  1. This would make it difficult for people who suffered terrible injury requiring millions for lifelong medical care. But, realistically, we are never going to see reform that will meaningfully reduce the ability of contingency fee lawyers to ply their trade.
  2. Interestingly enough, USPSA has a board member who is qualified to do exactly what you see in the video (Area 8).
  3. Brilliant. You can set up a store at www.cafepress.com and start selling these with zero up front cost.
  4. Vince, Take your ammo to the UPS hub in Concord off Solano Way. Vicky is the person to talk to. She ships all of my ammo to the matches with no problems. 1)Package it in ammo boxes of some kind ( mine are plastic), Put them in a cardboard box with that popcorn stuff to minimize movement. 2)Create a shipping label at their terminal. GROUND delivery ( i send it to the hotel). 3) Give it to Vicky and your good to go. When it get's to be time to ship them, we can go together. We'll probably be shipping Bagakis' also. You forgot that you need some ORM-D labels on the package. I have placed some at www.uspsa.org/shipping_ammo
  5. Not lately, but the UPS guy did park his truck on a box with a computer in it for me.... and UPS is still refusing to admit liability. If you were there when it happened, the proper course of action is to treat it as a traffic accident - insist for the driver's license and insurance information, and call the police to take a report. If the driver refuses to wait, file a hit and run complaint.
  6. This was EXPRESS MAIL which is guaranteed next day in certain delivery areas - which definitely includes my PO BOX. The PO tried to tell me it was because the address did not have my name - only Area 7/AWARE - but that does not explain why I have received hundreds of other mails thusly addressed without difficulty, or why a delivery problem like that would cause a TWO WEEK delay. The match applicant this happened to is a fed - maybe he has some buddies in the postal inspector's service who can figure it out .
  7. I hate getting an Express Mail overnight envelope with a match registration 15 days after it was mailed and 14 days after the post office's own scheduled delivery date.
  8. The first day's scores are up at www.uspsa.org in the Major Match Results area.
  9. One of the 1911oid copies (I think it might have been the Argentenian Ballister-Molina (sp) did something like this years ago). It's a great idea, but there is enough art that I doubt others have to worry about a utility patent.
  10. You'll really be on a roll if you're the third shooter in your squad on that stage.
  11. Does you bank have a photo of the miscreant? Also, your liability may be limited to $50 since it is undisputed that you did not give consent. The banks would like to have customers buy into the logic of "any use with your PIN is, by definition, agreed to be authorized use", however, it doesn't alway work that way when you look at the specific laws governing this sort of thing. Bank of America learned this the hard way when someone had $90K transferred out of their account via a hacked home computer (keystroke logger) and tried to hide behind "It was your PIN, so you agreed that the transaction is accepted as authorized.". BOA lost.
  12. Pete - STOP SCREWING WITH THIS. Send it back to JP. If it is possible to fix the situation without damage, JP can take care of it. If JP can't do it, it means it can't be done. Either way, you will get the best possible outcome. I had a screw seize when I mounted an ACOG directly to the CTR-02 upper. I stripped the head of the screw, trashed an allen wrench, and couldn't budge the screw. JP removed it without a trace of damage to the scope or rifle, and got it back to me very quickly.
  13. Ever see Chuck Bradly shoot a stage?
  14. Your government credentials give you that luxury, as the responding officers will go into "backup a fellow lawman" mode rather than "arrest the winner, send the loser to the hospital and let the courts sort it out" mode. Us civilians operate under a more restrictive set of rules.

EzWinScore 3.02 (mandatory update to 3.0 or 3.01 - it can be applied directly to either) is available at www.uspsa.org/ezwinscore. This includes the new HTML help. In case you're wondering about the frequency of updates: We have brought EzWinScore development in house, so we get much quicker turnaround time on changes and fixes to those annoying little bugs that we would previously just live with - just look at the "what's new" list with 3.02 and you'll see what I mean.
  16. I will be arriving at AWARE Saturday and shooting Sunday. If you would like an overview presented, convince the match director to book a meeting room at the match hotel and work out a time with me for Saturday evening.
  17. I hate it when I get match applications with the check stapled to the form. Don't people realize that someone has to open these and undo all those staples.
  18. True - using the current "workaround hack", however, I have a plan for adding multi-gun support into EzWinScore in a very nice user friendly way where you configure the allowed gun types into the stage profile, and the score entry screen wiill have a separate A/B/C/D boxes for rifle, pistol and shotgun (with the boxes for guns not in use on that stage either not visible or disabled). I don't want to encourage use of the "workaround hack" with Palm scoring, only to introduce "Native Mode" MultiGun scoring in EzWinScore, but still require a hack for Palm users. Once we have the MultiGun feature in EzWinScore, I'll have a chat with the folks down under about upgrading the Palm software. Not as sorry as I am .
  19. This talk is cancelled since circumstances require that I cancel my trip to the Missoula Nationals .
  20. I don't consider it a "win" when our side only manages to avoid having something taken away for now, but does not get anything. We got nothing from this deal other than a promise of the other side not to try to take more later. A true Win/Win situation was in Washington State a number of years ago were they got "brady style checks" (before the brady bill) and we got "non discretionary ccw". It's sort of like calling a mugging when the criminal lets you keep half your money as "win/win" - after all, he could have taken the other half as well so you got something you wanted - the ability to keep half. As a LE who deals with mental health, do you think there should be a procedure by which someone who is involuntarily committed can prove they are no longer unsuitable to own firearms? Do you think someone should lose their gun rights if the result of a short term committment for an exam is "no indication of mental illness found?"
  21. I had a Brown safety break in normal use once, which I suspect was the result of cast construction.
  22. This one thing the NRA could have fully addressed but didn't. Under current federal law, any involuntary commitment for mental health reasons makes one a prohibited person for life, with no procedure to get off that list. Even a short term involuntary commitment for evaluation that results in a medical finding of "no mental illness or defect" reduces someone to less than a full citizen for the rest of their life. The NRA had a perfect chance to negotiate for a procedure to deal with this but chose not to.
  23. Under my states law (MA) found property with a value of at least $3.00 (I think) must be turned in to the police who are required to return it to the person surrendering it provided it is not claimed within some time period (not sure, but it might be 90 days). Other states probably have similar procedures for the person finding abandoned property to file a claim, but good luck getting the police to follow such a law in the case of a gun. In any case, when you turn it in, insist on a police report confirming you are turning it in as "lost property" and intend to file such a claim, otherwise, it will probably be processed as a "voluntary surrender."
