of targets do they use?
