  1. If you intend to use your weapon to defend yourself, then you need to know the laws of the jurisdiction you are in. Meaning, if you travel with your weapon from state to state or possibly even city to city, you need to be aware of any idiosyncrasies of when you are permitted to use deadly force. For example, with Ohio's recent change to adopt a Castle Doctrine, the rules have changed a bit. But surrounding states that recognize the permit are all different and you should not simply assume you can act as you would in Ohio. As far as any statement to the police, consistent with the applicable laws, you should say something like, "Officer, I was in fear for my life and defended myself against this attacker/robber, etc. (This is where you have to know what your particular jurisdiction requires - for example, do you have a duty to retreat before using deadly force or must you allow a robber to run away rather than shoot or detain them). I will be happy to cooperate with you but I am not going to say anything more until I have had an opportunity to consult with counsel." Better to be detained overnight than to mistakenly say something that will cause more trouble down the road. If the individual flees, there is nothing wrong with giving a description. In fact, you want him to be caught as soon as possible. What you want to avoid is any description of what occurred because even when justified, you won't be thinking clearly. The adrenaline combined with the impact of being involved in such an incident should not be underestimated. Eric
  2. went to mac store.com and all I saw was 3 lap tops, a mac mini, and a mac pro am I missing something? Get an iMac. I just went through this too and switched to Mac. I am very happy with it. Much simpler to use and it is easy to add peripherals as well.
  3. I am running my XBox 360 with an iMac. I have the Airport Router and the Air Express and I have a DSL line. I do have a PC running off my wireless network too but I am not running the XBox off the PC because it only has a receiver. I have had no problems once I got the right passwords in from my system, it worked fine. I did not have to do anything special for it to work. Eric
  4. I have a Wilson in 9 mm and it s one sweet shooting pistol. I would buy another in a second.
  5. I have not seen the Metalform 10 rounders yet. But, I am big fan of the ETMs. You can't go wrong with them.
  6. Yes it is not quite as economical but at 6 or 7 bucks for 100 it is still quite a bit cheaper than 100 rounds of 9. Plus, I think the ability to isolate on the fundamentals is worth it.
  7. I use my 22 conversion with a Wilson lower. I actually have found a bit of the opposite that the higher velocity/higher priced stuff works better than the Mini-Mags. So, I guess that proves your point about each being a law unto itself.
  8. I agree with the comments about working on trigger control and one handed shooting. You can really concentrate on correcting flaws like jerking the trigger. Eric
  9. You can see them with the indoor ranges with the good lighting and rubber traps pretty easily too.
  10. I bought a used SV Limited gun from someone on this forum. I have been very impressed with reliability and performance. I am considering ordering a sight tracker myself. Eric
  11. I have both. Originally the Tripps were giving me problems and I had to send in for the other follower. Now they work much better but are not flawless. The ETMs have been almost perfect after a couple thousand rounds of use. Plus, I like the follower better. So ETMs are my choice. YMMV Eric
  12. Another vote for the 1/2 day format. For those of us with a long trip it will eliminate a substantial portion of the travel costs. Summer Blast is a good format to follow.
  13. I use good old Hoppe's and Slide-Glide to lubricate. Never had any problems.
  14. I am not small - 6'2" about 235 so that is one reason I thought the 32" would be better. I was pretty much set to buy the 686 until I looked at the Brownings. I looked at the 525 too but I really liked the balance of the 625. Is 8 to 8 1/4 lbs. considered a light clays gun? Eric
  15. I am considering two different O/Us - a Browning 625 Sporting 30" with extended chokes or a Beretta 686 White Onyx Sporting32" with internal chokes. The add external chokes to the Beretta would be about 200 - 300 difference but there would still be about a $500 price differential. Any opinions on either gun, the difference in barrel length (the 30" is on sale so I don't have a choice) or the chokes? Thanks, Eric
  16. I can get 21 rounds in an SV or an SPS mag with Bolen follower/spring and 4mm basepad. One of the followers works fine with either mag, the other follower and spring allows one or two rounds to get underneath the follower every time I load it no matter whether it is an SV or SPS mag. I even tried a replacement spring and no luck. The same thing happened to my buddies tuned 170 STI tube the first time he tried it out. The round got underneath the follower and jammed up the gun. It seems like the Bolen spring causes the follower to dip and allows a round to get underneath. Any ideas as to how I can fix the problem? Eric
  17. I am really glad that this thread was revived. I am really focused on improving my transitions and bringing the front sight into focus as I do. I shot this Sunday night for the first time. I think it is a great drill. I just received Part II so I can confirm Brian still has it. Can't wait to try that out next. I think it addresses exactly what I am trying to do right now in my training. Eric
  18. I've got tickets to the Columbus show on 11/9. Haven't picked up the album yet, but I am going to, I like what I have heard so far. Eric
  19. What a tremendous speech. Her poise and delivery were phenomenal, especially with all the pressure created by the media. Great job Sarah!
  20. Ryan, we picked some up at the Michigan Sectional. Used them last Saturday at Midwest. See you there, Eric
  21. Matt, I lost my grandparents early in life and wish I could watch a video like that or a video of all of my aunts and uncles/parents talking about them. If you are uncomfortable taping at the service, maybe you could do it afterwards. Assuming that you have some sort of dinner, etc. with the whole family after the service. I know in the past when I have attended funerals of family members that seems to be a good time to go over fond memories. Sorry for your loss. Eric
  22. You will be very happy with the Wilson ETM mags. They work great. I have Tripp too and I have had a few feed problems with those. I had to change the follower and it seems to have helped but still have a few hiccups. No problems at all with the ETMs. Eric
  23. If you are a Wilson guy, Wilson makes a 3.6 inch barrel (Sentinel) and 4.0 barrel (Professional and Compact) all are available in 9 mm. They can come with an officer's size frame/grip as well, if her hands a re a bit smaller. Go to the website and look at the various combinations. The Wilson 9 mms shoot very nice too. Springfield EMP is also a nice smaller 9 mm with a 1911 type frame. Eric
  24. Do you have to use the Bolen basepads with the followers to get max capacity or can you use the Dawson base pads too? Eric Depends on the pad and tube, but basically it goes like this: If you need a standard Dawson +1 the Bolen 3mm pad will provide a little more room, enough to make a real difference. If you need a Dawson SNL the Bolen 4mm is roughly equivalent with a very slight room gain. Thank you, Eric
