Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Will do thanks. I've had an upward trend. I shot all the west coast major matches last year. It was awesome. I improved so much. Indy
  2. You got it. I even walked through the math for the largest gr. (230) and the smallest gr. (155). Use your chrono velocity or anybodies as the final velocity at the end of the barrel 5". The start velocitry is zero. With the bullet wieght you can calculate MV and FA. Remember A is calced from the start and final velocity and the distance of 5". 5" becuase at the end of the barrel all the force from the powder is zero. It reverts to drag force of air slowing it down. Indy
  3. I shot 80% on a classifier. I'm "C" class. Is there away to get it allowed? I'm right at 59%. This would easily bump me to "B" class. My best classifier to date!!! Indy
  4. Remind me not to shot with you. I hate getting beat by girls, silly girls! On a more serious note - great job - kick those ego centric, macho dudes butts! Just win baby! Indy
  5. Congrats! I guess bowling paid off, but isn't that a different sport????? Kid'n - That's a hell of a job!
  6. It's all about the money. There's no value in paying somebody to shoot. How many fans at a match? How many fans buy equipment based on a shooter? That market is very small. Now take what they pay Rob and they have to get that back in profit. What's a 1911 profit margin? That's a lot of pistols. I can't even see how Springfield makes any $$$'s off Rob. It's more of a prestige thing. Indy
  7. You have to try to see what's best for you. My short fingers can't reach the ambi with my weak hand. My weak hand is shifting too much if I weak thumb the safety. So, I take it off with my strong. I grab the tob of the slide, strong hand thumb under the safety to keep it on. I transfer to the weak hand, good easy, clean, strong grib. Then, I swipe the safety with my strong index finger as it leaves the gun. That's the fastest and safest for me. It's better than fumbling with two hands on the grip too. Oh, by the way. If your drawing strong hand and transferring to your weak hand - it's not serious. It's a game!!! Think about it! If I'm in combat I'm not going to shoot weak hand if my strong hand works! Indy
  8. Power Factor is proportional to velocity. However, force is proportional to acceleration or velocity squared. Thus, no compensated guns have less recoil with a bigger bullet. Big bullet = less velocity to meet the Power Factor. Thus lower velocity means less acceleration, which means less force when the bullet exits the barrel. Did you follow? What this means is less recoil for larger bullets! So, bigger bullet for non-compensated guns. As far as burn rates. I can't see that making a whole lot of difference. I've tested a bunch of powders and can't feel the difference. Maybe you can if you try the fastest and slowest powders. I pick a powder based on smoke and dirt. The cleaner the better. Compensated guns are a little harder. Generally, a lighter bullet to make the comp work the hardest. Smaller bullet requires more pressure, thus more pressure going out the comp. However, this is specific to the ports. You have to play with powders and bullets to get the combination that flattens your gun the best. Indy
  9. you sight in at the point before and trap it twice Ah! That's the piece I'm missing. Something to work on. The list is up to 207 things to work on now! Thanks short round. Ok, but now I have to know that sight in point??? Sounds like physics to me!!! Indy
  10. I've never had problems on close swingers < 15 yds. Longer ones are trouble, but then everything longer is trouble. I don't slow down enough. I call the shot picture and move on. If my sight picture is where I want it when the trigger is pulled I move on. Don't know if that's the best, but I havn't had a swinger miss in ages, I mean stages, ha! ha! My first shot is almost always an A and my second isn't. That's because my first shot is at the static and my second is on the A too, but the target is moving by my second shot. I need to work on leading that second shot. For now it's OK, I get my hits. Too bad your not still at Richmond. I would like to go out and work on it with you. Heaven knows I need to work on it. Indy
  11. I have the PACT with the print feature. I can print and save all results. It's cool. No problems. Everything runs on batteries. Indy
  12. Good match. I like the Silver Buckle. Great guys down south and good stages. The sport is getting more enjoyable as I'm getting to know more people. Alvin and I had a great time cruising the Convertible Vet. Also, had a great time with the 300lb Gorilla. Your a lot of fun Cullen. I almost won my class. I almost got a Silver Buckle. "I could'a been a contender!" My neck was realllllllllllly hurt'n on Saturday, but I shoot a 7th stage anyway. It cost me. I had two misses, plus loss mucho time. I took 2nd in my class. Down 9.5193 points from 1st place, but who's counting! I realized why I want the Silver Buckle. It so when I get home my wife will say - "Wow, your awesome!" Good match and thanks to all who made it happen. Indiana
  13. Son (a.ka. 300 lb Gorilla), We're proud of you. Congratulations! Oh and yes he takes after his mother (a.k.a. short round)! Indiana James
  14. I bought 1000 Armscor brass to try it. I bought it about a year ago up in Reno. One of the shoots they were at. It loaded on my 1050 and shoot through my gun fine. However, it blew out at the base. About 50% of it I had to throw away after the first shot. I cranked down my first station on the 1050, as low as it would go. That didn't help a whole lot. Gained a few more pieces. Havn't had that problem with other brass. It's more like 10% blows out at the bottom and becomes unusable. I'm only running around 170 PF. Anybody know what's going on? Is it thin walled brass from Armscor or some other problem? Indy
  15. So one day I was walking along the beach. I kicked a jar or something. I picked it up and rubbed it - out came a Genie. The Genie said I have two wishes. I said, "I don't fly and I don't go on boats, but I've always wanted to go to Hawaii. Build me a bridge to Hawaii." The Genie replied "No way. It's too deep. We don't have enough concrete on earth. Have you seen a Pacific storm. It's just too tough. Please wish for something else." I though long and hard. Then, it came to me. I said "Tell me how a woman's mind works." The Genie replied "Do you want one lane or two lanes?" I meet my wife when she was 16. We are now 43. It's been a great journey and I hope to get 43 more. The fact that we have to deal with each other gives each a chance to grow. Going through life without a wife is like shooting a competition with no competitors - you just don't know where you stand! A good woman is worth the fight!
