  1. I'm having blue screen of death problems on my main computer...where the stages are. (logging on from a different machine now) I'm going to try to get it fixed/salvaged today at some point. But I can't post the promised Monday stage at the moment, hopefully later today or tomorrow. Stand by to stand by. -S
  2. All that promotion and that is the best they could do for the first episode. I want my hour back. I was thinking one of the first scenes of the plane taking off was so obviously crappy CG. You mean to tell me they couldn't find some actual footage of a commercial airliner taking off. That sure would be tough to get, it happens so infrequently in the US. First and last one I'll watch which is good so now I don't have a conflict with MNF.
  3. I don't think more than 450. I'm still waiting on one stage to be turned by the designer and my final one to get on paper. I should have a solid answer by the end of this week for you. I wouldn't call it final, final. But pretty final round count is 435. There might be a tweak or two in the final drawing up of a couple stages but it won't vary by more than 10 rounds from that number. I'll try to get the final count done and posted to the site after the FL State Match this weekend.
  4. Our club put the stages I posted on the ground last Saturday and they look pretty great if I do say so myself. We were so busy in 100 degree heat I didn't get a chance to look around at any other stages but I know a couple at least were in the works. We're close to 200 shooters with only a couple days to go. If you're in Florida or in the area you should be signed up. You can't call yourself a competition shooter if you don't compete! Come on out, it's going to be a great weekend. I don't know the stage numbers but I'll be RO'ing the double stage in the cowboy town, be sure and say hi! Smitty
  5. I agree with you Aristotle. I've tried it before but it is over my country boy head I guess. I need to find a tudor to come hold my hand through it. In the mean time I'll continue rolling with MS Paint!
  6. I wonder if that's ever really been used against a lawful person in court. We've all heard it forever but why would it really matter? I think it's more likely just something someone made up and everyone else just repeats it. Kinda like no swimming for an hour after eating. Not busting on you Coco, just thinking out loud.
  7. I don't think more than 450. I'm still waiting on one stage to be turned by the designer and my final one to get on paper. I should have a solid answer by the end of this week for you.
  8. Our crew is heading over next Saturday to build our portion. I think we are close to 200 for the match with some room left so if you're in the area, going to be in the area, or can be in the area I suggest you shoot the match. State level match in Florida in September.....what's not to like?
  9. Thanks Driver. We thought we would try something new with the gradual roll out. Kinda keep some buzz going for a few weeks. It has been cool working on this match with the new sign up format, dedicated website and now the stage reveal. Running a match is a ridiculous amount of work as many of us know but at least you can do/try some things you always thought 'should' have been done. Almost all the stages are done, the two that aren't are in my head...just have to put them on paper. I can tell you that of the seven remaining, six are at least as awesome as the one posted, two are clearly awesomer, and one is at a level of awesomeness rarely seen in our fine sport. Get signed up folks, you don't want to miss it!! Shannon
  10. My pleasure Rob. Thanks for supporting the match. First stage posted!! TheMonsterMatch.net
  11. We decided to do a gradual stage roll out. So begining next Monday September 6 we will post one stage each Monday leading up to the match.
  12. I will receive it for you. Needs to be here by Oct. 22 as I'll be heading to the range for most of that week prior to the match. Shannon Smith 4006 W. Land Ave. Tampa, FL 33616
  13. Everything is looking pretty good. The match is about a third full. The online registration and payment is working great and I think it will be the standard within a year or so. I know I'll never run a match with mailed in paper apps and checks again. Get signed Up! October in Florida is usually pretty good....or full of hurricanes..it just depends. We are working on a stage specifically to cause Flex's head to explode in light of recent topics in the rules forum. How 'bout a disappearing popper that activates a disappearing target? Hmmmm..... You don't want to miss this one folks!! TheMonsterMatch.net
  14. Up and Back.pdf Tom Tom.pdf Quick and Dead.pdf Here are a few more to get the juices flowing. If you're on the fence about this match I would highly suggest shooting it. I'm pretty certain it's going to be a very well run match with some exciting stages and of course it's a great venue.
