  1. I just have my confirmation email and squad lists of names, shooting Fri/Sat, but the email didn't say if morning or afternoon. Look forward to meeting you. Coming up from Miami, home club is Tropical Sport Shooting Association.
  2. hmmm.....didn't order it setup for any particular caliber, so would it default to be the larger primer? maybe I can tell from the extra primer slide that came with it....I'll have to look. Thanks! You can do it. Compare them and see.
  3. That's an extra decapper pin in case the one in the sizing die breaks. Same with the retainer clip. If you ordered the machine setup for a 45 the primer slide in the machine will be for large pistol primers. Familiarize yourself with the priming system, you will need to swap out the primer slide and primer magazine tube. You will need to use the small primer slide and tube for 9mm, .38, .357 and 40. The large primer slide and magazine tube will be used for 45/10mm/44.
  4. Using 4 grains WST at 1.145 with 135 Bear Creek and Bayou bullets (thanks Coco Bolo for the recommendation). The data should work with straight lead of the same weight. Agree with changing to a cooler burning powder as soon as you can. Darrell on his Bayou Bullets data has 3.4 grs titegroup, 1.150, 130.7 pf, at 968 out of a CZ shadow, that should be a good starting point. The say use lead data as a starting point for coated bullets. I've used the data in reverse before, coated data for lead. Here's his thread: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141763&hl=+135%20+9mm
  5. I know Fiocchi is made in the US in MO. Does yours have the GFL headstamp? Herters outsources not sure about the brass ammo. The Herters steel ammo is Russian. The Aguila is from Mexico. I have loaded Fiocchi and Aguila with 124 and 147 gr fmj with no problems. Loading jhp with a shorter oal's they sometimes won't pass the case gauge but will drop test in a glock barrel. I save them for practice.
  6. Power Pistol was known as Bullseye 86 when it was a oem powder for the ammunition companies. No. Power Pistol is Bullseye 84. Bullseye 86 is not Power Pistol. I stand corrected. Is there a bullseye 86? Going to try E3 next time I order powder. Using solo 1000 right now.
  7. The Gen 3 slide will work on a Gen 4 frame, the only problem will be a big gap between the slide and the frame dust cover/rail. Function will be fine. Decide if this is cosmetically fine with you, borrow a Gen 3 G17 or G34 from a friend to get an idea. Order Gen 4 parts for the frame and Gen 3 for the slide. There is some overlap, but easier to just specify when ordering if not familiar.
  8. Power Pistol was known as Bullseye 86 when it was a oem powder for the ammunition companies. Remember this years ago from a American Handgunner magazine article when it was released to reloaders. Power pistol is great for full power loads. Excellent reputation among bullseye shooters for accuracy. To snappy for our game. Here's some more info for power pistol: From the Encyclopedia of Bullseye Pistol website's reloading page... Encyclopedia of Bullseye Pistol A Load for the 9mm Service Pistol Here is a 9mm load that David Sams has been using for testing Beretta 92 barrels and his completed guns that has been proven sub 1.5" groups at 50 yds is as follows: * Starline brass * 115gr Hornady FMJ-RN bullet * 6.0 - 6.2gr Alliant Power Pistol powder * Rem #5 1/2 SP primers * O.A.L. -- 1.120" no-crimp Out of a barrel test fixture using Bar-Sto barrels groups have consistently run between .975" to 1.5" averaging about 1". Through David's completed 92F's, he claims that they have been running 1.3" - 1.5" as a reminder these are hand-loaded. For a 9mm, about as good as you can get.
  9. Great video, I think the video is reversed or mirror image. For instance the ejection port is on the left side. Neat optical illusion.
  10. No fair, I only got one email from idpa.
  11. Very reasonable prices. No personal experience with the above powders, I do know Promo uses the same load data as red dot if you are going by weight and not volume. Lots of load data for red dot. I load my pistol loads with Clays and Solo 1000, both flake powders, like promo and competition, meters decent but not as good as ball powders in my 550 but good enough that my chrono numbers are consistent. I sometimes get a tenth variation with solo, but the chrono numbers are steady. Shotgun powders are very bulky and helps prevent the risk of a double charge. I like this for a 550.
