  1. You have to consider not all IDPA clubs actually enforce the rules or even follow them. I've heard of one club that penalize way too many points for a no shoot and also for shooting too fast. SSP is for guns that fire with DA first shot, DAO, or safe action. P7 apparantly in IDPA view is consider SA.
  2. It went to ESP in with the 2001 rule book. What's funny is that IPSC classifies the P7 as a prod class gun with the first shot being DA and a minimum of 5 lbs trigger pull.
  3. No it is not IDPA legal. The USP/Expert with an ambi safety measures 1.75". Width is the same on both USP and Expert because they use the same frame. IDPA rulebook is different than USPSA. Basically if USPSA say yes, IDPA would say no.
  4. If the battery goes dead, well you end up with a non-lit reticle. Don't think of it as a red dot, but an illuminated reticle scope.
  5. Has anyone tried the Frankford Arsenal primer tube filler? Midway has them for $60. It's hard to justify spending $200 for the Dillon one.
  6. It's sort of like the clothes washer and dryer. Wear the clean clothes from the dryer and put the dirty clothes in the washer. Run the dryer a couple minutes before you wear the clothes to get out the wrinkles and you always have nice warm clothes for that cold day.
  7. This is straight off of IPSC's web page. 9. Am I allowed to cock my SA/DA pistol for the first shot in a course of fire? No. The first shot in a course of fire must be double action. See question 11 for the exception.
  8. There's plenty of IDPA guys you can beat in the overall results...hehe
  9. Good thing you didn't install Baby 1.0. That program pretty much stops all other programs from working.

    base pads

I've e-mailed IDPA about this a while back. Basically you can use any basepad or extensions as long as the gun still fits in the box and the mag is within one ounce of original factory weight.
  11. Three -0 hits will make it look suspicious. If you have less than perfect shot placements, then it's a hard call to make.
  12. I just got a S&A ambi mag release for a Para. My primary reason for getting an ambi mag release is because my left hand keeps bumping into the mag release during recoil and dropping the mag. I was using a standard size button and should have gone to a heavier spring. But I'm use to shooting HK's which I always use my index finger to release the mag. I do like the ambi button on the S&A, but there are some problems I've encountered. The biggest one is the fact that you don't have to push as hard or as far to release the mag from the left side. This resulted in more unwanted mag drops. I would highly suggest grinding the left side flush. There also might be some fitting issues to deal with, my would barely catch the mag before I started filing away at the mag release. You will also have to get out the dremel and cut a small notch in the frame for the release to work properly.
  13. Slight side track, HK P7's are IPSC Prod legal but not IDPA SSP legal. I'm sure IDPA will do the opposite of IPSC just to be different.
  14. 10/22's are really picky. You never know what it'll like until you try different ammo. My 10/22T tuned by Connecticut Precision Chambering hates good ammo, I guess that's a good thing. Winchester Dynapoints will generally do well in most 22's, but are only available from K-Mart. As for my gun, the best groups I've shot are with the Dynapoints and Eley Club ammo (0.20" groups at 50 yards). It hated the Eley Match ammo, along with Win Match, and Fed Gold Ultra Match. For some unknow reason, most of the Match ammo shot 1.5-2" groups at 50 yards besides stovepiping a lot. Winchester Power Point also shoots pretty well and has good knock down power especially against varmints.
  15. Don't worry about bringing the open guns. There is a provision in the stupid assault weapon law that allows competition shooters to bring into the state an assault weapon to be used for a match. This was mainly because of the End of Trails event. June will be in the 80-90's, at least it won't be in the 100's.
  16. Here's a good reason to go to the USPSA Nationals. USPSA Nationals has prizes. IDPA Nationals don't have prizes. Or go to the Steel Challenge. It has prizes and IDPA categories.

    SVI IMM

I got a question for those that own or shot one. Any of you shot one in 40 cal since that complies with modified rules. How well does the integrated comp handle muzzle flip?
  18. I never like reloading 45 winchester brass with winchester primers. For some unknown reason, the primer pockets are really tight. I get to the point where I'm afraid to push any harder to seat the primer. I have no problems with Starline brass.
  19. I use the Bolle Vigilante with the perscription insert. The only thing I don't like is how easy the notch on the lens wear, causing the lens to not completely sit in the frame. I've been playing around with different color lens right now. Lately we've been getting a lot of bad weather which makes it good to test lens colors. On bright sunny days, I usually use the gray lens or the mirror blue lens. On cloudy days, yellow lens tend to be too bright overall. I do like the vermillon lens. It makes everyone look rosy and it turns my blue dillon bag into a vivid blue. I've been using this lens a lot lately. The downside is when I take it off, everything looks gloomy. I do have cinnamon and citrus lens but I haven't try using those yet. I wish Bolle would come out with a IPSC specific lens. They have a lens for tennis which highlights yellow, but mutes the other colors. The Cinnamon lens is designed for golfers to highlight contrast in green colors. They need to make one that makes the brown cardboard stand out.
  20. Who has the best one that's worth owning?
  21. Laser-cast's reloading manual has a good section on reloading for competition. It's also written by a forum member.

  23. I'm back sitting on the Throne, wondering why I ate...
  24. Wow, you guys practice! I guess that's why I'm stuck at a high C and can't quite get up into the B's. Between school and work, and what's left of my social life, there's not much time left for training. I try to keep my practice session (what's that) less than 200 rounds, usually just about 100 rounds. By not bringing tons of rounds, I can keep my goals specific and just work on those goals. If I have a lot of ammo, I tend to end up throwing rounds downrange. Plus I get sick of loading mags and picking up the brass, and thinking about how much work it's going to be to reload more rounds. Basically shoot until it's no longer fun, when shooting has become a chore.
  25. Having worn Bolle sunglasses (Edge and Vigilante) with the perscription inserts for the last 10 years, it's not that bad having two lenses in front of you. The only time I have problems is when both lenses fog up. Other than that, you do have twice the protection if a piece of lead was to fly back and hit you.
