  1. The spare mag alone is a $25-30 value. The holster is IDPA legal. You're better off with a drop and off-set (DOH) for USPSA where it is legal. The maglula is nice if you have girly thumbs... Jeff
  2. APW... Accurate Plating and Weaponry in Alabama. The finish is excellent. The CS was a little less then I'd hoped for. 3-4 weeks was quoted, 5-6 was delivered... $87+ shipping or there-abouts for the slide and extractor... Jeff
  3. If you are use to shooting a long-gun from the pocket of your shoulder, like a deer rifle, then full length is your position. The modern tactical technique being taught in Defensive/Offensive Carbine classes, has evolved to a squared up body position, with the butt of the stock planted in the middle of the strong-side pectoral, NOT in the pocket of the shoulder. This has evolved, since the war-fighters/SWAT guys employing/teaching it are looking to maximize the effectiveness of their body armor, and blading your body toward your enemy exposes the soft sides. Squared up, with a ballistic plate on your chest, nose to the charging handle, the stock will be fully (or close) collapsed. This position/technique has crossed over into 3-Gun/Practical Rifle, as adjustable stock use has grown in competition, and the full-size M16A2 style stock is disappearing. Most pistol shooters also shoot squared up, as "Weaver" is virtually gone too. The shoulders stay square to the target as the legs/hips swivel underneath. The two mirrored techniques lend well. If you watch the top shooters, IF they are running short carbine/M4-style stocks, they are more squared up. If they are running traditional A1/A2 style solid stocks, they tend to be more bladed, and in the pocket. All the young shooters with sand-box experience, and AMU guys, I imagine are shooting from the Pec, and squared up... I'll go watch my YouTube videos... Kurt shoots from the shoulder pocket. Daniel (AMU product) shoots from closer to his sternum, and more square... shorter stock. Jeff
  4. A 22LR is "enough" for self defense... But if you're going to carry, in the same size/weight category, I choose a 13 round sub-compact 9mm, over a 5 round 38. My S&W M&P9C is not so much bigger/heavier than a 38 snubby that I won't carry it. If I MUST go smaller, I'll still choose 8 rounds of .380 in my Kel-Tec over 5 in a 38... The snubby is sufficient, but in my opinion, not "optimal". Jeff
  5. If they DO get it right, AND AT THE RIGHT PRICE... they'll sell a truck load of them. Jeff
  6. M&P Pro or 9L: Grip angle of every other gun (except Glock, the odd-ball) Variable Grip Size, and best ergos in a handgun Excellent trigger options available Excellent selection of sights available. 5" Pro or L sight radius Excellent Customer Support from S&W Excellent accessories now, holsters, etc. American Made, and S&W actively supports action shooting sports! Low bore axis, and minimal pre-cocking of the striker. (DA/SA guns sit higher in the hand and flip more) Buy the M&P Pro, and go play! Modify it as you go along and as budget allows. Jeff
  7. I got tired of all the pretty chromed Limited guns making my M&P look boring and flat black... Why not BLING out my Production Gun! I get to dirty it up tonight! JeffWard

    Entabultar

I'll wait to buy mine after the price drops below $600,000,000. You're crazy if you buy from the first run. You'll just have to send it back anyway for recalibration of the dingle arm... I bet Benny Hill could build one cheaper NOW anyway. Jeff
  9. 1) Spray-N-Prey.. You're a cold heartless bastard... Love it. 2) This thread never gets old... Jeff
  10. I'm subscribing to this thread... Thanks for the info! Jeff
  11. I assume I need a +4 extension? Jeff
  12. I'm ready to make a move on a Mossberg 930 after reading Benny's posts. Found one at Buds for under $450, but it's the 24" version, which has ports too far back. Which version do I have to buy to start? What's the best price out there? What NEEDS to be done for it to run? PS... I'm buying a Mossy due to budget, and that I only occasionally shoot 3-Gun. Minimal $ mods please!!! Jeff

    TSA Agents

Now THAT THERE is funny... I don't care WHO you are... Jeff

    TSA Agents

I'd guess she was put up to it, and has the IQ of a mannequin... I've got my speedo ready next time I fly!!! Or I'll just ask for a female agent to pat me down... The cute one... Jeff
  15. I ran Limited Minor for a while... loading 22+1 in my M&P Pro 9mm. The good shooters NOTICED, and asked how the hell I shot sections or whole stages without a reload... Once I mentioned Limited MINOR, they figured it out. Jeff
  16. Same here... And I've gotten 2-3 out shooting regularly. I have nothing to hide a competitive shooter. If you fear guns, you're just f-ing nuts, so I don't bother trying to "change you". A grown man with a gun is 1000 times safer than a 16 yr old with car keys... I think other people are crazy for letting their kids drive. Call me crazy... Jeff
  17. I run a JP... But it's my first aftermarket trigger... That said, it is a WORLD apart from the DPMS stock. Mine is a DPMS gun. Jeff
  18. I run 1.5-1.7 on small poppers at 35 yards. B-Class Production, with an M&P Pro. Jeff
  19. I choose factory... Shoots great (good enough) groups. I might swap out for a Storm Lake in a year??? 30,000 rounds? Jeff
  20. Model 1 Sales sells a number of lightweight 11.5" barrels with permanent 5.5" flash-hiders. DPMS has them on sale NOW for $127!!! Carbon Fiber Free-float-guard from DPMS. Standard AR grip for small hands. Simple collapsible stock for short reach. That would be a light combo! Jeff
  21. Lift weights, mostly free-weights, for 20 years! I dead-lift 315lbs pretty regularly, without wraps... Lat pulldowns, curls, high rows, shrugs... Not only build your grip, but the rest of your back musculature too! No grip pressure issue here... JeffWard
  22. I got lazy and cheap... Mixed leftover long grain brown rice, and corn cob. Shinyest brass ever!!! And easy to get the media out of the cases! My rice is dark green now, bur my brass is gorgeous after a few hrs... Jeff
  23. DPMS gets trashed by the M4Carbine forum guys because they don't stake everything 4 times and chrome line everything, etc. There's a good number of "If it ain't a Colt/DD/LMT, it ain't sh__" folks over there. The truth is, there's LOTS of shooters shooting DPMS gear as GAMING guns, that will never see the brutal environment of combat. Gaming guns are run for a few hours, then meticulously cleaned, then put in a climate controlled safe. That said, they shoot VERY reliably, VERY accurately, and at a great price. DPMS supports competition shooting as well or better than any manufacturer, and they even have an upper/gun built specifically for our sport (Panther 3G-1). Your lower is built of excellent components... But if you slapped on a DPMS 3G-1 upper, and headed for a Multigun match with it, you'll be happy as a ____________. Or you can build away from components. I'm biased... since I bought a $700 DPMS Sporticle almost a year ago. It now wears a JP Trigger, free-float guard, Magpul furniture, EoTec, and a Miculek comp... But the upper, lower, barrel, BCG, buffer etc... are all DPMS. It has run 2000+ flawless rounds, including steel cased Russian crap, and it shoots good ammo inside 1 MOA... And I won my Defensive Carbine Match last week against 25 other shooters... YRMV Jeff
  24. +1 I do this a lot. I try to build stages that will have multiple options, for multiple divisions, and different abilities of shooters. Then after building it, I see where I made it really hard for Production Div shooters... and I shoot Production! Jeff
