  1. What kind of 10/22 is it? Any work done to it? What kind of ammo are you using? 22's in general are very ammo sensitive. What works in one will not work in others.
  2. It's not a FTDR. Nowhere in the rule book does it say you can't use knee pads. But in one of the Tactical Journals it said you can't use external knee pads. You can put them on under your pants though. The best knee pads I've ever used were aggressive inline skating knee pads, they were over $100. They were big and very well padded. I was able to slide up a low port at full speed and never felt a thing.
  3. Keep it the same. If it ain't broke, why fix it? I would like to see the 5 lb first shot rule in the US.
  4. The best way to get "cheater pads" for IDPA use is to buy a pair of Royal Robbins 5.11 pants and stuff some neoprene in the knee pouch. No one can tell you have knee pads on. You can get neoprene at a dive shop, just ask if they have any rental wetsuits that they are going to be throwing away, I got one for $5.
  5. 22-250 will give you a better mist. 223 is readily available in case you run out of ammo.
  6. I seriously can't tell much of a difference between a steel guide rod and a tungsten guide rod in my P16. I thought about getting a new barrel, but just couldn't get myself to do it because the stock barrel will shoot 3" groups at 50 yards.
  7. I guess this is where the Tubb2000 rifle will really shine. Just hit the mag release and pop in another 20 round mag.
  8. I have to disagree. The rules state the calibers that qualify for ESP, 45 is not one of them. ENHANCED SERVICE PISTOL DIVISION Handguns permitted for ENHANCED SERVICE PISTOL division must be Single Action or selective SA/DA and be of 9mm (9x19), (9x21), (9x23), .38 Super, .357 Sig, .40 S&W, .41 AE, 10mm Norma, .400 Cor-Bon and meet the following criteria:
  9. Make sure you get a rainbow color umbrella and shoot with Team Schroom. Nolan can fill you in on this one.
  10. Just send the HK to Bruce Gray and he'll make the trigger right.
  11. If you want to put a limit on mag capacity it should be: Limited-20 rounds Open-unlimited 20 rounds would work better since non-AR rifles are usually available with 20 round mags. There's a mag length rule for pistol, a mag capacity for shotguns, so why not have one for rifles?
  12. 390 and 391 don't have mag extensions because the gas piston is in front of the mag tube. All other gas guns like the Browning or Remingtons have the gas piston around the mag tube.
  13. NorCal is easy to find a smith. Bruce Gray is in Sac, and Johnny Lim of Limcat is up in Reno but frequently shoots in Sac.
  14. Browning sells two pistons for the Gold.
  15. Instead of opening up the gas port, anyone try using the piston for heavy loads?
  16. None of my Para mags have any markings, hi-cap or 10 round mags. The only markings on the mag is "Made in Canada". If you have no measuring instruements or other mags to compare with, it would be hard to figure out what caliber they are for. The fullsize Para's (P14-45, P16-40, and P18-9) all use the same size mag. It's the same frame with a different top end. So by using the 40 mag with 9mm, you don't really gain an advantage over the 9mm mag. The only thing is the 9mm mag are next to non-existant in the US.
  17. How can anyone tell the difference between the mags since they aren't marked? Para does make a 9mm mag for the P18-9 which happens to be the same length as the 40 mags, so what's the big deal?
  18. Check this out http://www.ncoer.com/wall.htm
  19. That sounds too much like the IDPA scoring system.
  20. I think switch sides of a barricade would be considered changing positions since you go from leaning left to leaning right. If you set up another wall into a T, then you would have to change position to shoot the other array.
  21. I shoot with my hand close to the receiver on my rifle and shotgun. I've notice a lot of shooters have their hands closer to the muzzle. Which is the ideal position?
  22. That would be interesting, big flames coming out of the muzzle brakes.
  23. If you don't want to join the Marines, you can use their training manual. It's available from the USMC to download at https://www.doctrine.quantico.usmc.mil/mcrp/htm/mcrp301A.htm
  24. It would be too hard to adopt the Shot Show rule for firearms on display. Have the vendor pull the firing pin out of the dsiplay guns. Then put a tag on it that declares the gun to be approved. It take less than a minute to do that. As for competitor's guns, let the vendors be the RO and decide what is safe. Afterall, they are the ones standing in front of you if you need to give them your gun.
