  1. James, I am seeing this from the other side. Before you left, you would smoke me with a wrist rocket and a bag of marbles. Now when I watch you shoot a stage I wonder if the aliens will bring James back. I know that with a little practice we will see you reemerge as an incredibly phast trigger puller. If you end up spending some time up in my area, lets go out and play for a while. There is no doubt in my mind that you will be back in form in no time at all. Remember to have fun. Bill
  2. Congratulations!!! You have evidently raised an exceptional young man. Thank you, and please thank him for keeping our world safe. Bill
  3. Welcome to the dark side!!! It took me the better part of a year to learn to shoot open well. Some think we are still waiting for that to happen. You will learn to love your open blaster and won't want to shoot anything else. Do a search for Matt Burkett's timing drills on the forum, and they will help you get together with the gun. Don't switch back and forth. Commit to open and learn the blaster completely and you will be amazed at what you can accomplish. Good luck and have fun. Bill
  4. Thank ya'll for your thoughts and support. We get to hear from him more often than most parents do because he has ready access to phones. He loves his job and wants to deal with things over there instead of at home.
  5. I got a father's day call from my son in Afghanistan today. He didn't call yesterday because he was a little busy. He and his team have rendered safe 107 IEDs in the last two weeks. This has got to make the Taliban really mad, and I love it. I just had to share. Bill
  6. Welcome to the deep end of the pool. Many enter some leave!!! I just fell in.
  7. Another vote for Canyon Creek. You get a great trigger on an XD.
  8. What he said. Don't fight it because mine works perfect. If you have problems, get help to correct them, and this tool will make your world a better place.
  9. In the series, the guys could blow up half the world and shoot 1000 rounds, and nobody got hurt. I am afraid the movie won't be the same, but I have to see it anyway. Count me in.
  10. I did not intend to cause grief in this thread, but I am a gamer, because it is a game. Most of the people commenting are my friends and I know there is no hurtful intent. I will almost always opt for a slide lock reload if given a choice. There are too many steps in a RWR, and this leads to it not being as reliable as a slide lock reload. Also, if you are reloading while moving behind cover, then you are not moving as fast or hitting your mark at the edge of cover as precisely. This can often lead to a COVER call, ask me how I know. If you are properly using cover, you don't need to move to do your reload, so you are indexed on the target when your reload is complete. If you keep the gun up in front of your face, then you minimize the time needed to reaquire your sight picture. Most everyone in your division will be doing the same thing, so know your strengths and depend on those strengths. I hope you find the correct answer for you. Bill
  11. I use 38 super followers in all my 9mm mags and don't mess with the spacers. You cannot beat Brazos for service. Just order 126mm, 38 super mags and enjoy.
  12. Nobody else will say it, so I will. You are bound to need a makeup shot before you get to the point to reload. Manage your ammo. Do a really fast slide lock reload and reengage the target because it is consistently faster.
  13. I really enjoyed this match and the stages. Every RO that ran me did an excellent job. The 50 yard was my second best stage even though I had a 5 second malfunction. I think most everyone was challenged by one of the stages that were presented and everyone had one that went very well. I really enjoyed the field of steel and love to hear bang, bang, bang, DING!!! Bill
  14. What he said. Everything else depends on the particular pistol and load. My 9mm runs and I am very happy with it. Bill
