  1. Correct. Thats why I listed it as "tentative". And that little part of "(waiting for date approval from USPSA)"
  2. The 2014 Area 8 Championship is tentatively scheduled for 28-31 August and will be held in Fredericksburg, Virginia. (waiting for date approval from USPSA) More to follow. Steve
  3. Thanks to the crew of Gem City....we had a blast! As always the stages were fun and challenging and the crew goes out of their way to be accomodating. Nicest people around! We will be back! I apologize for missing the meeting after the match but we were facing a 9 hour drive. Too top it off Monkey caught a stomach bug so it became a much longer drive afterall. Only negative comment - we have been to Erie twice now...and it has rained twice! We really want to see Lake Erie and tour the vineyards darnit!
  4. Thanks a bunch. Sorry for the late response but for some reason work (govy) has blocked the BE forums from our firewall.
  5. Quite a while back there were some great threads concerning proper ammo/powder storage that exposed several forum members that are far better versed in the subject than me. So….time to pull from the forum again. I’m thinking of giving my garage back one of its bays and building a 24X36 reloading/gun storage/shooting building. Basically a kick butt MAN CAVE! Certain things I know for sure. I want it burglar proof (as best as I can), good lighting (make that great), double doors on one end and climate controlled. I’m thinking of going with cinder block, with one to no windows. I'm not 100% sure about powder storage and the safest way in a contained building. I have some ideas but am open to suggestions. I plan on occasionally shooting from the double door end and having the reloading area at the other. Gun safes will be stored wherever it works out. What other thought are out there? I only get one crack at this and I want to do it right. I would greatly appreciate any ideas or reference material. Thanks! Steve
  6. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. I lit off two primer tubes on a 1050. "Primer residue" on the primer bar along with a new primer pressing into a primed case did the trick...twice! Wear your glasses! Glad you are ok.
  7. Me too! Its all I use anymore. I use the paste after I wipe the gun down. Heat it in the sun or with a hair dryer and wipe off. I keep a little bottle of the liquid FL and use that as I would oil. This helps for long durations of shooting. I can honestly say I have had zero lube malfuctions since switching to FrogLube. That was not the case before with my Open guns. By the way.....did you know FL came out with a new cleaning solvent? I just got it.
  8. I always felt Fredericksburg Virginia was stacked. But after attending two Nationals now I would say the state of Arizona produces some top shooters. Perhaps its the harsh winters they have!?
  9. Nice meeting you and the Ohio gang Flex. Plus....I got to catch up on my USA Today reading!

    Doubles?

That's Cliff for you.....a true man of integrity. (even when noone is watching)
  11. Great seeing you again! After each day of shooting, butt dragging, we realized you had been there all day...EVERYDAY! I'm not sure if everyone realizes the dedication you have to this sport. Thanks for some great coverage. I was shocked to see you had fimed us....I never saw you standing there! See you again real soon. Steve and Cindi
  12. Shannon - suggestions? Automatic pasters, self resetting steel and NO snakes! We had a great time. Thought the match and staff was top notch. I agree with Ben regarding the stages make the match. The stages really tested the shooter. We will be back! Thank you again for your professionalism and understanding. Steve and Cindi
  13. Congrats! You will dig the Nats! Ship your ammo! In your shooters package it mentions "American Shooters" (check the name). They are great! Ship your ammo to them with confidence. On your arrival you simply walk in and tell them who you are and they will take you straight to your package. Also, they will let you shoot your gun for free!(at least they did last year) Simply tell them you are a USPSA Nat's shooter and they will hook you up. They allowed us to table top start, draw from holsters, shoot fast (at least I feel I was fast) and all the other fun stuff. Again, check to see if things have changed but they were very supportive last year. See ya there! Steve
  14. Go to a USPSA match and ask some of the shooters to help you out. I think you will find a line of people willing to help you. We all tinker...and love to tinker with other peoples stuff even more!
  15. Send Brian a quick email. He is great at answering all of your questions and he never misses a thing!
  16. a swinging Texas Star?????????????????
  17. My wife contacted IDPA headquarters concerning her 3000 a month or so ago. Response - NOT legal. Please let me know if you hear otherwise. Steve
  18. Save yourself a bunch of headache and frustration and go for the gusto. Find a good gunsmith that will work with you and run the recommended loads. You will be happy I'm sure!
  19. In my best Legends of the Fall voice...."Screw em"!
  20. Would you please explain which screw you tightened a little more clearly? I am at work and trying to visualize which part you are talking about. I have been having a serious "clunk" but assumed it was the powder die sticking in my new brass. Thanks! Steve
  21. After considerable thought I decided to share this with the forum. Trying to make a very long story short….be VERY careful shipping reloading supplies! I will briefly explain. I recently shipped a large USPS Priority box full of 38 Super brass to a friend of mine in South Africa. I was trying to help him out as brass is hard for him to attain. The brass was once fired, cleaned and polished. When I mailed the brass I checked with the Post Office clerk, explained the contents and noted the same on the Customs form. I paid the $50 and sent the package on its way. Weeks passed …no package! Last week I received a US Customs letter informing me that I had violated several laws. Title numbers galore, to include Export and Dealers subsection violations. They even included some laws covered under the US Munitions act. Basically…..I was in trouble. I managed to contact the US Customs office (Chicago) the next day and had a lengthy discussion with the paralegal. To summarize the conversation, here are my options; 1. Get a lawyer 2. Appeal via paperwork and perhaps receive a fine up to $250 and either lose or gain possession of the brass 3. Return forms stating I wish to abandon the brass and the matter drops. 4. Ignore all and it all goes away, including the brass. So, regardless of which route I choose my point is this make darn sure you know the laws. I trusted the Post Office (big mistake). I thought it was harmless and had no clue as to the laws that were violated. If in doubt contact the Customs office! Steve
  22. Shannon, When will the applications be available? Thanks, Steve
