  1. sorry, but it has been a long time since I signed on and checked my messages...Errol lives in Belle Glade...but I have to check on where I put his number...what is your name and number and when I find his contact info...I'll have him give you a call...no finer gunsmith and person that I have ever dealt with

  2. I just sent my design in and am waiting for some feedback. I went with the aluminum grip, but will consider the stainless after seeing these comments. I prefer a heavier gun, so that should work. I do wish that SVI make sure that all the options have descriptions and that when you pick one option, it eliminates others that are not compatible. I made the same picks on sights.....100 red fiber with bomar style rear. Now I am considering leaving off the magwell to install a dawson ice. Great suggestion on leaving it blued....another change I will make.
  3. I guess around here revolver is the lowest...but as far as semi-autos...least seen is open. Limited and production are the most popular.

    My new SV

Nice pistol...I have an SV five inch and am looking to add a 6" to my collection. Enjoy it and have a great season...
  5. without a doubt, Errol Lawson in Belle Glade, Florida...works of art that shoot every time you pull the trigger
  6. Great post. Believe it or not, removing headgear during the anthem is a federal law (only for men). That law has recently been changed to allow veterans to render the hand salute in civilian clothes. I do disagree with one thing though....as far as athletes, if they train for decades and represent our country in international games I have no problem with them running around with a flag. Of course that is just my opinion.
  7. good, that gives me an excuse not to shoot L10...never made much sense to me anyway
  8. Jack So let me get this straight...I can come and get my SS, production, and L10 classifications taken care of for the small cost of $45??? This might warrant a road trip big time.
  9. funny you mention this topic.... I just got back from the range and my disconnector would not reset causing the hammer to stay locked back with no way of getting it forward. I attribute it to the sear spring coming out of alignment when I recently stripped the frame.
  10. It sounds like everything was done correctly. Sorry about the stage, but it is a great lesson learned. Nice job keeping your cool and handling the gun safely while showing everyone your athletic prowess in arctic conditions.
  11. You got to love the value of 22 practice. I spent the day yesterday working out the kinks in my marvel conversion kit. Ran a couple of hundred rounds through it and was able to work on quite a few drills. Finished off with some full power loads and called it a day.
  12. That reminds me of the old Brown maxi-well that required machining the frame and silver soldering it in place. If done right, it is a work of art.
  13. I got the real thing from "cheaper than dirt" for not much more. I still remember Chip shooting steel fairly well back in the 80's. I have no problem supporting him.....
  14. Thanks for posting. I just emailed my application...we'll see how it works out.
  15. what I have found with stainless is scratching initially, then moving on to become shiny spots....
  16. my 771's give me no reason to replace them....they work, and any additional advantage over them will not be gained by equipment, but by training
  17. I just picked up three more...but will add to that. At some point, enough is enough though. I have 5-40 and 6-38...
  18. I recently mounted a marvel conversion kit on my open gun. For the first time, the hammer is following, and today...the gun doubled twice. I have never had a problem with this pistol, but now I am lucky if I get one out of ten rounds that end up with a fully cocked hammer. I checked the kit, and it cannot eject a round without the slide moving enough so as to fully cock the hammer. In other words, no way it is short stroking. I am also getting decent ejection so no reason to believe the slide is not travelling all the way to the rear. Any ideas???
  19. SS will make you run through more scenarios in your pre-stage mental prep, and will teach you to adapt on the move when things don't go your way. We did it that way for many years when the closest you could get to hi-cap was a 10-shot super. I remember thinking how easy it was for those "super boys" to have so many rounds to play with....but I digress.
  20. I am just getting started with a Marvel unit on my limited and open guns. For the open gun, I use their dovetailed top end, and for limited, I screw on the top end with a bomar-like rear and an FO front. When I get my single stack back, I plan on buying some mags for that set up as well. I would build a dedicated pistol, but as just a top end. I get to use it with all my division pistols and changing it out takes no time at all.
  21. I have always found that shooting a narrower front sight gave me more accuracy and speed for IPSC. When shooting more accuracy based games, I find a wider sight is more precise provided I have time to line the shot up, a la bullseye.
  22. I've had mine for more than a decade now and I can't find a thing wrong with it. Keep it clean, keep it cranking and enjoy.
