  1. Never had nay kind of extraction or ejection problem, only this nose down feeding prob. Who can do the mag tuning? I understand H Smith is several months backlogged. Anyone else offer tuning? Smith does Dawsons I think.
  2. The gun shoots too darn good when it's running to get rid of! I'm tempted to try a MecGar just to see if it does any difference. If not I'm only out 18 bucks.
  3. I had the problem occasionally and thought it was springs and/or followers so I replaced them and still have the problem. Weird thing is I have a big stick of unknown make (guy I bought the gun from already had it) that works perfectly! All four of my short mags (para factory) jam like this on occasion but only when loaded with more than 10 or so rounds loaded. Weird problem I just thought the semi rim may be causing (or adding to) the problem. What does it take to make a S_I mag work in the para, if it will work at all?
  4. Mag springs are new ISMI with Arredondo followers. Last night tried a suggestion of using new springs with original Para followers to no avail. That didn't work either.
  5. I'm shooting a Para 38 super and having a hard to diagnose feeding problem. I thought to start with it was my mags but after a thorough exam it seems it may be brass related. The problem only occurs with more than 8 or 10 rounds in the mag. It seems like the small rim of the top round is getting behind the rim of the 2nd round and diving nose down when the slide tries to strip it out. All my brass is conventional Starline Super +P. I'm thinking supercomp or TJ brass may take care of the problem. Anyone else have or had a similair problem? Thanks,Ed
  6. The springs actually are ISMI with Arredondo followers. My OAL now is 1.125(I think) and that shoudn't be causing it to sit nose down in the mag outside of the gun. I'll try my old followers and new springs and see what happens.
  7. The problem started a while back with rounds sitting nose down in the mag. I thought the springs were old and followers worn so I replaced the springs and followers with Arredondo's. SHooting Bianchi this past saturday the problem cam up again. After loading about 8 or 9 rounds, they start sitting in a nose down position and will not feed, slamming into the bottom of the feed ramp. It is happening on 2 of my standard length mags. I have another standard length with no problem and a big stick with no problem. The mags almost seem to have either a "waist" that tightens on the follower about midway down or either has a "belly" that allows the follower to tip slightly nose down. I can't quite figure out the problem cause I can't make it happen every time. The mag bodies are stock Para and have never been polished or tuned. Would polishing the inside of the tube possibly help? I'm hoping I won't have to buy new mags but I will if I can't get the problem figured out. Funny thing is it never happens during practice, only during a match. Thanks,Ed
  8. Find a good used Citori. Beretta is a good gun but if you were to break something, Browning parts are far easier to get. Brownells carries just about everything for a Citori and nothing for the 6xx series Beretta. If you think you'll really get into Sporting Clays, go ahead and look for a sporting clay model like a 425 or 525 sporting. The older Citori Special Sporting is also a great gunand can be found used sometimes for under a grand. jacquas.com is a great place to search used sporting guns.
  9. Here's a big 10 for RCBS. I've alwasys used their equipment and been well pleased. Recently I acquired an Ammomaster progressive that belonged to a friend who died. He had disassembled the thing and lost alot of parts. I reassembled it and figured out what was missing. It took 27 parts to get it going again. I was sure it was gonna be at least a hundred bucks. They told me it was covered under warranty, no charge at all, not even shipping. I have a buddy that had a Rockchucker. He was moving and had the press on back of the truck. He forgot about it and threw it off on the hiway, destroying the press. He called RCBS to see about ordering a new press. They told him to send it in and they would replace it. He said " no, you don't understand. It was MY fault. I threw it off the truck on the road and ruined it." The nice lady said "send it in and we'll replace it" nuff said! I am a forever customer of RCBS.
  10. I hope they'll realize how out of line they are on prices. I've been shooting them since they started out but can't afford them now.
  11. I really like Laser Cast's 125gr FP in my 38 super but their pricing has gotten a little rediculous. I'm getting a little low on bullets and was getting an order together when I realized they had gone up considerably on price. They are now $96 per 1000. I can order the same bullet from a small casting operation for $55/1000 delivered! I honestly have to say the Laser Cast is a slightly better bullet but only slightly. Not enough to justify a $41 premium. I can order Rainier's from a local ammo mfr. for the same or less money than I can order Laser Cast. What cast bullet are ya'll shooting and what is the cost? Thanks,Ed
  12. Running short on regular 38 Spr+p brass and gonna stock up. I've had occasional FTF and wondered if the rimless version might alleviate the probs. Will the rimless work OK in the gun (custom para open gun) and will the standard #39 shellholder work or something else needed? Thanks.
  13. I bought that gun. It is a P14 frame converted to 38S, SA Slide, comp barrel, aimpoint comp in a Weigand mount, 5 mags, 200 pcs new brass and dies! All for 900 bucks. Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus. I won my class with it last weekend. Keep watcging gunbroker. They do show up from time to time. Picked up a Para p16-40 limited this week for $650. Another 600 bucks or so added in parts will put you in open class for 12-1300 dollars.