  15. Thanks sperman. You're the second person to bring that up. We're gong to change the wording so it's not as confusing.
  16. Registration seems to be working pretty well. I think this will change the way we sign up for matches. Match was 10% full in just a few hours. Thanks for your support.
  17. Registration Opens Tomorrow!!! Follow directions on the match website. Don't delay, get in early to secure your spot. www.TheMonsterMatch.net Thanks!
  18. 8 Stages, 400+ rounds, you do the math!!! Back for 2010 by popular demand. 8 stages of USPSA run and gun obnoxious round count excitement! We're going with a little different format this year, you will shoot the entire match in ONE day. Not only is this match a Monster in terms of round count but it will test the endurance of you and your equipment also. Streamlined sign up, online squadding, never before seen HOA awards, unique plaques for class winners, awesome stages.....you don't want to miss this one...this match WILL be talked about. All you need to know can be found at the match website. www.TheMonsterMatch.net Please help spread the word, share the website and contact me with questions. Thanks and hope to see you at the match! 19. It wasn't an appearing target (by your description). I see nothing wrong with your design. That was my point also but I guess because the word "activation" was in the rule and the target was activated He decided that the target in question was governed by this rule.
  20. Damn, now I'm actually agreeing with George. Whats this world coming to?
  21. Well I'm either too smart for all ya'll or too stupid but it seems to me everybody is missing the point. I said this in the other thread but I see 9.9.3 as handcuffing stage design, not helping it. I like the fact that I could throw some disappearing targets in a stage that may or may not be shot.....they are not only there for the challenge of hitting a moving, disappearing target but also to figure out comstock wise if it is in fact worth it or not. It's adding to the freestyle aspect of the stage in my opinion. Sure if you put it 20 yards down range with a foot activator setting it off and nothing to shoot while you wait folks are going to blow it off.....but that leads back to crappy stage design. I feel like all these rules are designed to the lowest common denominator stage designer and just not thought through very well. Maybe like welfare they had their place when implemented, but now just abused…or used as a crutch. Another example would be 2.1.8.5 "Appearing scoring targets must be designed and constructed to be obscured to the competitor (during the course of fire) prior to activation." I designed a stage where your gun was in a box on a table. Opening the box activated a swinger which I wanted to just swing freely in the open, visible the whole stroke...something you don't normally see. Well Range Master wouldn't allow that saying the target had to be obscured prior to activation. Totally worthless as you couldn't have your gun in your hand until the target was activated....but none the less, by rule that’s how we had to do it. So it popped out from behind a barrel just like every other swinger you've ever seen in your life. I think maybe we need a stand alone stage design guide instead of an additional 40 pages of a rule book. Bottom line….get rid of 9.9.3 and it would solve this thread and the other one. My 2 cents of course.
  22. I think this rule handcuffs some creative stage design. I don't see the point of it. I have desinged a stage before with the sole purpose of deciding if going after a disappearing target was worth it or not based on your ability level. I thought it was a cool idea but due to this rule those that chose to leave it had to calmly walk back through the stage after they finished shooting and step on a foot activator. Just slowed things down and wasn't necessary other than to comply with this rule. While on the subject, the Level I exemption is just silly for something like this. If you can't figure out how to hide a swinger prior to activation then you probably shouldn't be designing stages.
  23. Bingo! These questions rarely if ever arise with a legal stage. The Level I lazy exemption is not an excuse for incompetence. It isn't that difficult to just make it legal, I don't understand why folks would do that other than just not knowing the rules. An MD or any RO should be able to fix it pretty easily. If you want to debate the rules then fine, but this is like asking the penalty for using a hockey stick to score a goal in a soccer game.
  24. I highly doubt it is anyone looking over websites. If I were a bettin' man I would say it was a hotel employee that was aware of the event in town and alerted their 'associates'. If that is the case it doesn't matter where or how you advertise it or get the word out.
