  1. Now what happens when you decide to take the mag extension off and run it like a stock gun? Does it still function?
  2. Deviation from original topic, should I get the Briley mag tube extension or the SRM Performance that Brownells sells for the Browning Gold?
  3. SL-8 has a thumbhole stock which is a no-no, plus HK is no longer importing them.
  4. If you look at the M60E3, they moved the bipod further back. They realize it decreased accuracy, but was easier to swing the gun from target to target.
  5. What size barrel do you guys run with the Browning? Would a 28" barrel be too long to use for 3 gun?
  6. I been shooting a Browning Gold for over 3 years now, I don't shoot 3 gun yet, and the guns been pretty much flawless unless I don't maintain the gun in any way for a few hundred rounds. I use it for hunting, sporting clays, and skeet. Does the gun work without the mag extension? If it works fine without the extension, then it's obvious the extension is causing the problems. Maybe you can try the other mag extension that Brownells carries.
  7. What about the gas piston? Browning has two gas piston, one for lighter loads and one for heavier loads. The heavy one comes on the 3.5". Sporting clays model has both.
  8. The key is to use two completely different guns, that's what I do. Occasionally it fails on me.
  9. The timer was by the shooter's ear, except the shooter moved faster than the RO. I think what happened was as the RO was moving the timer away from the shooter, he bumped the gun out of the holster. The holster was a CR Speed. I can see thumb breaks making a come back if we had to lock the holster.
  10. Here's a twist on this. This happened to someone I know. The stage started with the shooter kneeling or something like that. When the buzzer went off, the shooter stood up, but in the process the timer bumps the gun out of the holster. The RO didn't DQ the shooter because it was his fault. The MD was furious that the shooter got a reshoot instead of a DQ. MD listen to the RO story and DQ the shooter anyways. Is this a fair call?
  11. There's an article by McMillan saying that the whole concept of break-in for a rifle barrel was suggested by barrel makers to increase business. The idea is to get the person to fire a X number of rounds prior to using it for competition. Since competition guns have a limited life span for the barrel, they just reduce the number of rounds for the barrel.
  12. Mech-tech carbine is consider to be an assault weapon in CA.
  13. Or just send your gun to CPC at http://www.ct-precision.com CPC is about the best at 10/22's.
  14. Wow, that's strange, my Browning Gold European, aka Classic, never had a problem except when I don't clean it after a few hundred rounds. Even then it only stovepiped on the really light loads.
  15. Shooting the standards in the rain with baggies might suck, but at least you were back in your hotel rooms by the time we got started shooting. We didn't get started till 6:30 pm, we were to last squad to shoot that day. Of course Mother Nature decided to bring out the sun and stop the rain after the last shooter finished at 7:00 pm.
  16. Here's what my friends did to publicly humiliate someone, this was in bicycle racing. We had a guy who was a junior national champion in duathalon (running and riding) racing in the beginner class for road racing. Besides yelling out sandbagger at each race, they ended up placing a stack of sandbags around his car at a race. Next race, he moved up two categories and still won.
  17. Anyone got the results on the SC?
  18. You have to give him some credit for not dropping the gun into the toilet. I'm sure we've all heard of tales from the porta-potty at matches.
  19. Boar tag is about $6-7 for 5 tags. The last time I went boar hunting, wasn't really hunting. We're at my friend's ranch outside King City. We literally walked outside in our PJ's and sat by the fence about 50 feet from the house. The wild boar were about 50 yards out. There were about 10 of them and didn't even seem to mind that we were at the fence. They also didn't seem to mind the gun shots since none of them ran away after the first shot.
  20. The game wardens will be out there before you are. They write down everything you do, don't even point the gun at a non-season animal, they will get you for attempt to take. BTW, the good wardens can be less than 20 feet away from you, and you won't even know.
  21. If you use it for hunting, might as well leave a plug in there forever. Almost everything except varmints require 3 rounds only. BTW, not having a plug is about $700 fine, plus confiscation of your shotgun.
  22. SOP is to have one marshall up front, one in the back. I wonder who gets to pick who's in first class?
  23. Here's a link to the qualification test. http://www.parkcitiestactical.com/fam/amq.html
  24. There is an ideal ESP gun. That would be a 1911 chambered in 40 with 9 rounds in the mag. 9+1 is the best setup when you shoot till slide lock because it allows you to finish the 2 shots on the target before slide lock.
  25. Bottleneck cartridges have one other problem if you reload. Multiple reloading weakens the neck. You might get a neck separation, which would be a tough jam to clear in the middle of competition.