  12. Welcome aboard! Is this Jim M, are you my friend that lives in Pinecrest?
  13. Hey Eric, I'll see you at the St Augustine GSSF match in November. Good luck with the journey. Lots of fun and exciting. If you haven't already for your shooting library, pickup the following: Brian Enos' Practical Shooting Mike Seeklander's Book Ben Stoeger's 3 books Lanny Bassham's With Winning in Mind I would start first with the newest book from Ben Stoeger, Practical Pistol: http://www.amazon.com/Practical-Pistol-ebook/dp/B00BFSGG5Y/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1363290409&sr=8-4&keywords=ben+stoeger Just bought it a couple days ago, very easy reading, lays an excellent foundation.
  14. Good shooting Paul and Fireman. Paul, thanks for SO'ing. That clam shell on your stage was a doozy for me. I transitioned too slow after shooting the drop turner and didn't get any shots on the clam shell. At least I didn't shoot the no shoot. My home club ran stage 7, no advantage for me. Those guys worked their butts off, Kudos to Alan and the gang. Fireman, I watched your videos, your fundamentals are excellent, just a matter of time. You have "match sense". Let's encourage one another to master class. I'm inspired by your progress. Looking forward to meeting everyone in person. My check for the Carolina Cup was cashed, hopefully I'm in. If the new range in Homestead opens this summer, my home club will host the IDPA Sunshine State Games match down in South Florida later this year. No match bumps though since the match is only for Florida residents.
  15. Before going to solo 1000, I used 3.5 grs 231 with a Bear Creek 147 gr moly. Good accuracy but solo smoked less.
  16. Safariland 5188 or 5198 has a very deep channel. At one time I was running a .300 front with no problems with the 5188. Have now gone to Heinie fixed sights.
  17. I was on squad 18, but I've been following a couple threads here on match bumps/classifiers and recognized your name from them. A friend from the local club was up their with you at the last Citrus Challenge and got a bump too and is really progressing. Exciting to watch everyone improve thier game. Working on mine too. A little slower for me but getting there. Carolina Cup? Damian
  18. +1, had a great time. If I have it right, congrats on your hard work. You're on your way to your goal. to master class.
  19. Only used the 4.0 so far. I've been wanting to try the 4.5 springs. I saw Wolff Springs has them direct. Midway and Brownells only carry the 4.0. http://www.gunsprings.com/index.cfm?page=items&cID=1&mID=5
  20. I know e3 mimics red dot loads in shotguns charge weight to charge weights, but volume density is slightly different. Data for red dot could be used as a guide..
  21. The only thing I have heard from a friend who is intimate with some of the Tiger Teams is more than likely the SSP master classifier times are going to drop closer to the cdp times.
  22. I look for overall, not there yet but consistently top 10, sometimes 5. I think of ssp and esp the same. For the good shooters that shoot CDP, I spot them 3 seconds on the stages where they need the 2nd reload. Gives me an idea of how I'm doing.
  23. Your crimp sounds fine, I'm using .378 and pulled bullets mic the same diameter before loading. The 147 Berry's I have measure .356. OAL is 1.130 and 920 fps out of a G17. My accuracy is better than what you are getting, decent but not great. After hitting a couple no shoots right on the edge (I called the shots clean) in a state match have just switched over to 124 JHP from Precision Delta or Montana Gold. Cost is comparable but accuracy is excellent. Feel is a touch snappier but still soft. I'm using solo 1000.
  24. Military brass is thicker and with the longer 147 gr it can get cause a slight bulge where the bottom edge of the bullet seats. I find that some of these rounds won't go into the chamber checker but will drop in no problem to the glock barrels I'm using. The chamber checker is made to the tightest dimensions. Much tighter than my glock barrels. I save these rounds for practice. I'm seating my bullets to 1.130 with .378 crimp. Same Berry bullets. I assume you're using a 1911 since your rounds are much longer. Do they chamber check in the STI barrel?
  25. I enjoyed it. The first 30 minutes or so was extremely slow. I'm a big fan of the books and movies too. Dorky enough to watch all the extended cut versions. I saw it in the HFR (high frame rate) 3d. This is the one where its at 48 frames/second vs 24/sec. Visually very cool and lots of depth and detail. I thought it was neat to see and experience once, but I thought it took away some of the "cinema" feel
