  1. Buy my wood handle qtips at a local pharmacy. Fraction of the price of "wood handled gun cleaning swab". Something like a buck fifty for 50
  2. Fords gun refinishing in fl. Go to their website and take a look at customers pics.
  3. Take a look at the STI Guardian before you make a final decision. 3.9" bbl is almost a commander but longer than an officer but has the shorter frame of the officer. Mine has been 100% reliable with handloads and factory, accurate, and carries very well. Bought on GB for around $900 nib.
  4. Have an old p14 frame with a Springfield slide 38 super optic bianchi gun. Awesomely reliable. Never ever malfunctioned in thousands of rounds unless I did something to cause a problem like not priming a case or not dumping powder under a bullet. The gun itself with a little slide glide will run boringly reliable.
  5. 2 of my 5 factory followers did the exact same thing. Replaced all 5 w Grams springs/followers. No more probs
  6. So I'm working up a load for the above. Started at 5.3 grs at 1.18 oal. Velocity about 840. Keep on bumping powder up. Finally making major at 6.0 grains with flat primers and firing pin flow. I didn't figure there would be that much diff between 165 and 180's. guess I'm gonna have to change powders and try something else. Maybe WST or Silhouette? Any suggestions or advice welcome.
  7. Sorry, small. If you need large, let me know and I'll get it for you
  8. So I'm cutting a Novak dovetail on a stainless Springfield 1911 and it is hard as hell. Running hss end mill to hog out before cutting the dovetail. Spindle speed 550, feeding slow and pouring the oil to it. I finally got it cut but thought I'd surely bust the end mill before I got thru. I do have a carbide dtail Cutter for the dtail. Any recommendations on the next one I come across from machinists who know more than I do ( which would be about all of them). Thanks, Ed
  9. Been wanting to read this for years. Just checked eBay. Cheapest one was 149 bucks! WTH? Anybody got one they'll loan me? I'll pay postage and guarantee it to be in the same condition when you get it back. Thanks Ed Robinson
  10. Larry, I wish I had a nickel for every dollar I've spent at Brownells since 1994! Thanks for the offer of replacing the tips but I keep a bag of tips on my bench for easy replacement. Besides, y'all didn't break it, I did. Don't expect a mfr to replace something I abused in the first place. Brownells is an excellent supplier and supporter of the shooting community. We appreciate that. One thing though ..... Will y'all please quit rearranging the catalog every year? By the time I get used to finding something, I get a new catalog and it's somewhere else. But seriously, the bad reviews on these punches are probably from improper use. They are 5 stars in my opinion. I have recommended them multiple times to othes.
  11. Ive been using the replaceable tip brownells punches for probably 15 years. I think theyre great. I have bent and broker so many standard punches (Starrett, WalMart, Home Depot, Craftsman, etc) over the years. The replacement tip punch tips are hard and a little brittle but you can replace them cheaply and easily. The 3 sizes are really common sizes used on guns. Most sets you buy from retailers have only 1 or 2 that are even usable on gun sized pins

  16. I liked my first LnL so much, I bought a second! I grew up loading on a Rock Chucker and eventually added a second RockChucker. My wife bought me the progressive piggyback for the RCBS about 15 years ago and it loaded aLOT of rounds in that time, although it really did take constant tweaking and homemade fixes to keep it running. Anybody who ever spent much time on the piggyback or Ammomaster from the early 90's can tell you a LnL or 550 with a hiccup is hands down easier to deal with> I sold the piggyback to some poor unsuspecting friend of mine and bought a LnL. Fell in love with it and bought another after about a year. Added case feeders and aside from the few hiccups and adjustments from time to time, they have been awesome machines. BTW- after the 1st LnL, I added a 550 to the mix. It stayed on my bench approximately 2 hours after setup. Back in the box and away it goes. I was not satisfied with it at all. To be fair, I have never pulled the handle on a 650 but the 550 doea not hold a candle to the LnL in my opinion.
  17. Dream theater- the mirror. Great before shooting
  18. Buddy has a son in USAF station in Tucson AZ. He wants to ship his 3 guns from Ga to AZ for him to have there but we dont know anybody out there. Need some names/numbers of dealers you would trust handling a transfer for him. Thanks.
  19. Never seen these. Where did you buy? Looks like the Pal filler sorta
  20. If your dot looks like a cluster of grapes, you have astigmatism my friend. I've had it for 30 years and even corrected with contacts I still get the cluster effect in all my dot sights, Cmore , aimpoint, and Jpoint. Check with your eye doc again. You can be astigmatic and still have great vision
