  1. I did the calculations on how long it takes to hear the sound from the bullet hitting the plate at 35 yards on Speed Option and Outer Limits. It's roughly at 0.20 sec. About 0.1 for the bullet to get down there and slightly less than 0.1 for the sound to come back. Todd Jarrett was joking that they need to find KC a girl to slow him down.
  2. If you shoot minor, poppers take a long time to fall. It's best to go on to another target immediately. For your stage, I would shoot the first popper, then the popper on the other side of the paper, 2 shots into the paper and finish the last two poppers.
  3. Doesn't the match director have the ultimate say in all this?
  4. You can buy 4 SDB for the price of a 1050. I can load 100 rounds every 10 minutes with my SDB. 1050 is good if you never change calibers.
  5. The HK P7M8 makes a good Steel gun, especially for a out of the box gun. I'm shooting mine at the SC in ESP.
  6. I told you, you would be hooked. That hard part is now over. If you didn't finish the course of fire, it's a automatic 30 sec. if playing by SC rules.
  7. I know what Bird is thinking about. So I'll just ask it. Is it possible to make GM using a HK USP or Expert? Can a 30 oz. polymer frame gun be competitive against a 1911 based race gun.
  8. In 20-30 years, we'll be back playing laser-tag again. The shots are instant and there's no recoil.
  9. I was going to say a P7M13, but it just got bumped to ESP.
  10. Should I shoot the actual stages for practice or do something different? Only a month and a half left before the SC.
  11. Found a video of BE shooting a stage. http://www.sportshooter.com/movies/enos_outerlimits.mpg BE, care to comment on the third shot? Did you start to leave then realized you missed the shot? Is it good to hose down the stop plate or make one good shot?
  12. Tried a 11# spring with a 169 pf load today. Gun felt really good, almost seems like it was floating in my hands.
  13. Steel challenge entry fee is $250. I do like the fact that in IDPA SSP and ESP, there are 5 guns to be given away in each category. 3 to the top 3 and 2 at random. Rimfire has 12 guns, 6 to the top 3 in optical and iron sights and 6 drawn at random. At least your odds of walking away empty handed are a little smaller.
  14. They banned dodge ball from PE in elementary schools. How much worse can it get?
  15. AD's are probably the most common. I got DQ'ed for dropping my gun on a transfer between hands.
  16. Is a 11lbs spring too light for a Para 40 making major?
  17. STI hold less rounds than the Para's. They are faster when doing static reloads. STI are 140 mm so no extended basepads. Stick with the Dawson basepads. For the limited 10 shooters, Dawson is now making a limited 10 basepad for the 10 round para mags. What's the best way to polish the inside of a mag?
  18. "To know and yet (think) we do not know is the highest (attainment); not to know (and yet think) we do know is a disease." Tao #71.1
  19. Is it John Shaw and J. Michael Plaxco in 81 and 82? They are the "first man" to win it. Margin of victory <1s.
  20. BE should write "Practical Gunsmithing Beyond Fundamentals".
  21. Michael, that's a girl with 2 HK USP Match in 9mm, not 45.
  22. What I like is this web site. Take a look at the other sites run by other shooters, Barnhart, Jarrett, Koenig, etc. All those sites look the same, background info and something they are selling. Brian's web site does sell a few things (2 items). It has a great forum, Brian's hate list and words of wisdom and of course Brian himself.
  23. Perata and all the other politicians don't mind if we all moved out of state. That what he said before the Olympics because of the girl in SoCal that couldn't compete with her Olympic target pistol because it was classified as an assault weapon. I think she ended up moving. By the way, for those of you not in PRK, this does apply to you if you shoot in Kalifornia. Especially if you shoot the Steel Challenge. Open guns with a threaded barrel are technically illegal to bring into the state. Last year there was an exemption granted by Att. Gen. Lockyer for the End of Trails event. Haven't heard anything similiar with the Steel Challenge.
  24. PRK is too screwed up right now. Open guns are technically illegal if it has a threaded barrel. It's classified as an assault weapon. The big question is how many guns SVI is willing to submit for testing. They must submit 3 of each model for testing and a lot of money. Even one gun that's made in blued steel and stainless counts as two different models. So the cost is outrageous. Most companies cannot justify the expenditures to sell maybe 10 guns a year.
