  1. TGO's Website refers to Don Golembieski at Kodiak Precision. His trigger jobs are amazing
  2. I did travel alot. Many of the Hiltons charge for Internet access. I never had to pay it at a Marriott, Hyatt, and quite a few others. Some places charge $10 for the entire stay while others are $10 @ night. It is a PIA. I think one of the reasons is the Las Vegas mentality of keep them out of the rooms (off the internet) and in the gaming area.
  3. I am an ex-navy ct, ditty chaser. i thougth i forgot all that morse code .........-, but remember: -......................-
  4. Yeah, most problems associated with my TS have been either the mainspring was too light or the ammo was cheap. CCI runs almlost flawlessly. I put a strong mainspring in my gun and problems went to zero. Other problems can arise because cheaper ammo really gunks up the gun. The slide on the TS is cut down, trimmed down, the barrel is a bul barrel. There is a noticable difference between my TS slide and my SV long body/slide. There is less difference between the TS slide and my other SV slide. There is even less difference between the TS and my single stack slide. After the first few draws, you do not notice any difference in weight and balance. The Ruger is nice but my triggers are far superior to anything Ruger can put into their gun. My triggers can not be duplicated by a Ruger and that makes a huge difference. HUGE.
  5. I saw you do this technique at the High Desert Classic on stage 1. It cost you a bunch of time. It was obvious. You spent an large amount of time acquiring the target for your first shot and your follow up shots were significantly slower. As I remember, the last set of targets were taken from the right side of a barrier. You had to bend around to get the targets on the left and in the middle.
  6. Ok, Life is Strange. This morning I received an email invoice from PV. I guess they are going to ship my primers.
  7. I got an order confirmation from Powder Valley two weeks ago for some Wolf primers. Their website had them in stock. I just talked with the guy today and he says I pretty much will not get them in this order and probably not until sometime in August-maybe.
  8. Were the high primers on the same brand of brass?
  9. Here is what Not to do: Do not do an 'Over the Hill Party'. Jack Benny was always celebrating his 39 birthday. He never hit 40. A lot of women appreciate this mentality. Do not buy her clothes. A spa day is generally a good thing, but instead of a day, buy her a gift card to a spa so she can go multiple times. The concert ideas are fantastic if one is nearby. You really need something out of the ordinary to celebrate- go to New Orleans and stay in the French Quarter for the weekend. Go to Hotwire and Expedia to find the cheapest rates for a great hotel. If you do Hotwire today but do not book, they will come back in a few days with an updated and cheaper list of hotels.
  10. I have stock SV mags with Grams parts. 5 out 6 easily hold 19. One holds 20 but is not reloadable. The seventh mag has bolen parts and easily holds twenty. Mine are totally reliable and I do not have spring issues. Some "tuned" mags wear out springs quickly. HSmith mags are tuned to easily hold 20 as are Bob's mags without the spring problem.

