  1. Friends don't encourage friends to mooch, they encourage them to buy a spare parts kit to have at home handy so as not to get a phone call at 10:30pm the night before a friend is to get up at 5am to pick said friend up to drive to a match 3 hours out of town. Unfortunately... been there, done that...
  2. I don't have another tip. But I can run a cleaning patch through the tube & see if that helps any. Another good reason to have a Dillon spare parts kit for the machine you own. Dillon yes will replace the parts. but if you don't have it handy that Friday night you are loading your match rounds before the big match next morning. You are hosed.
  3. yup it's in the notch. Just replace the magazine tube tip, good chance to give the tube a clean anyways. Make sure the tube is in the notch and the knurled nut only barely finger tight when you pit it back together.
  4. Why? Isn't it the job of the sizing die to set the neck diameter for proper neck tension to retain the bullet at the selected seating depth? I hear this all the time on other forums, how this is a designed flaw with dillon equipment. That doing so makes a loaded round more suseptable to bullet setback. Disclaimer; I just would like to know why it is like this. I love my Dillon equipment
  5. XL650 with casefeeder dedicated to 9mm SDB for .45 ACP and .380 Auto
  6. Classic.... kinda sounds like here at my work
  7. Pure, 100%, waste of money. I don't have to chamber check anymore and I never have a case not seat due to bulge or extended bottom dimensions. Neither have I... you just have to adjust your normal dies correctly. I've never had issues with so called "Glocked" brass in any of the machines or dies I have used to load 9mm or .40 for my Glock's whether using stock, Lone Wolf or KKM barrels. that includes the SDB I loaded thousands of 9mm and .40 on as well. I adjust my shellplate up as high as possible, tighten with all stations loaded. I use a piece of paper to ensure it is clear of the dies body and no binding on the die bottom.
  8. Try Harbor frieght tools.... they make a clone set of snap ring pliers that are just like the snapon/mac one for less than $20. While I don't endorse them to be just as good, for this application definately cheaper and will work.
  9. My fix was as in this thread http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=115646 Fixed the issue right out of the gate. No alteration of the shellplate.
  10. Just depends on the amount of brass you are cleaning. I half fill my tumbler with corncob media and polish let it run 10 minutes to mix. I then add 600-800 cases. Turn it on and watch the movenent. I add additional media as needed to quiet down the noise yet sustain the movement of the brass, lastly I throw in a cut up dryer sheet (used) and close the lid. Set the timer and in 2-3 hours, it's shiny as new.
  11. I say 650 right off the bat being your loading 9mm at the 750-1000 rate. You can bet that will increase almost immediately to 1500. Later down the line decide if a conversion would be in order for a second caliber in LPP or just get a 550 to load the calibers you don't shoot as often. I load on a XL650 with casefeeder for 9mm only, use a SDB for .45ACP and .380 Auto right now. I'll eventually get a 550 too for LPP and oddball calibers. Use the 650 for 9mm, .223 and .380 Auto
  12. If you were to by a XL650 right now... in the grand scheme of things the casefeeder with the needed shellplate is an extra $212.95!!! The new Blue press is out, price increases are on the way... plus if you order the casefeeder with a press you get the whole thing shipped FREE. I agree... XL650 without a case feeder... just silly.

  14. The last time I ordered from MG. It was a case, 3750 rounds of 124g CMJ, the total price was indeed $300, $295 for the case price plus $5 residential delivery. That was less than 6 months ago. I normally order 124g FMJ from Precision Delta, put a group buy together with a couple of guys for 10K, you then get the maximum discount price at $70 a K and they indeed ship USPS flat rate 2K in each box. (PD site is dated 2008)
  15. The extra upcharge is standard dictated by parcel delvery companies. UPS always charges more for residential than business deliveries so does Fedex and DHL.
  16. Don't have a 550B... loaded 12K on my SDB in 9mm the last year, with a about a 3-4 month layoff for some personal matters... upgraded to a XL650 casefed for 9mm just recently as the current 2K a month requirements were keeping me too tied to the bench.
  17. I really need to get one of those .380 plates for my shell sorter set.
  18. I've used TG and a couple of others but this one is absolutely the best: 100g Berry's RN plated backed with 3.2g HP-38 at .980 OAL. Burns very clean and very accurate out of my P3AT.
  19. It comes bagged then boxed directly from Grainger supply (actually cheaper through Drillspot! I ordered it twice, the last time it came in 2 days from the time I ordered from Drillspot. It's good stuff. You can order the RCBS powdered polish from Cabelas too ($6 for 3-4 sachlets)add to it and it's the same as the treated Lyman stuff.
  20. I never understood this policy that people have. The Dillon warranty is no BS and legendary. I tell guys all the time spend the money on the spare parts kit for your press... if something happens and you use the part Dillon will replace it. It saves so much frustration and downtime.... They cheap out and say it's free why should I pay for it?! Them they whine when the press goes down on Friday night before a match and can't load till the part arrives 2 days after they call Monday morning. I had one guy call me to borrow a part from one of my presses spares kits. I flat refused to lend it to him telling him "If you want the part pay up and buy the entire kit from me" I hung up the phone an hour later he reluctantly agreed. LOL... I made him purchase the kit online, as I watched, shipped to me.... them gave him the parts kit. It was a lesson hard learned for him but several weeks later at a match he came up to me and told me he had another issue with his press and having the parts kit saved his butt again.
  21. Boxerglocker, And your .40/10mm and .38/.357 setups are feeling right at home down here in Arkansas now. ST Did you buy an LCR to go with the .38/.357 dies yet?
  22. Can you tell me if the Dillon scale can be used while its in the optional cover, including with the AC connection? Thanks/John Not as is... I have meant to drill a hole in the back of mine to do so but haven't gotten around to it.
  23. It's a good scale... the Ohaus, Lyman and RCBS offerings are all good too. I prefer a digital, use the Dillon E-Terminator but have a beam as a back-up.
  24. No, it's just to set up the correct travel. Once set-up it will be travel limited by the adjustment screws.
