I've got a few miles in on a5's. What's the problem?

Okay, shot the first match Sat with the new Burris. So far, So good. The sight worked wonderfully. I still have a little bit of starburst around the dot due to my astigmatism, but with the smaller dot, the starburst is smaller, so its manageable. I had my gun puke on the barricade so my score was off a bit, but overall I'm happy with the sight. Will post updates on how its holding up down the road. Ed

Another great way is light bulbs. Run a standard lamp type screw socket into the safe and put in a 25 watt incandescent. The heat it puts off keeps my safes under 60% as long as the door isn't open and closed all the time. Been doing this for nearly 20 years with no problems whatsoever. Use the long life bulbs designed for appliances. Last over a year. The light inside is another bonus too.

Aimpoint makes great products. I am in no way knocking them. I just cant justify the cost when there are other sights that will do the same job for less money. I came real close to ordering the PRO to keep the same profile and mount as my old CompXD. Battery life is great but at $416.00 I could not justify it. I DO have other hobbies that need feeding! My Hydra Sports is missing me, and she's thirsty! 2 mpg at cruise.

Tooth- since the tube length is almost the same as the aimpoint and the aimpoint tube steps down to 30mm then back up, sight thru appears to be nearly identical. The burris tube is 35mm from end to end There is no appreciable tunnel effect, no more than the aimpoint anyway. The dot may actually be closer to 5 min, although my astigmatism may be a contributing factor to that. I drew a 1.5" circle on a uspsa tombstone to sight in with. At 25 yds, the dot covers most of the circle I drew which would equate to 5-6 moa. Remember I do get a little starburst effect of the dot which may account for the size appearing larger than it is. All in all it seems like it will work perfectly for the job at hand. Time will tell. Have abt 3 wks before next match to wring it out.

Got the burris mounted and zeroed yesterday. Everything seems ok for now. Shooting nice tiny groups at 25. Didn't get a chance to check my 50 zero. Storm blew in. Like I said earlier, it seems like a well built sight, dot is pretty sharp. Only thing I don't like is the blue tint of the glass. Looks just like the cheap eBay Cmore knockoff I put on my sons 22 mk1. Wish burris had a different coating or whatever it is. Guess I'll get used to that.

Russell they have it hiding in the AR sights. Here's a link http://burrisoptics.com/speeddot.html I too have bad astigmatism. Like a 4 cylinder. Regardless of the sight I use I get a bit of grape cluster effect which is why I went to a smaller dot. Smaller dot=smaller clusters.

Got the Burris in. Looks like a well built sight. Nice sharp dot. Not as bright on high as the aimpoint but looks plenty bright still. The lenses have a bit of a blue hue but not too bad. Will post some pics and review after mounting it and zeroing.

Have one loading 38sc almost exclusively. Runs perfect. Hiccups a little with 9mms. Doesn't like 223. Runs good with 40 but damn near perfect with the 38 supers.

Yeah it's cancelled. Got email from Dave yesterday. Least it'll give me a month to play with it before shooting a match. I'll post my review on it in a week or so. Have high hopes but we'll see.

Thanks Kevin. That's what I was wanting to hear. Gonna order one today. Maybe I can get it here, mounted and zeroed by fri. Shooting a match sat and we'll see how it goes.

Anybody used the burris speed dot 135? I know Bruce used one a few years back. Don't know how it held up.

Borrow someone's 17 slide. Put your barrel in it and shoot it. See what it does. Process of elimination.

One possibility is having the mortise milled to accept the large tenon front site. It won't come off. There ate some decent rear sights that fit the fact dovetail. Not as nice looking as a lo mount but functional.

Warren, I've looked at that matchdot ii heavily today. Just can't pull the trigger on the smaller tube. Wish I could mount one and test drive it before buying one then regretting it. Anybody got a spare or old one they'd loan?

Agreed DW- My dot in my old Aimpoint looks like cluster of grapes. I thought it was my astigmatism. Have a buddy with CompM4 on his AR, dot looks alot better than mine. Hoping the C3 or PRO have crisper dot. I played with a Match Dot on a Volq/ruger MKIII abt 2 weeks ago. Dot looked great. Felt like the small tube might give me fits.

OK. I feel like it's time for a new sight. Running a old blue Aimpoint Comp now with the big dot, 10moa I think. The dot size is just too big so I'm looking for a new sight with a smaller dot. Prob 2 or 3 moa. I've looked at the Aimpoint PRO and Comp C3. They look like the same sight to me, for all practical purposes. Have considered the Pride Fowler and the Ultradot. Never used the Pride. I remember Kevin telling me he had probs with it holding zero or something. Played with a Ultradot, don't really like the small tube. Looked at the Burris SpeedDot 135. Has 35mm tube. Anybody have any experience with it? Others to consider? I'm leaning toward one of the Aimpoints right now but wanted to hear from yall. Thanks Ed

Doug that was my thinking exactly. Ive been using zero jhp's for a little over a year. Even use Dillon lube in my comp with them just to make cleaning easier. Thought if the BBI's were at least as accurate they'd be a much cheaper practice round, maybe even match round, and a lot easier to get than zeros. I see my supply of zeros dwindling down while I've got these black bullets that I could be burning up.

Was wondering if Anybody has tried any coated bullets for accuracy? I just got a sample of 125gn LRN BBI's from Chandler. No grease groove and coated with the hytek coating. Cast has always been accurate for me but don't want the fouling in my alum comp. some of the uspsa guys shooting these things in 9maj w no comp fouling.

Right on rtp. Some are gonna hate on the lnl. Some are gonna hate on Dillon. Those that are hating have probably never pulled a handle o the opposite color. I have owned 9 different presses from 4 makers. I feel my lock n loads are the best of all those designs I've personally tried including big blue. That's my opinion. We all have them. Hell if you want to load with those lee hammer die sets, by all means go for it. It just ain't for me.