    XD

i am using vv320, probably Federal Small Magnum or WSP Primers, MG or Zero bullets. I have a couple thousand rounds of AA 9mm for practice.
  12. I have a both Federal Small Magnum (which I have never used before) and Winchester Small Pistol primers. I am going to load National match ammo soon. Which would you choose? I shoot a fairly light trigger .40S&W. It has a McLearn long firing pin.
  13. I was traveling with my family a week or so ago. I took my XD with an extended base pad on one mag. I shot a local match with it. I ended up in the middle of the pack, which is normal for me, shooting minor. Previously I only had about 8 stages through the gun. I was pretty pleased with the performance of the gun. Of course Scott Springer did the trigger job. So that made a huge difference. I am seeing more and more shooters using 9mm in Limited. It might be the cost of the ammo or the sweet recoil factor. All of us remark that we are focused on accuracy to make up for shooting minor and we do not see a reduction in the standings. In fact, some remark they have actually improving their standings.
  14. Use a higher mainspring and you reduce the number of misfires with the cheaper ammo.
  15. I use Matt's McLearn firing pin in almost all my guns. I did have a 1911 that would not light off some Coast Guard ammo. Put Matt's firing pin and by magic no more problem. Bottom line for me, is that is it cheap insurance.
  16. Powder Valley and Graf and Sons sells it cheaper. But it could be transportation costs to the great cold.
  17. I was fortunate to have conversations with TGO and Mike Seeklander about this topic. The key in practice is to re-enforce the positive skills learned. The second goal is what they call Controlled Chaos that occurs in a match. The more you practice Controlled Chaos, the more comfortable the shooter will be in a match. TGO talks about treating each local match with the same intensity as a big match. Mike emphasizes the need to really push the limits during a practice session. The imiportant part of the practice is to always dial it back. In pushing the limits, pushes the tecnique, which can cause errors. The key is not to have training scars. Push the limits, then dial it back at the end. This way the bad part of pushing does not become ingrained in the subconcious mind. But the feeling of pushing the limits sets a new bar. I am been subject to the Matt Burkett stick. Everytime I would not push myself, he would hit me. If pushing yourself to new limits can not be done individually, then partner up with someone who will say go faster. The key for me, is not to develop training scars. I have spent the past few years getting rid of them and my shooting shows it. Now I need to start pushing the limits.
  18. I purchased a STI Trojan. It is mighty accurate but a PIA. I replaced a lot of parts. I should have spent the money on a Wilson or Baer and saved me a lot of problems. My first wide body was a STI. Sold it to a friend. He sold it. I have a full custom SV and my friend has a STI by another famous smith. I have a custom SS built by a pistol smith guild member. It is awesome to shoot. But the lugs on the barrel split. Nothing and I mean nothing compares to a full custom, if you have the money. That said, there are excellent quality semi-custom single stacks out there. Listen to Hsmith. Many shooters tailor their guns to the sport they are shooting. ProAM is once a year (?), SS matches are once a week, well depending on where you live. Go with a Baer.
  19. I got the hanging version. It has the flexible tube and variable foot pedal. Well I used to have it. I loaned it to a fellow shooter. He stills has it. I got it Walmart or Amazon for about $150.
  20. One of the most helpful aspects of Matt's class and I think BE has referred to it; fire 10 rounds into the berm. Do not aim at anything just get them focused on the movement of the front sight and how it feels. Second, BE often talks about benching the gun. You might want to consider this as a start of the live fire. You would be amazed at how many people do not know how or where there gun is sighted in. Do the split target for a bench just to get them in the frame of mind to start calling their shots. 1. Bench shooting 2. Accuracy shooting 3. Movement 2. I helped a friend work with a soon to be LEO. The trainee responded best to shooting at steel. It provided immediate feedback. We either hung the steel or set up the popper backwards so it would not fall. The trainee made significant improvement v just using paper targets. 3. Safe movement out of a box into another box. Anymore than three items in a training session will be counterproductive. The goal should not be expose them to most variety but to focus on achievable results with a small number of variables.

    38 SC

If I wanted to buy some 38SC, who would you recommend as a source with good prices?
  22. I am new to 38SC. I use a Lee FCD for my .40 S+W. Do I need one for my 38SC? How about an EGW Undersize Die?
  23. I was RO on a stage where the shooters came from the right and went left. In the stage briefing I emphasized then need for care when moving and reloading during the movement. I did issue a couple of warnings and NO DQs. If I am running the shooter and on the right side or behind the shooter, I can not make the call. I expect the RO running the palm to be looking for the muzzle. Quite frankly, I have been to some matches where the scorer does not act like an RO. The second RO is there for a reason. I too, dislike stages that encourage being on the brink of breaking the 90 degree rule.
  24. Is there a match at Rio Salado Sportsmans Club tomorrow. If so, what time does it start? Do you get there early to help set up or is it ready for you? What time does the match end? Thanks
  25. With a Nowlin or Kart barrel, VV320, 180 JHP, 1.18-1.19, 4.85-4.89 gr = 171 To me alot of it comes down to the barrel. Same ammo in my friend Schuemann is slow by 10 to 20 fps. You should PM Whatmeworry. He had some Para's for a while and kept good records.
