  1. Congratulations on the new blaster. I really like both my STIs and have a blast driving them because they have power steering and power brakes. What kind of shooting do you do? Bill
  2. I had a ball and my trusty Trubor ran flawlessly all day which helped me to win overall "C". I have had a tremendous amount of fun shooting with this bunch of people and they all help me a lot. Thanks everyone Bill
  3. Betterment, I managed to get all my vehicles repaired and feel much better now. Install a new door handle and be glad you don't have a gazillion payments left. We can all shoot more without another car payment. Have a great Christmas and a super new year. Bill
  4. As long as you drop it in a forward gear nothing spectacular will happen. If you hit reverse...well, my uncle tried that and it didn't turn out so well for his tranny. Bill
  5. I am amazed by how many of us already own ours. Someone once said "happiness is wanting what you have" and I guess many of us have already found it. Bill
  6. This may be lame, but for now it is the Trubor I am already shooting. I have more fun pulling the trigger on this than anything else I have ever shot. A supply of ammo would be great though. My son tells me I would really like a M2 50 cal a bunch. Bill

    The Fish

I really hate to see you not having fun in open. I have been having so much fun with my open gun that I don't want to shoot anything else. I can almost see the dot when the shot breaks sometimes. Bill
  8. 2008 Charger is in the shop. 1999 Explorer needs both head gaskets. 1998 Jeep just quit on my wife. The only thing on the place that is running right now is my daughter's 1985 Dodge truck and I put an alternator on it Tuesday. I feel your pain. Do I sound like I am whining? Oh well, I will repair something tomorrow so I can get to the match on Saturday and that will make it all better!!! Good luck with your car. Bill
  9. I am happy with my Lee presses and have three Pro 1000s. When I started reloading I set myself up with the following: Press-of course Brass tumbler Media separator Digital scale Digital caliper Chronograph Chamber gauge Lee factory crimp dies assure reliability in semi-autos You can "get by" without some of this stuff, but you will want it at some point if you are going to produce quality ammo and know what it is doing in your gun. The cost of the press is not as much as the rest of the stuff you will need. Then you can start looking for: Bullets Powder Primers Brass I hope this does not discourage or overwhelm you. I have to reload in order to shoot as much as I do and in order to shoot major 9. Good luck Bill

    My New Job

Yeah twice...alcohol was involved both times.
  11. This is going to be my first big match. I think I am going to need more mags! Bill
  12. If you are going to reload... Get a chrono! It is the only way to know what is going on in 'YOUR" gun. Bill
  13. The last one was a "hot wheels" and my son still has it and he is 24 now. Bill
  14. Here I go bragging about my son. He called me from Iraq and told me he is ok. HUH? Seems he was posted by an armored vehicle when he was hit by splatter from incoming rounds. He dove under the vehicle and returned fire. All the Americans returned to base. My IDPA club started carbine matches after my son joined the Air Force even though running a carbine is not his job. Because of the game, he learned to operate his "sporting firearm" well and get in and out of shooting positions rapidly. I love to poke holes in cardboard and for me it is just a game, but if the game helps my son come home then it is a truly worthwhile game. Just my thought. Bill
  15. You have to find what fits you! I have an EXCELLENT XD with a trigger that Rich did. When I hold that gun it feels perfect. The problem is, I can't shoot it worth a crap. I love it and won't sell it, I just cannot seem to drive it. I don't like the way my STI feels in my hand, but I run it much better. I think the XD is a viable choice and with a little tuning it can be outstanding in the right hand. I just wish it could be my hand. just my .02 Bill
  16. Gee, I haven't had the opportunity to deal with them on either of my STIs. I must need to shoot a lot more to find a problem area. . Bill
  17. I am a "C" class shooter so there are a lot of people much more qualified than I am, but I have had great results with 9mm. I bought a Trubor and have just run the dog out of it with STI mags. This gun has run everything from my IDPA moly loads that are really soft to 175 power factor loads without so much as a spring change. I'm just not sharp enough to realize I can't do that. I didn't want to be like the guys I see chasing a shooter through a stage and trying to catch their super brass in the air! I can usually bring more 9mm brass home than I used because a lot of production shooters don't pick up brass. I hope whatever you decide works for you as well as mine has worked for me. Open is a blast!!! Bill
  18. I eagerly await each issue of Igloo Attire. I just can't help myself. Bill
  19. This shows, what I feel, is one of the greatest virtues of the 2011 platform. It lends itself to customization. I can have what I want if I am willing to spend the money on it. I am really happy with my stock 2011s, but might want to try one of these grips at some point and am thankful SVI put the effort and money into the project. If people did not embrace the development of firearms improvement, then we would be running courses of fire with muzzle loaders. Getting down from my soapbox now. Bill
  20. Excellent match Carina!! I got to watch Catfish run that open blaster, and he sure must like to follow the bouncing dot. Bill
  21. I seem to be VERY lucky that way. My guns just run and it's okay because I create enough challenges without gun problems. My Trubor 9mm has been the same. Bill
  22. I bought my Eagle in 9mm because I always shot steel or IDPA. I have now started having fun in USPSA matches and the 9mm is a HUGE handicap so I HAD to buy a Trubor to shoot major. The 40 is more versatile and will probably bring more if you ever want to sell it. My 9mm runs with anything I stuff in the mags so function shouldn't be an issue. Just my .02 YMMV Bill
  23. I can find my way back Gary...I just head for the laughter. You must control the turmoil in your world... this match looks fun. Bill
