  1. I look forward to seeing you on my stage!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGGwY6rPDmw
  2. Looking forward to it. I think I'm going to dust off the Open gun for this one.
  3. Thanks to all the shooters for supporting the match. Little wet on Friday and Saturday and a little windy on Sunday but everything worked out pretty good. Thanks to the staff and RO's for busting their asses two or three weekends straight to put on the match for everyone. I put some pictures and video up on the Media page of the website. Trophies should go out the first of next week. If I'm around and able we'll do it again next year.
  4. http://floridasection.org/stages.pdf It's on the front page where it says 'view match stages click here'
  5. Got some photos of the build weekend along with the rest of the stages up on the website. Shooters meeting will be on the website tonight or tomorrow. Lunch plans will be up as well, we're having BBQ for $10 I think. Will probably be consolidating some of the smaller squads in the next day or so. Keep an eye on MatchSignUp in case your squad gets changed. I'll be at the range tomorrow through the end of the match. Cell service can be spotty out there but I'll get back to anyone asap.
  6. Check the website tomorrow. Some more stages and photos from the build this weekend will be going up.
  7. Updates to the website today. New stages posted. Get those costumes ready!!!
  8. You'll probably be ok. The highest stage round count is 59. The par time steel will have more targets than that but in reality you probably won't get that far. If you had one more that would be plenty but you can probably borrow one just for an O'shit mag. Remind me and you can borrow one of mine if needed. However PBSC does have excellent mags for sale.....actually that mag rental business is a pretty good idea!!
  9. I am making a command decision now (after a rum and a half) that if you shoot in a G-String OR Gorilla suit OR similar I will be the final authority on legality. If your belt is waistish, it will be good to go. As far as staff you ARE eligible for the costume contest provided you abide by the requirement of shooting the match in costume and remain unbiased in judging. I've heard a couple good costume ideas......hope a lot of folks participate, it could be cool. I will update the website this weekend or Monday with the official costume contest rules. I haven't figured the prize just yet but it will be something worth winning. Worth close to or more than the match fee in monetary value. Obviously priceless as sentimental value.
  10. Stages are done and drawn up, I will start posting a few this week. Round count is going to be 380ish, 400 max. Don't forget about the costume contest.....details will be on the website this week. I'm going to have a cool prize for the winner...... Still have plenty of room.....spread the word!!
  11. We accidently had a bunch of staff on a Saturday squad. I got them switched to Friday where they should be. So in case you weren't shooting due to a lack of Saturday openings there are a few open now though it is still getting close to full for Saturday. Been getting stages converted to files all day, will start to post some sometime this week. It's gonna be a fun match!!
  12. This friday is the cutoff for pre-order t-shirts. They are available from the website MatchSignUp.org. We will have a few extra available at the match but the bulk are going to be pre-order. It's shaping up to be a great match!!!!!!!
  13. Finally got around to updating the website for those interested. Match recap, gun, and some video. www.FASTacademy.net Thanks!
  14. Reminder the discount for early application ends tomorrow!!! Get signed up!!! If you're already signed up.....get your friends to sign up!!!!
  15. Thanks folks. I appreciate the thanks and it means a lot coming from my Enos family especially Brian. Though we have never met I always admired his accomplishments in and service to the sport. I will have more posts and media on my website some time this week but wanted to post here first. A word of caution....this is likely to be a long post. I have been a member here for many years, I haven't posted much in the last couple but I have learned a TON from the knowledge on this forum and am always willing to share. I can't express what an honor it is to win this match. If my memory and research is correct there have only been 8 people to win the Limited Nationals. 5 of those have come in the past 6 years. What does that say about the level of competition in Limited? Although I love Open, Limited has always been my favorite largely because I think it always has the highest level of competition. Quick match recap: I thought the stages were pretty good. Good mix of accuracy requirements and field courses. On many of the big stages they had enough no-shoots to make you think about trying to point shoot them. I shot decent the first day and was just happy to get through penalty free. The second day we had a lot of stages and I felt like I really shot well. Once the results posted that night the pucker factor really began to set in. There are some that may say they don't feel the pressure but I find that a little hard to believe. Leading the Nationals going into the last day is probably the most pressure/nerves I've ever felt. So we start the last day with me in the lead and Manny 3 points back...that obviously is nothing. Travis, Ted, Nils were all not too far back. The first stage of the last day (stage 1 if you were there) had a foot activator a little bit out of the way. Manny is second up on the first stage of the last day of the Nationals knowing he is one Charlie out of the lead and he decides to throw a spare mag left handed on the start signal at the foot activator so he can blow through the position. It effin works perfectly and he goes 10 something seconds. You can't imagine what kind of balls it takes to try some shit like that in that position. So I thought "well this is what I'm going to have to deal with all day". That's pretty much how it was, Travis, Manny, BJ, Ted all gunning for the lead... I figured there wasn't a whole hell of a lot I could do about it so just go out and attack the stages. No shame in getting beat by any of these guys but I didn't want to take myself out. So as cliche as it is I decided to just shoot my game as best as I could and what happens happens. A lot of the guys were making mistakes trying to catch up and I guess that is pretty much how it goes. 20 points is a decent margin of victory I guess but it's more than it seems if you were watching. Thats basically one penalty and one D. Not much in the grand scheme of a 20 stage match. Most of the squad thought I had pulled it out but I couldn't relax until the scores posted at the range. That was a very long hour to wait. A little full circle story I wanted to share.....Alan Kies is a good friend of mine that introduced me to the sport in the pacific northwest around 1998. As most of you know this sport is largely about the people involved and good friends you make along the way. We haven't seen each other much in the 11 years I've been in Florida but we talk on occasion. He called me a week before the nationals to say he was going to be there for the Open match, we were able to meet Tuesday night for a drink and catch up for an hour or so. It was nice to see an old friend. This is of importance because when he was introducing me to the sport, showing me around to the clubs, and meeting the people he was always talking about this kid named Travis Tomasie. He said Travis was a grandmaster and amazing shooter I had to see. So even though we were about the same age and I never got to know him while living out there he was always kind of a legend to me and the area. Fast forward 10 years and we're team mates on the champion US World Shoot team....2 more years and he's trying to chase me down on the last few stages of the US Limited Nationals. Amazing to think about for me!!! I guess thats all for now, thanks for everyones support over the years. I'm not sure whats next, maybe I'll retire undefeated and take up golf! Good luck to all our boys and girls competing in Greece, kick ass!......wish I was there. Smitty
  16. I knew Enoverse would come through. Thanks!
  17. There was a stage at the WS in Ecuador (I'm pretty sure it was from this match) where basically two bays were used with a tunnel in between. Steel in one bay activated a runner in the other bay and vice versa. I'm looking for video of this stage....anyone have a link? Thanks, Shannon
  18. Silerlock, The ultra high round counts of the individual stages do make it a bit intimidating for the newer shooter......and experienced shooter alike for that matter. But I don't set up any traps, don't try to trick anyone. I'm a competitor first and match director second so I like to set up stages that I think would be fun to shoot. That's the main goal of this match.....have fun! I promise the match will be challenging, you will be worn out at the end of the day, but I'm willing to bet you will enjoy the experience. Check out some of the video on the website from last year if you haven't already. Hope you decide to make it. Shannon
