You should always work up any load for your exact gun. Dont just go with what anyone says. Run it over a chrono. If you dont have one chat with some of the shooters at your local clubs or range. Or check with BE'ers to see if anyone nearby can get to the range with you. Most shooters are willing to help ya, just ask.

Just used up my last 5K in 2 G17s with Vanek triggers. Not a single problem. SD were somewhat lower than Federal SP Mags that I currently have.

Solo 1000 works great! Im sure WST does just havent tried it yet.

Solo 1000 over a Bear Creek 125 moly. I think Im at 4.2 gr. Have to double check. Consistently gets me 1030-1050 FPS. Have never once thought about or noticed smoke.

Todd Green from Pistol-Training.com had one with over 50K on it in the first year. S&W president fired the 50,000 shot I believe. It wasnt a Pro, this was a very early 9.

It is addicting. You will find yourself shooting more and more. Just to play with your new ammo! Congrats

Excellent breakdown. As a new shooter I really appreciate post like this. I try to have one of my last thoughts on deck... shoot slow do everything else fast (as fast as I have practiced). Thanks

I run exactly the same load (4.1) over 125 Bear Creek moly in two G 34s. I use mixed stamp and get about 30 FPS variation. Between normal powder dispensing variability +/- .1 gr and mixed stamps I think thats pretty good. Doesn't affect accuracy to my ability to test. Maybe off a mechanical rest but not me off a rest at 25 yards. I have shot a thousand rounds in a day without cleaning, each gun, two shooters during a class. Did not see enough lead/moly buildup to get worried. 5 minutes with a lead cleaner in the bore and a few passes, patches come out clean.

Get your custom molded ear plugs. They will do it with your earbuds built in. About a hundred bucks.

whoops while clearing my gun after shooting a stage
scottrebello replied to ironb's topic in Match Screw-ups
The RO really has to keep the shooter under control. Too many shooters new and old want to rush the slide forward hammer down. We need to pause there and really pay attention. Im a production shooter and I just lock my slide until I get the command. I know its different for open and ltd guns and its tough for me as a RO if Im not focused watching them. -
There will be alot of this if you search Solo 1000. I use 4.1 over Bear Creek 125 moly coated. Gets me about 1030-1050 FPS. Start much lower and work your way up to where you need to be. If you dont have a chrono check with your local club, someone will be more than happy to help you out. There are several people on the forum using 4+ with 125 and more than 3.5 with 147 too. But again work up in your gun. OALs vary with gun. My 2 G34 and a G17 both like 1.125. Much longer and they dont always chamber fully. I dont have factory springs in them currently though so again your gun will be different. Try experimenting a little, some guns will shoot shorter better and some wont. Good luck

If you use the Dillon powder measure it has a floating shiny piece. It extend down and is visible when the press is set up. It flares your case when fully the case goes into it during powder dispensing. Adjust down as necessary. -
Stage array problems- when to move on?
scottrebello replied to Bigpops's topic in Stage Comments or Questions
TS have good sized plates on em. Just shoot at you speed. The 4" squares are what will throw my stage planning off. Transitioning to slower shooting is where I have to use my brain. -
Thanks for answering so quickly. Also got an email from USPSA. Just waiting on my packet.

My SO and I got our slots at the O/P. Just curious if we get options for squading or what? Obviously want to shoot with her. I emailed a request to USPSA and am waiting.

A towel or face cloth strung up will stop them inside of a cardboard box. You could use the luan for the front and do it on the cheap. I do just that without the luan and use 1/3 scale metrics. Plus I have several steel including a plate rack.

Got a tall MGW pusher, dont have it with me at work so I cant post the model number. It says Glock Tall on it. My problem is my slide doesnt fit in it. G17 and 34's with Dawson fixed. I know they make several different ones just looking for one that will work with the Glocks. Used one in Reno at a GSSF match and it was much bigger than the one I got. Just like to find which one fits before I send back and reorder. Thanks
