I doubt you care at this point but that is an RMI you are saying is wrong. And, I shot with the guy I mentioned. He no longer shoots. But he clearly asked about pulling the trigger with a mag in the gun. Since you are hung up on this, give this some thought. You drop your mag, see a target and shoot it, then insert mag, rack slide and continue on. You just put your finger inside Trigger Guard during reload. Hopefully that clarifies that the Reloading process can indeed be interrupted.

Try the pole dancer stuff. No residue and super sticky. But it stays sticky for quite awhile though. You can also go old school with stickem or even deodorants will work

In my mind, unless you are LEO running duty gear, you are doing it wrong if shooting USPSA with a retention rig. All this hubbub over something we rarely see and there is an effective rule to address it.

I have known guys who do that. While I personally always thought it was dumb because I would inevitably launch a round, I never thought it to be against the rules. There was clarification from DNROI that it was permitted. It was mentioned on here probably 5 years ago or more. Also, it is not prohibited in 8.7 where sight pics are addressed.

If you are in that wet of an environment I would just buy a sheet of coroplast from home depot($23)and paint it brown. Trace out some metric targets and practice.

Yes the rule was quoted. But it amazes me how several folks still thought it was ok to flip off safe as soon as they touch the gun. If the gun is still holstered and flip safety off that’s a DQ without question. It’s pretty hard to catch though as things happen so fast. The one case I saw was a guy drawing and holster was left locked. He grabbed gun and flipped off safety and gun never left holster. He was DQed when RO noticed safety off while trying to draw.

Agreed. And I have had brand new RO’s tell us if they screw something up to please speak up. The seasoned RO’s here will all frown upon any stop calls made by the peanut gallery pertaining to the shooter on the COF.

You quoted my comment about a dropped gun. A competitor can’t pick up a dropped gun. That’s a DQ . An RO working the match must pick up a dropped gun or supervise it being picked up. And I think it’s pretty clear what an RO is. It’s been shown in the rules by 7.3.2 .

To me there is a difference in an RO (probably new) seeing a shooter point a gun at the squad and not taking action and an RO not catching a 181 on a run. And you and I both know an RO at a local can DQ a shooter.... I see it like this. At major matches staff are still competitors. They shot the match already typically but are still listed in the results etc. By your logic they couldn’t DQ a shooter either. At local we obviously don’t do that so we have to figure out how say the RO is not a competitor while running shooters.

I’m sure it doesn’t. But go to nationals and pick up a dropped gun and see who is right. Or even come to my match and do it. I’ll turn it over to the RM. maybe you’ll get a softy that will let it fly.

I shoot 4-5 locals and they all have a designated RO Per squad. We are very RO heavy in my Section. The vast majority of shooters around here are certified. We literally never have an uncertified guy run shooters. Big difference between a perceived 180 break and pointing a gun at shooters.

You IDPA guys......? unless it’s the guys first USPSA match I just say make ready on uprange starts. Most guys I shoot with want to turn and draw a time or two before shooting the stage.
